  • @djbandade he isnt dead man

  • Dat be some wild shit.

  • Thanks PLrecords. The needle hitting the vinyl is niiice.

  • Syl Johnson is suing Jay-Z & Kanye West for sampling without his permission, oh well, I doubt it's hurting their bank any.

  • Pete,Dean & Charlie Wilson,..Both great records,The Joy

  • Kool G Rap's classic joint "TALK LIKE SEX" one of the most original rap concepts and killer verses to match brought you here

  • krs-one

  • Wu Tang clan, Kool G Rap, De La Soul

  • Wu-Tang Brought Me Here!

  • PAY THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • RZA, Dilla, Prince Paul, Pete Rock/ Kanye. This song is paying dividends to the Johnson family

  • pay the man.. the sample is used over and over.. no matter how short it is. Wait til PR and Ye get old and ppl sample their shhhhhhhhhh

  • kanye? bring me here? jay z? how bout the RZA?

  • @treegirl7733 it was used on the joy for watch the throne

  • J Dilla and J Rocc brought me here

  • Shame on a nigga

  • @drtitus R.I.P. O.D.B.

  • Here is the story: Kanye asked Syl or Syl's label to use this for MBDTF. Syl said no thank you. Then Good Fridays dropped and Pete Rock sampled it on "The Joy" which is a good friday track, Syl still said nothing, then it was added to WTT bonus version and then Syl is all like bitch I said no but I AM HERE LISTENING TO SYL BECAUSE OF KANYE SYL SHOULD BE GRATEFUL! +This song is bleh.

  • @Amahrixlol FOH

  • @PhillupClinics foh? does that mean fuck outta here.

  • I don't think Kanye knew that Pete sampled this I mean c'mon Kanye samples 4 a living why would he slip on a project like this!?

  • @RedSeaAries no Kanye asked Syl to use this on MBDTF he said no you cant use it.... they still did but not on MBDTF but on GOOD Fridays gbut then it was a bonus to WTT thats when syl was like bitch i said no, but its all good sitll.

  • @Amahrixlol From the interview I saw Syl said Kanye didn't ask him at all

  • Dear Syl Johnson, this song sucks. Kanye West And Jay Z made this sound 100000000000000x better. Fuck you you greedy bastard.

  • @HatersW3lcome what's with the hate, hater? it sucks that you only get one shot at life because you failed at this one...

  • @HatersW3lcome HAHAHA... white kids these days.

  • @aloudpack HAHAHA...whats wrong with us "white kids" these days?

  • this nigga wants to get payed for for "uhh" lmao, get your bread old nigga.

  • Pay up!!!

  • this is actually really good music, thanks kanye

  • I have been wondering for the longest where pete sampled that "UNGH!" cuz it def wasnt from the makings of you... but now i know!

and i agree hov and kanye better cut a slice of that check for this man, cuz that sound is definitely memorable lls

  • Could've sworn it was only a Curtis Mayfield sample. Good work Pete Rock

  • If Kwame managed to use this in "Only You" back in the 90s with no problem, then I would think Jay-Z and Kanye could get it together to get this man his money.

  • Pete Rock did produce the song The Joy but it was also Kayne's responsibility to clear the sample clearance he was Executive Producer to the album....Just like when DJ Quik produced So Addictive by Truth Hurts, Dr Dre got sued for now clearing the sample clearance...look at WorldStarHipHop on Syl Johnson explaining his lawsuit....RZA also used this song for the Wu Tang Shame On A Nigga song

  • Pay the man!

  • pay the man kanye!! & Jay!! what is rwong with thise milljonairs???

  • KANYE DIDN'T PRODUCE "THE JOY"... IT WAS PETE ROCK..

  • @larry89 Pete Rock made the original beat, but Kanye modified it. Kanye sampled this. He just crapped it, and they get even sued. What a stupid move.

The complete production credits for The Joy are: "Pete Rock, Kanye West, Mike Dean (add.), Jeff Bhasker (add.)"

  • @larry89 Fuck Kanye West.

  • @larry89 It was actually the both of them. Pete rock layed a beat, kanye added the intermittent samples. How can you sit there and say Pete Rock singlehandedly produced that whole track. he laid a foundation, that kanye put influence on as well. give credit where credit is due.

  • These guys are MULTI millionaires, they need to pay their way now. It's different when you are in the basement grinding.

  • And by the way, I'm not some crazy Jay-Z/Kanye West fan that's making excuses for them. I stated the previous comment because I'm standing up for producers, song writers and musicians that face this problem on a more consistent basis outside of Jay-Z and Kanye West.

  • Don't get me wrong, I do think they should pay him for the sample. But what's crazy is that the media and what not ran with this story acting like this is the first time someone has sampled someone's likeness. There are waaaay more cases where music has been sampled, down right stolen, and used without permission prior to a release of a song. Oh wait, since it was on Watch the Throne this is a MAJOR story now. Whatever.

  • Does anyone know a man by the name of ahhhhhhhhhhh..........Kool G Rap? "Rated X".

    Go listen jerks. OK BYE!

  • ugh! un! Sampled that little piece now he needs his cut. Pay SYL JOHNSON,,, JAY & Kanye

  • Hut one hut two hut three hut!!! Old Dirty Bastard live and uncut! / Styles unbreakable shatter proof for the young youth! You wanna get gun shoot! Blow! !!!!

  • @blackphuture Petey letting Kanye take all the heat lol

  • PAY HIM U GREEDY MOGULS!!! DONT LET GREED TAKE AHOLD OF U!!!

  • kanye and jay....pay the man..

  • @choppawop Its amazing how fast shit spread on the internet lmao. Look how many likes you got in 19 hrs.

  • JAY Z and KANYE WEST GETTIN SUED FOR STEALIN THIS OFF SLY ... THUMBS UP..

  • were does the sample appear ??

  • @HOVA09 the "ugh" sound he makes is the sample

  • and I don't think Syl johnson actually wrote this joint or produced it he just performed it... so if they followed the proper channels maybe his authorization wasn't needed *kanyeshrug... like when jay said "oh yeah I sampled your voice you was using it wrong... I know who I paid god, serchlite publishing" y'all quick to jump on somebody

  • Seriously Kanye west And Jayz Pay That Nigga. How can you talk for your black people and then rob another brother without paying him !?? PAY Syl Johnson !!!

    (Syl Johnson-Different Strokes)

  • I thought pete rock made the beat on the WTT album lol, from what I understand of the music business the label has to get clearance for samples otherwise it can't make the album, like "all falls down" which had lauryn hills voice at first but then Ye switched it to sylena johnson singing the actual words... sample prolly didn't clear...

  • this is why i don't sample respect real musicianship

  • Bottom line is weather its jes a " huh" or not if u don't want to pay up then don't use it... Come up wit ur own simple sound. I'm sure he's not askin for a really large amount of money plus artist get budgets from their label for things like this the money wouldn't even be comming outta jayz and kanyes pocket.

  • Its because of the "Ugh" at 0:05 ... there seems to be a "similar" one in The Joy at 0:23 secs... put The Joy on iTunes, listen to them both and you'll see what he's talking about.

  • First of all, they sampled Curtis Mayfield, not Syl Johnson... so ummm, yeah, fuck all that noise.

  • @rakilli nah b this is gotta have it

  • @rakilli which they cleared it thru his people or this shit wouldnt have make the album, i agree

  • worldstar

  • Pay up! Weather its jes a "huh" or a scream or whatever.... If any of us was to make a track and sample jayz or kanyes voice without there permission they would sue us for everything.... In the beginning of the dear summer freestyle jayz says to all the producers " do not sample my voice or I'm commin for 700 percent" swizz beats sampled Hov on "imma hustler" and "bring em out" probably cuttin jay a small check and when jays greedy ass seen how much money he missed out on he made this statemen

  • Get off Ye DICK.. He aint steal shit.. Pete Rock made this.. Kanye got it from Pete Rock probably assuming it was sampled was cleared. And Sly Johnson just a old bittter ass nigga.. How much money do that nigga want for a sayin "uh" wtf.. get out here. Kanye is a sampling genius he has no reason to steal from no one. Fuck out here wit that bullshit..

  • @Str8Bmxin Yu Sound Dumb Af Foo , Sampling IS Stealing If Yu Dont Pay For That Sample & If Syl Johnson IS Da Artist Who's Voice Is Being Used Den He Does Need To Get Paid Its Kalled Royalties & Copyright Foo , Jus Like Wit "Otis" Dat Sample Had To Be Cleared Like Kanye Jus Got Caught Slippin & If Anybody Is On Ye Dick Its YU My Frienn Kause Yu Stickin Up Fa Da Nigga Wen He Dead Ass Wrong Like He Yo Lil Brother Or Sumn , But Its Okay Syl Still Fina Get His Money For Dat Sample & Then Some!!

  • Comment removed

  • @Str8Bmxin You sound like a fucking dick rider. It's on Kanye and Jay-Zs album and they didn't pay up.

  • WORLDSTAR

  • uhh huhn worldstar brought me here for my curiosiity. I didnt know what song it was until i heard this. My question is....if jay-z and kanye been in the music game for a long time how the hell they aint know that thats an illegal way to do music. like i would think theyd know better whether they took the sample purposly or not they was pose to ask and make sure that they were not copyright infringing. I pressed like by the way.

  • Kayne & Jay-Z pay Sly Johnson for his work

  • pay the fuck up kanye

  • The RZA used this track too dopeness

  • Pete Rock stole this not Kanye

  • @MrJocjones "Pete Rock let the needle drop" it gets more attention by saying Kanye and Jay-z lol

  • LIKE if the damn SUIT BROUGHT YOU HERE

  • Kanye West and Jay-z brought you here

  • yes lol

  • @AMuellsRUNS YES, I MUST ADMIT THEY DID! LOL!

  • sue!

  • "add a little sugaaa( uhhhhh!!)""

  • Kanye west stole his track

  • @TheSkolla i know, i never like that nigga

  • @TheSkolla Bullshit. Kanye sampled the "UGH" without crediting him, that's ALL. Nothing serious -.-

  • doesnt even sound like the joy fuck off

  • @jewflaps and you dont know shit about music. you're a disgrace to the irish people.

  • @jewflaps stfu idiot and listen to the joys "UHHH"'s and yes he used his voice dum ass not his beat!

  • @jewflaps They sampled the "UGH" sound that this man used.

  • syl johnson's catalog is tremendous! but they listenin! and syl johnson aint the only one! ''GET THE SAMPLES CLEARED''! if only ''JAB'' the drummer from the james brown ''HITS'' could have gotten some royalties for being one of the most sampled drummers of all time, if not he sure is #1

  • Kanye, Jay-Z and Pete Rock should have cleared it but really? Are you gonna sue because somebody sampled UGH! and shit? That's mad childish.

  • @Scotlank exactly what I was thinking lol. I could have made the grunts and all I woulda needed was an autograph lol

  • @Scotlank Hell yeah! Syl made that and should be paid when people appropriate his hard work. Not childish, very grown-up business

  • @mbzzzzzz it would be very grown-up if it actually was music. I'm not gonna go crazy if someone inserts me going AGH! in one of their songs. It's just not worth it arguing about as if its art. I didn't work hard to make that noise. The song? Yeah I worked hard to make the song, but that AGH or UGH! I did not. Come on son.

  • talk like sex!!!!!!!!!!! kool g rap

  • You guys are all some funky ass honkys

  • This is some raw and funky sh*t... Johnson is one of the most underrated soul singers of all time. What a classic tune this is! Thanks for posting it, pirecords...

  • Pete Rock didn't plan on the record being as big is it's gotten obviously...He might've gotten away with it if he threw to Camp Lo but ummmm...man...sorry for you Rock smh...

  • pete rock version better

  • You guys are all stupid, he samples an UUUUGGGGH, why do you need to get paid for that? Curtis Mayfield makes the song.

  • syl gonna sue you now. lol.

  • Pete Rock, the producer of the track, doesn't have to clear a sample for release. Jay-z and Kanye, who's album it is, are responsible for that.

it's just stupid that you would sample a song that has been cleared before by others and not clear it for your album. don't think it was a dick move as much as an oversight i'm sure. it's not like Jay n ye don't have enough money to clear whatever the fuck they want.

  • Blues to Soul flow to Hip Hop

Mississippi to Chi-town to NYC and then the world.

  • im mad kanye to curtis mayfield beautiful life love affirming and song and rapped about aborting black kids and degrading women... sue the mess out then lames Sly!

  • @illholla84 damn straight.

  • kanye deserves to be sued...you cant just take other music and not credit it. damn

  • @7sixesssss No he did credit them. They're just complaining that apparentley they didnt contact or ask permission. But he only like sampled the begging "uhhs" which is hardly music. Or thats the only sample i recognize with first listen

  • @7sixesssss STFU just a hater ..

  • @Kylestylez hahaha...no not really. you obviously have never had someone technically steal from you somehting that u put a lot of work into. and ps...i own and support all of the music kanye has ever put out

  • @7sixesssss Kanye didn't do shit as it's Pete Rock who are the producer...

  • @7sixesssss yea he worked sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hard to make the uhh sound, i heard it took him 2,000,000,000,005 takes.

  • @lildeezyeattle1 You are still a dumbass. You need to credit other peoples copywrited shit... you fuckhead
