In one godawful horrible night we lost the greatest rock drummer that ever lived and the greatest rock band of all time. It still to this day makes me sad.
Fantastic! Didn't realise this existed ... You wish the guy on the phone in the background would shut up - 'Do you realise who's talking??!'
@MrISatai There's one other brief filmed interview with Bonham in Austrailia on the Extras on Disc 2 of the 2003 DVD. Although brief, it's up close and gives a good idea of what he would have been like to meet & speak to.
@MrISatai - No problem. This is by far the longest, most detailed interview I've ever heard John Bonham give. I simply couldn't resist sharing it with all his fans. If you want more John Bonham, check out the book that this interview came with, "A Talk on the Wildside" by Roy Carr. There's also a printed interview inside that's pretty interesting.
I bought my first drumset in December, and I bought high-end cymbals because I really wanted a kit with good sound. Inspired by Bonham, I bought 2002 hi-hats, only to find out that I had not just the same series, but the same exact model as Bonham! It's something of an honor to play them.
not gonna lie i teared up a little bit when i heard bonzo's voice. john henry bonham- forever the man. hopefully i'll be able to see the jason bonham led zeppelin experience show in rochester in october- jason's going to a do a duet drumming with footage of john for moby dick and when the levee breaks.
@DanUpdike37 - You're not alone, I was also quite awestruck when I first heard the interview. As for the show, hat sounds like quite the experience. I hope you get to see it.
@BillieAudo yeah man just because he died 10 years before i was born this is closest i'll get to zeppelin. they're keeping the band hush-hush which tells me zep might be a part of it; jimmy page aint playing with anyone, john paul jones and them crooked vultures are on a break and robert plant cant sing anymore anyway
@DanUpdike37 really? really? u really think robert cant sing anymore ? lol sounded pretty dam good at the 02 arena ! the mans in his 60's and rocked it/
YOU prob wont even be able to get ur pecker up when your 60 !
i just saw the band of joy in columbus ohio about 2 weeks ago, they AND he were excelent !
he did alot of early solo stuff & Zep all kinda witha tennesse sound maybe? BUT it WAS done with ROBERT PLANT "class" . very tastfully ,while he let us get to know him up close kinda
@z1inspector Fuckin moron! nobodys voice stays the same after 40 plus years of singing, especially the way plant wails! hes probably just jealous because he sounds like someone strangling a cat, its so easy to put other people down, without actually thinking about the circumstances, plant is a god who forged the blues into heavy metal and beyond, he was and will always be the greatest rock n roll singer there ever was!!!
What a birthday present!! Thanks so much for this, John Bonham interviews are so rare that anything whether it be visual or audio is a blessing! Thank You!!
Sorry for not getting out the next part sooner. First my computer was having problems, then I got busy with classes. Expect Part 2 sometime in the next week.
The interview was done by Roy Carr in July 1972 and is 22 minutes long. I also have interviews with Keith Moon, Pete Townshend, and John Entwistle I plan to post; However, if you're looking for the whole collection of 10 interviews with classic rock stars, check out "A Talk on the Wild Side" by Roy Carr.
we've done four already, but now, we're steady... and then they went: one, two, three, four. [bam bam bara bam bam............. CRACK!......... ba-ra-ra ba-ra-ra bum ba bum bum]
OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =O I wish the stupid interviewers would ask about his technique!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU...
@kidzsanlorenzo - Dude, of course no one can teach you feel, but most anybody can learn a specific skill set if they knew HOW the person did it. Talent determines HOW well you can execute it/them. I was just sayin' the interviewers were bloody daft NOT asking specific questions about his drumming. Also, you have his technique way underrated bro! Thx
@kidzsanlorenzo I disagree with 40%, are you crazy? He had great technique. Feel and technique go together. Those fast triplets on the snare and the rolls he did were technique.

You're out of your tree if you think Robert can't sing anymore. He can't sing like it's 1971 anymore, but he can still sing.
