If I remember correctly, he told his wife to guard the door because the Mens room was occupied or something had happened that he wanted to avoid the Mens Bathroom. His wife left on purpose because earlier on the episode he was supposed to guard the bathroom door for her because the bathroom lock was broken. Larry was distracted and somebody opened the door and the wife was embarrassed.
