Hey, give him a break: he's in Australia! Different culture. Those guys down there will even tie a bunch of corks on strings to their cowboy hats. ROFL
Sorry, definitely not detonation. LPG's cell size for detonation is larger than the diameter of your tube. Also, the length of your tube is too short to induce a detonation wave. The most your getting is a fast turbulent flame. For the non technical, an easy way to tell this is not a detonation wave is by seeing how close you are sitting. A detonation wave is supersonic, meaning the rapid pressure change a shock wave induces would burst your ear drums. You seem only mildly discomforted.
damn your the first person ive seen to attempt pulse detonation out of a lab. but i dont think that detonation because in one other vid detonation was red will deflagration was blue. but, you getting there! its beautiful!
That's not detonation. Propane burns too slow. You either need some faster burning fuel or increase the psi. You can also add a little bit of hydrogen to right before firing to promote detonation. Hope that works for you. Good luck.
I think the use of propane is fine. However propane-air is fairly difficult to detonate without an advanced facility and propane-oxygen will be easier. If it gets to that, sitting next to the engine will be risky and some check valves should be installed to prevent any occurrence of a flashback.
COOL!...I've been dabbling with PDE with my tiny contraptions...kind of timid about fiddling with larger ones though. Aflac insurance wouldn't pay for medical bills should something happen LOL.
That sounds like deflagration the impulse sound is not sharp enough!

Lol, sounds like a cartoon character running. Looks like it works sort of like a pulse jet?

@Newtron3000
Yeah and a detonation in a thin wall tube like that would detroy it and rip his face appart

if that detonated he would not have been able to up load the video, he would have been dead. i guarantee that

nice, think you should try oxyhydrogen (HHO), as a propelent.

I worked with detonation engines that burned blue in the early '90's. It's the fuel that changes the color more than the method of combustion.

Try to add oxygen gas with the burning gas. Then the detonation would be a lot greater :D.

Actually LPG not propane. But thanks.

@OZPULSE1 LPG = liquid propane gas.
Same thing, just in a liquid form.
What comes out of the tank is in fact propane gas.
