@EliminateIgnorance , It is called I cant change it, it is from his Once In A Blue Moon Album, track 2 and was also called that when the great Ray Charles covered it in his album Brother Ray, track 4.
I had the great pleasure of singing on this track... in London with two other singers called 'Bones' ...what a singer Frankie is and the legendary musicians on this track also....it was great to see this in LOM!!
My da bought my mum blue moon and i looked it out when i was a kid. Still in amazement that this soul legend was scottish I heard this song and been in love ever since. Even though he's a celtic fan :)
For more Frankie stuff and a campaign to get some of his unreleased songs brought out, go to the "Frankie Millers Bottle of whisky" group on Facebook.
He started writing songs at the age of nine after being given a guitar by his parents and wrote "I Can't Change It" when he was twelve years old, this song was later recorded by Ray Charles
Rod Stewart said of Frankie Miller, He is the only white guy that ever brought a tear to my eye! The widow of the late great Otis Redding reckoned: "that little ole white boy Frankie, has the the blackest voice since Otis.
Just watched LOM, this song was playing in the background, never heard it before and loved it. A quick wiki search and then on to youtube.....gotta love the internet and got to love this track....stunning.
Its an alternating C-F-C-F chord progression and at the chord play the F chord one extra bar before going up to G. I'll figure out the other parts to this song if you want but just do that for now, This song has the same progression as dollar bill from screaming trees xD
regardless of the title, this is such a massive track, thanks for sharing it, I recently stumbled across Frankie's stuff and, It is a truly amazing experience, what an unsung talent.
This guy is enormous!!!
Rod Stewart took a few of his songs, as did the Great Ray Charles. that speaks volumes.....
I've tried to find them before, but couldn't. In fact it's pretty hard to even find the song anywhere. Outside of life on mars most people haven't ever heard it and those that have wouldn't know what it is called. Your better off just trying to work it out.
My friends can't find some things I say Must be the way I say those things My friends can't find some things I do Must be the way I do those things I can't change it But I'm trying to do right I used to steal I used to fall Was I wrong I can't recall I stole in love but all in all Was I wrong I don't recall I can't change it But I'm trying to do right
Just download Youtube downloader and an FLV player and you can listen to them offline and have them on your computer. And even then, you can get a media converter and change them from FLV to MP3 and put them on an Mp3 player or an ipod :)
This song was used in episode 4 of the first series of Life on Mars. Its played when the Sam learns that the young girl he's befriended has been murdered by a local gangster. It's an inspired use of music as its a beautiful scene set to a truely beautiful song. The highlight of a great TV series.

is it bad to look inside yourself,
decide to go
with someone who can show you
the way complete?
are you glad to lose the doubts
you thought would never go
when them sad hallucinations

My own true love has gone away
What can i say?
She left that day
Moon still shines a different way
What can i say?
She left that day
I can't change it
But I'm waitin'
patiently...
