  • is this the memory? on my ps3 i have a slim and it cant play DVD'S and every time i go on google it says that i do not have enough memory to open a new page and it just goes to a blank page and i only use 14 gb out of 120 gb of space and i just dont get it. can u help me?

  • hello, can I replace the hardrives first, then transfer the data via enclosure, or can I backup data to new HDD via enclosure and then swap them. which is better way

  • @CrewRite

How can you use your old hard drive as an external hard drive?

  • HEYHEYHEYHEY anyone know where you can buy one of these? I want to add new memory, i would really like a 500 gig but even 160 is fine, i need it to be not to expensive. thanks, and i can tell you where to get a 40 GB PS3 FOR ONLY 97 DOLLARS!!!!!!!

  • @JKrown23 Amazon

  • What about the saves, how to i get it from one harddrive to the other, and where would i get a better hard drive from?

  • @funkeydavid put them in usb then on new hdd to copy it :)

  • Thanks for the tutorial. Just finished switching my 80GB out for a 750GB and it's restoring the data now. Never have to update the hardware again, I'm sure.

  • Will this mess up my playstation 3? I have an 80GB system and my brother wants to give me a bigger hard drive, I know it will wipe out my saves and I'm fine with that, all I want to know is will it hurt the system like cause it not to work properly?

  • whatever the storage size is, make sure you get a 7200rpm hdd

  • what is this enclosure ti read my old hard drive

  • is there a limit to the size of the HD? can I install a 2 tb one into it?

  • @craziii3 it needs to be a 2.5 inch (laptop) hard drive. I'm not even sure they are available in 2TB size?

  • @craziii3

You don't want a TB HDD, they're designed for storage, not to be constantly used for running programs. The mass amount of capacity cannot equate concentration, therefore you'll notice hiccups or pauses from time to time. Get a 500-720 GB HDD and you're good... Regarding storage, you don't even need that amount of room for games. I have a 620 GB HDD on my PC and I have way more than enough high-sized games than I could play. Buy smart; that's my opinion.

  • Confirmed compatibility for PS3:

4200rpm to 5400rpm (not all models may work with 7200 or higher)

500gb or under (laptop or Xbox type, laptop one may require transferring bootable files via usb enclosure)

  • leftsome fairly important things out there. backing up etc.

  • HOW THE FUCK DO I TRANSFER THE SAVE DATA/MEMORY/TROPHIES TO THE NEW HARD DRIVE?

  • @Lance707 back up the data on the old hard drive on an external hard drive, there is an option to back up all the data in the data options menu on the ps3

  • @MrOvaltineMan okay, thank you :)

  • @Lance707

2.5 usb enclosure, slip your old drive in it.

  • @CrewRite 2.5 usb enclosure?

  • Its a enclosure for laptop harddrives. Connect the old harddrive into the enclosure box. The box has a usb cable to plug in and transfer files.

Your old drive can act like an external drive.

  • @CrewRite Oh okay ahaha. Thank you! :)

  • @Lance707 if you are plus member you can upload all your game saved data to sony if not then do a full back up with an external HDD... also to save your trophies you just have to do a sync with servers

  • Could of done wid some captions or somethin', but looks quite self explanatory, so thanks. Appreciated

  • lool u selling it i wont an#]

  • what is the memory called? like the gb..what kind of hard drive would i need..any examples..or which ones have any of you use?

BECAUSE I WANNA BUY A PS3 40GB AND UPDATE THE HARD DRIVE..WILL IT BE CHEAPER TO BUY A PS3 WITH ALREADY MORE GB OR BUY A LOWER GB PS3 AND BUY A SEPARATE HARD DRIVE WITH A BIGGER MEMORY?

  • LapTop SATA Drive, otherwise PS3 ones already have bootable files preloaded to be seen by the PS3 system.

[read threw the comments before asking]

  • Can XMB works correctly?

  • I have a 160 ps3 slim what's the best 500 hard drive to get I seen some on online store help me out

  • I have a 32 gig PS3. Can I change it to 60 gigs so I can play PS2 games?

  • Does the 120 Playstation 3 slim console support a 1tb hard drive? or even 500 gb?

  • can only confirm 500gb or under, 5400rpm or under as working.

  • can i use laptop hard drive ?

    Peace

  • yes, but may take a bit more effort. PS3 ones have the bootable files pre-transfered.

  • is the hard disk jus for space?

  • @727themastermind

yes, storage only. ps3 files for ps3 to see harddrive, also games, music, videos etc.

  • what intercooler are you u?

  • i changed the hard drive to a 640 one but i do not know how to retrieve the data from the old one

  • @tayssir64

check my compatibility list, I already posted in this YouTube video.

  • enclosure is needed to transfer data.

  • Ps3 READS a external 500, but would it support a 1TB HDD internal?

  • @demonsparkx

    I can't confirm that 1tb would work.

  • @CrewRite hm okay, id assume it wouldnt but i dont wana try it lol.

  • What kind of hard drive do i need too buy?

And is there a max capacity?

Really need your help i only got 40 gb :P

  • PS3 Compatibility List:

-2.5 SATA (a.k.a LapTop type, no pins connection type)

-5400rpm or below (not all models may support 7200)

    -500gb or below

-Using a non-PS3 HardDrive (such as a regular SATA LapTop HardDrive) may require transferring PS3 bootable files via a usb 2.5 enclosure. Usb on any computer that has a usb port. Bootable files help the PS3 system, see the HardDrive.

  • Use PS3's 'format' function after transferring PS3 bootable files.

  • does it delete all the memory that u currently have on the PS3?

  • @360freak40

No, the memory cards will not be affected.

And HardDrives aren't Memory, they are HardDrives.

  • ok so will a 2tb 5900 rpm sata hard drive work i heard that anything above 5400 rpm will have compatability issues?thanks for any help.

  • that seems like a piece of cake

  • /watch?v=iXoFA0FlXS8&feature=related this song would've fit this video betta ^&^

  • If I don't care about my software, can I still just change the hdd like that. Every time I see it done they always need a backup hdd, but I do not have one. And I do not plan on spending $59.99 - 129.99 on an object that I would only use once.

  • my old ps3 died ylod so i got a slim but my 60gig hard drive has many games and costumes can I use that hard drive in my slim

  • @dutchieboyy215

    500gb and below works.

  • can a 3.5 in hard drive fit by any chance?

  • @GrimLurker

    Xbox 1 (not 360) and PS2+Network Adapter use 3.5

  • 2006?! Damn...lol!

  • my hard drive doesnt slide out like that after unscrewing the blue one. its like its stuck

  • @jackmar291

Attach good quality tape and pull.

  • @jackmar291 pull it to the right then pull out

  • dr oizo ftw

  • fuck, i just got my new hard drive, but i can't get these fucking screws out they are way to tight.

  • SOMEONE LISTENED TO DUBSTEP IN 2006!

  • is this official, or some underground business? what i mean is, does sony support this form of upgrade

  • @HakMan1989 yes thats why there is a panel on the side but it will void your warranty

  • @onlinecrunch no it wont void it

  • @TheLOLSHAGGY

If you don't use a PlayStation HardDrive it could void.

  • Buen aporte amigo.

  • How come, when i take the HDD lid off of the side of the ps3, my hard drive looks completely different. There is no metal flap i have to pull, and i dont have to pull the hard drive to the side. There is one screw and i slides right out. Is this normal? Or is my PS3 just special? Its 80gb Fujitsu hard drive (thats what it says on the label)

  • @Rockomaple i would look for a newer video because you probably just have a newer version ps3

  • @Rockomaple Do you have an old fat system or a slim? Might help if you upload a video

  • can the hard drive run faster that 5400rpms?

  • Man.. You can screw and unscrew REAL fast!!

  • @ruipedroleite That's what she said :P

  • Mr. Oizoooooooo ;DD

  • Thanks a lot!!! :-) I just upgraded my PS3 hdd to a WD Scorpio Blue 320 gb and it works PERFECTLY!!! Thanks again for the video instruction. :-)

  • when i did that the lid for the hard drive didn't stay it kept coming off

  • And here's me thinking it would be even a slightly worrying task, I thought I was going to void the warranty and all sorts! Silly me!!

  • that looks like it will brake your warranty

cant i add 1 using the usb slots

  • @iiNoxiousHD nope removing and replacing the HDD is totaly acceptable! and yes you can but it takes alot more effort haha

  • can i use a 250GB Sata 8MB CACHE Samsung HM250JI

  • @sharoz95 yes ;)

  • @sharoz95 yes you can i checked it out by writing your HDD model on google and the rpm was 5400 which is acceptable to use in the playstation so it does not overheat

  • I love how these videos make it look like unscrewing the screws is sooo easy. Little do they warn you that those screws are stuck in those ps3 harddrives like ultra glue!

  • @RBNinja I CANT UNSCREW THE SCREWS OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY HANDSSSSSSSSSS MY HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANDS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

  • @G4MB1T12 I feel your pain... i feel your pain

  • @RBNinja i was about to bleed but then i went to some shop just to unscrew them LOL ! ... and i installed the HDD there .. its toshiba 500 gb hard disk

  • if u can take ur ps3 hardive out just plug into ur computer and put moded lobbies on it ...tell me da results :)

  • you cant do that you need to format your hard drive when in laptop or computer

  • were can you buy a ps3 hard drive?

  • @fuunycily2056 you can use any hard drive available in the market... just make sure it's the one commonly used in laptop computers and on a SATA format... ex. " WD Scorpio Blue 500 GB Internal hard drive "

  • i get all my playstation cards for free!!! psnkeygen (dot) com

  • What if you want to install a terabyte or two will this still work?

  • but what about transferring data? is there a kit, or HDD dock you can get to do it? and is there a format hard drive option on PS3?

  • and if i want to transfer everything to my new hard drive?

  • hèy_ÄnyÓÑE_wânNA_chát_wÎth_mË_Í_fêél_sÓ_lÕÑèlY_tÖÐáý◘

  • I just got my ps3 back from sony and everytime i put the hardrive in it wants me to format thinking i could avoid this by going in the so called safe menu or as some may know it as the secret menu that sony doaes not tell you about but when i do that and hit restore files it gives me an error so how do i fix this i worked to hard gameing to just have all of my data gone.

  • @rockbandmlb You have to download the lastest update up the Sony website, put it on a flash drive and load it on to the ps3.

  • Music sucks, would have been better if you explained the steps and also made a complete tut. explaining the back up data transfer.

  • Great video!

*Throws away ps3 and buys xbox*

  • I've upgraded my old 40GB to a 500GB hard drive, but what happens when I want to put that hard drive in my new PS3 160GB Slim? It still has the old software from the 40GB running so will that work on the new 160GB slim?

  • Nice vid - screw these 12 minute ones , this has all i need to know

  • So what did you do. like eg (250Gb - 320 Gb) [or just replace 250]

  • I that a 2.5" SATA?

  • @oskarpajunen i love porn o!

  • I don't trust my self doing that......

  • @darkelf118 Oh, its sooo easy to do :)

  • @darkelf118

I know its like rocket science :P

  • can you just put all your stuff on the External Hard Drive?

do you have to put a new hard drive?

if you get External Hard Drive can you just have more Hard Drive and do you need to put all your date on it or can you just put it in just gor more memory?

  • hey if i backup my ps3 that has 3.55 CFW to an external hdd and then restore it will it brick or update my ps3?? please helpp thanks

  • Porn music

  • hi ive donde this all ready ive successfully upgraded my ps3's HDD and now i want to re-use my old ps3 drive. so, i bought a markvision enclosure so it can be use with a usb port. I set it up and when i plugged the usb to the pc it doesnt recognize it. the drive is a seagate momentus 5400.3 sata 2.5 the case fits perfectly and the drive doesnt click whih means it is not damaged. im desperately looking for something to make it appear but nothing plis help

  • @alejoh88 theres nothing you can do, your fucked

  • @alejoh88

have you formatted it via your pc?

The PS3 uses it's own file system and encrypts the hdd if I remember correctly.

  • @alejoh88 Assign a letter to the drive (google how to do that)

  • Another video making this simple process look easier than it actually is, the screws don't loosen that easily, love to see some out takes of these videos coz no way they're all done in one take.

  • @1971ELLIOTT maybe its just your ps3, mine loosens out easily to....

  • will i have to restart all my games if i do this

  • @schillaci187 Some games you can back up to the system, or copy the files to a usb but not all games allow this, so you may have to restart a few, I know for a fact that you can't copy saves from bayonetta or Resident Evil 5, Im sure theres others, jus try copying as many as possible

  • @schillaci187 The PS3 has a "Transfer File" option. Use an external hard drive to store all your data and re-transfer the stored data back into the new hard drive.

Alternatively, you can also switch data from one PS3 to another PS3 if you're moving from one PS3 to another (say, upgrading from Fat to Slim)

  • I've just been told that an internal 500gb hard drive i want to buy which has the same specks as the one that comes out will need to be formatted to FAT32 is this right?? i appreciate any help on this ;-)

  • i heard that a 1TB hard drive will over heat it. Is this true? Will a 500GB hard drive over heat it?

  • @PerplexityStudios I have a 500GB 5400 rpm hard drive in my PS3, and it runs just fine. It isn't loud, and it doesn't overheat any. I can't even tell any difference, other than having a lot more space on my PS3 now.

  • ass hole

  • what happens if i cant losen the screws from the harddrive to the case, help plz.

  • @zijun660 you probably stripped them, you'd have to saw them off some how

  • can u install SSD inside ur PS3 :P

  • @DuyAnh1 No.

  • @KettoKamisori can u install SSD but leave it outside ur PS3 case?

like have it hang out with the cable

  • @DuyAnh1 No, the PS3 won't recognize an SSD at all.

  • does this make the ps3 loose all it's data? (games and game memory)

  • @nandre24 yes...but you can backup everything with an external hd..even psn games you traded

  • @nandre24 awesome. thank you

  • 2 questions how do u make it so i dont lose my addons and such and does this void warranty

  • Can i use any SATA HDD with my ps3 or does it have a maximum capacity or something? i was thinking Western Digital 1 TB Caviar Blue SATA 7200 RPM 32 MB Cache Bulk/OEM Desktop Hard Drive WD10EALS would that work with my ps3??

  • @acm0420 u need to look at your ps3 manual to see what hardrive you have anything over or under 5400rpm will break your ps3 so just buy like a 250gb hardrive dnt buy anything over 500gb hardrives for your ps3 cause it will still break

  • Comment removed

  • so.. if it doesnt void the warranty, do I have to format the hard drive via a pc and do some crazy folder-ing too? =/

  • @goldenevdo

No. The PS3 will automatically handle everything once you boot the new drive for the first time.

  • so that equals 11 years of lousy music, with some wery few exceptions. Wich means if you are under the age of 11... pls stop commenting.

  • Fools! Stop dissing Dj Oizo... Alll music done after this song has been just utter garbage.

  • Comment removed

  • doesnt this void the warranty?

  • @goldenevdo

No, they actually show you how to do this in the manual lol

  • @goldenevdo no it doesn't

  • @goldenevdo no

  • i need the 3.50 update when i turn the system on with the new hdd it says i need update...where can i get the 3.50 update to put on usb?

  • Really dude it fuckin sucks!

Look the noises O.o. You have problems if you like that music, and how dare someone call this MUSIC?????!!!!

  • @ramoses1

  • MUSIC SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ramoses1 you fuckin stupid?

  • can i use this hard drive on a slim ps3?

  • Does Seagate Momentus 5400.6 500GB SATA 2.5" (8MB Cache / 5400RPM) ST9500325AS Work on ps3?

  • Do I need to reformat the new Hard Drive first before put it in the PS3??

  • @ra18ge No you do not. Place the new hard drive into the PS3. Once you turn on the PS3 just follow the on screen instructions. Also, since there is an update (3.50) your PS3 will need access to the internet or by having the update already handy on an ext. hard drive. Finally, it is important to back up your PS3 to a ext. hard drive so when you do have the new hard drive working you can restore the PS3 back to the way it was before putting the new hard drive in. Hope this information helps

  • @ra18ge yes, into fat32

  • Do I need to reformat the new Hard Drive first before put it in the PS3??
