I have read 'The Outsider/Stranger' , but not really got from it what these two have. My guess is that either one or both are bluffing, or this is the most highbrow Youtube argument ever...
Interesting. I thought it was pretty obvious Jaz was a bullshitter. All part of the Black Jester act, isn't it? It's a pity you don't see the irony, taoist.
Just say "You are smrt", it's what they really needed to hear in the end, and they'll all go away they'll probably call you dumb in a non direct way in return but that's unavoidable. They need to hear it from some anonymous someone who doesn't know them irl to make themselves feel whole. Internet Age.
@taoist77 'Maiming'? You illiterate cunt, you just don't get it, do you? It's Killing Joke ffs... maiming (sic) on Top of the Pops is just another piss take.... another Joke! That's what they do... and do it very well!
@Loobs666 Yes that was not a spelling mistake but a typing error.I am in fact exraordinarily literate.Probably even more so than you."a piss take"?My friend that is what you are SOLD,the joke is on people like you.I like killing jokes music, but they score high on my bullshit detector.KJ strived for mainstream success in the mid80's but failed. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that. But KJ make out that commercial success was never their intention. My bullshit detector says otherwise
@Loobs666 "Where to begin"? Begin by checking your eyesight, then try to defend what i said about killing joke (of course you can't hold a reasonable argument against my observation). Apart from some interesting political views the aesthetics of KJ are clearly existentially vacant (you may need to consult a dictionary for that)
@taoist77 Well, i've just checked my eyesite and it seems you are so embarassed some of your previous comments that you've deleted them. And as for the 'existentially vacant' comment..WTF? You think by reading the odd phrase of Sartre off the back of a matchbox makes you a philosopher...nope... it makes you sound like an uneducated pretentious fuckwit. Try again (perhaps...seeing as it's Killing Joke... you should try Camus' Absurdist approach... fucking prick!).
@Loobs666 Actually i am not into satre, he bores me to tears. Camus on the other hand I like, the stranger/outsider is my favorite novel ever and I consider myself to be an absurdist/nihilist. By "existentially vacant " I mean the inconsistency in their aestetics throughout the years highlights their pretentiousness - devoid of the meaning they sell you. I actually quite like the music of killing joke, I just see through the bullshit of Jaz Coleman, pity you don't.

@erictheviking871 Actually I'm not a punk, I have nothing i want to associate with it. I quite like the music of killing joke. But i'm sorry, it's my opinion that jaz coleman is a prick.
@edificemusic TOTP did things differently a little as they went but usually the band would record live with as little variation from the original as possible prior to the airing. Then mime to that version. This is a fact, and why something is usually funny about it. Most variety, talk and performance shows did/do this. That way nothing can accidentally go wrong with the audio. Just got home from KJ in Portland, bittersweetly fabulous, not beyond criticism in the least though, no EIGHTIES! burn!
simon salad cream.....killingjoke had it sussed..I can see tomorrow,I can see the world to come...Pandemonium,is happening everywhere.,they`re aint fuck all that i can do,only sit back and say,``Fuck it,let Pandemonioum Reign Supreme....WHITEOUT.
I don't like this version. They sound like just another cookie cutter, 8th note power chord chugging, cheesy, metal band. The version on the album is much better. Too bad it was the only good song on that album. Old KJ is still the greatest.
This certainly is not the album version. This is clearly live, since they are performing live. My point was that the guitars sound too much like some cheesy chunky metal band.......and not like Killing Joke. This was the only good song on the album. The rest was bleh......sounded like Killing Joke were ripping off the bands they influenced.
Even then it's only the verse vocals that are live, the chorus vocals are not live. In my opinion it's easy to tell that only the verse vocals are live and none of the music! I don't understand how you can hate this but love the album version when apart from the live vocal verses and being edited to be shorter, it's exactly the same!
at 33 secs and 44 secs jaz is "singing the chorus without holding the mic to his mouth yet we still hear his voice, there are no amps, the guitars are not plugged in and there are no mics on the drums! This is quite clearly NOT live!
Well either way this is NOT the version that's on the album. The guitars are too chunky. I don't know what vesion this is but it sucks.......and it is NOT the official album version.
As I said, apart from the live vocals and the whole thing being edited shorter for TV, it is exactly the same! I'm just gonna have to dissagree with you mate, sorry! There is the original version which is on one of the 2 versions of the "Pandemonium" single and it IS totally different. Is it that version you mean? Where are you from? Perhaps you actually got the original version on your album? The UK one didn't.
...on the UK version of the album (and the lead track of the single!), it is the cybersank remix (this version) that is on them. The original version, which is nothing like this, is a bonus track on one of the 2 pandemonium singles. I honestly think it is the original version that is the single bonus track that you are thinking of?
I am from Canada, and I have the full length album. This is totally different from the lead off track "Pandemonium" that is on the album. These guitars sound like some kind of cheesy, chunky, Metallica bull****. I hate this sound because KJ should NOT be sounding like the bands THEY influenced.
Also, the version on the CD starts with a prelude of someone saying: "You count because I lose myself when I play"....and it lasts about 25 seconds (the prelude).
I still like the heavy version too. I know im in the minority liking the heavy killing joke. im an older guy and most folk my age seem to like the softer stuff better, over here it's mainly the younger crowd who like the heavier stuff, prob cos they weren't born when they started LOL
@sclapione so does that make me less of a fan than others then just cos i wasn't born earlier and not in my 50's?I've got everything they've done, i've met them and i've travelled to see them on several shows on each tour they've done for the past 20 years. So i resent the implication that Im not as much of a fan simply based on my age. Ps im nearly 40 now. Not that it makes the slightest bit of difference
@sclapione ps. When i saw killing joke on the KJ2003 and hossanas tours (in Glasgow at least) there were shit loads of metal kids in their 20s,obviously attracted to the heavier music, so compared to them, yes, i AM older. But like i said it makes no difference what age they are.A Guy i know from Ireland travels to Scotland for their gigs and is in his early 20s and he is totally dedicated. It doesn't make anyone more of a fan just because they happened to around in the beginning
dude, hes yelling into the mic, he dosent need to hold it up to his face for it to be picked up. the guitars are using the remote lead. you can hear the echo with the people you idiot
Whatever. I've explained my case already so im not going to repeat myself but I disagree. I'm also not going to resort to name calling either! There's too many "Internet Hardmen" around these days saying things they wouldn't say to someones face!
I would also bet that I've been involved in studio and live sound recording over the years than you. I've had proffessional training on the subject and first hand experience, I use my ears and my common sense, and I know for a fact very, very few bands played live on TOTP and it was very common for bands to only sing live while the instrumentation was mimed to a backing track! You're entitled to your opinion but there's no need for hostility!
@fanguk This is not always how it was done, but if you say so in this case I can believe it, but the backing track is not from the studio track source, it was recorded earlier and then played back so it's still an isolated version that way. But explain to me how the mic so clearly distant from his mouth fed so well if it's live vocals? The fact is it's a mime of an earlier recording that day. Study your TOTP and European TV performance history. It's not the original so it just sounds live. fact!
Can't vouch for the rest but this is so. TOTP was notorious for it - Had the newspapers crawling over 'em in - Jesus - it must have been the late 70s or early 80s because so many of the bands either mimed or 'semi'-mimed.
something just doesn't look right with this whole bit ... but that's just me ... HA
