well this isn't really ethnic either- we aren't exactly thai/lao, so if you're saying hmong dancing to chinese and flipping dances aren't ethnic, this isn't either. If you want it to be ethnic- it would ALL be hmong. But think about it, hmong tribes, culture, and language is so diverse. There's many who live in china, burma, thai, lao, ect. that our culture is mixed in, so basically all is ethnic because like it or not, they're all entwined in our culture.

i think lucyleesta just got a little tired of the flipping kind of dancing because to be honest ... i dont think it's dancing because they're mostly flipping and throwing ribbons,fans, or something ... no true dancing hand or feet movements are being displayed ... it's more of a gymnastic thingy ... it's beautiful but it's not dancing (in my opinion)

i agree with you but some hmong dance groups dancing to chinese music doesn't mean they're chinese dances...many of them dances are created alone by hmong....i'm sure if beautiful danceable hmong songs existed, such groups would rather use professional hmong music - but there's none...hmong dance has become more and more creative and advanced and hmong people should be happy to accept that into hmong dance history as well.
