I think stone henge was an ancient grain store,and the stones supported a roof to cover an ant hill of grain that was filled from a hole at the top and emptied from gaps around the base,the ditch around the out side was to keep rodents out.

@mnmhgbns Sorry, but genetic research doesn't lie. A large majority of the native British people here today have ancestry back at least 5,000yrs to this land. What, you think the Stonehenge people mysteriously all died and left no trace? Who are these celts anyway? We're not talking celts anyway (btw, only called celts 300yrs ago) who were Iron Age peoples, 2000 years after Stonehenge.

@Rikitocker Actually, you couldn't be more wrong. The only thing I would say is that this most likely didn't go on at Stonehenge 4,500 years ago. It would be have been considered desecration and disrespectful to the ancestors. Signs of clear mass gatherings & solstice feasting in BA Stonehenge have been found nearby at Durrington Walls henge, where the people of SH lived. Discarded pig bones, middens and space for about 1000 neolithic dwellings. Potentially up to 8000 people celebrating.
