I'm not going to read all the comments, so sorry if it has been addressed. I grew up in South Florida and that's where it looks like it took place. I spent a lot of time around boat ramps. When there was a lot of algae we would use a tow strap tethered to another vehicle. I've seen this happen a few times and it is preventable..
wow , poor thing had its frame stretched out. Who did you hire to extract it, a grade school drop out? why not winch it out on its wheels and save it the stresses. Compressed air bags under to help it hop the ledge and tow on wheels...
Couple comments here. First, here is a tow bill I would not want to get in the mail. Second, maybe you should get the recovery for free for how the morons destroyed the bed of the truck with the strapping. And lastly, we wouldn't of had this dilemma in the first place if the owners of this ramp had kept up on the algae removal like they should have. Do I smell a lawsuit? What was the outcome of all of this (financial responsibility, truck's outcome etc) if you don't mind me being nosey? LOL
@getawayred It is such a sad day when the only American car manufacturer had the foresight to build more fuel efficient and powerful cars like the new Mustangs that will run circles around the big block Camaro's. We aren't talking Shelby's either. I know I own a 2007 GT and it has yet to beat on the street or the strip, especially when it is racing between gas stations. My stang gets twice the mileage and beats the best camaro or challenger on the road. Pocketing the savings!
@jkc1975 No, you are the fool....I work on camaros and know about their weak spots, in fact a lot of their valve trains are upgraded with Ford parts. @jkc1975 how is it not a big block? its 427 cubic inches displacement is a pretty heavy argument that it is a big block. the ONLY thing it shares with a small block is the cylinder spacing, and thats just to save weight/space. what does it matter that it doesnt resemble the big blocks of yesteryear? its 2012 dude, i hope they have advanced motor designs since then.

@NICK542542 This is a very true statement. Change the oil out, flush the fuel system and let it dry out a bit and it will start up. Even the computer cars are water tight.
I want to know who the idiot on the crane is? There was no reason to have that wrapped around the bed, and to squeeze the truck like that. Pull it up slowly with the winch and let the water drain............total moron!!!
I don't understand why they had to strap it in th e fender wells..They had it on a winch which should of done the trick. It seems all they did with the crane was kind of crumple the bed.....Maybe next investment will be 4x4 for launching boat?...lol
@bunkerrr5 After 25 years of boating, and at the same lake no less, my buddy got a new SUV and was excited to use it to take his boat out. If I hadn't been there with my 4x4 and my boat, his new SUV would of sank that day. every time he tried to pull forward it just slipped back further. His old truck never did. My pickup nor anyone elses trucks even came close to sliding into the lake that day. So maybe you are not so smart after all. Perfect, Holy, error free and Judgemental as you may be.
did they really need to put that sling around the truck? I'd like to see that happen to an older truck (insurance reasons), have someone dry it out & change the fluids and drive it away as soon as they got the electrical working.

@xKENN3DYx I am an america, kid. I drive a Chevrolet 2500HD with a 6.6 liter diesel. Best truck you could every ride in. Would never drive japanese garbage or a Ford.
@phin3s The only true American car manufacturer is Ford. They were first and all the other guys who started car manufacturing worked at Ford plants. Chevy's are built cheap thats why you see construction workers in Fords, not GM or Dodge products.
@phin3s I got one better than that, a full size Escalade and a 100,000.00 cigarette boat. The boat was still strapped to the trailer when launching. The boat in the water, so did the escalade, total loss. GM products suck....GM - Great Mistake. This truck slid down the ramp with brakes locked. GM vehicles suck! Never had that kind of problem with my Ford. Must be the mentality of GM drivers to state such a stupid thing. GMC - Gotta a Mechanic Coming.
It didnt sink. It just ran out of fuel. I remember that commerical of the new submarine ford that was coming out. I didnt want it. Instead i bought the ford that can climb mountains.
when the tide is low marine plants that grow near the bottom of the ramp are exposed. If the truck has no 4wd, then trying to either use the parking brake or pull out can let the boat slide down with gravity. At some ramps, front wheel drive can be better, since those wheels are on dryer, and less hazerdous ground. your boat has to be small enough to be pulled by it though.
@OTKBoots1 you dont know what kinda of cement it is. It might be verry slippery since in the description it says its happened 4 times on this ramp. plus alge getts slippery as hell so maybe driver maybe bad situation maybe some of both. neither of us were their so we dont know.
Slid down the ramp? Did you spill oil on the ramp first? The only two ways it ended up like that was 1) You put it in neutral and it rolled or 2) It was in reverse and you gave it throttle. I work at a marina and have the same type of launch, and no one has ever just slid down a low angled ramp like that before.
Its not impossible to get one running again after that but it will always have issues with computer and wiring and stuff like that. Best salvage it. Looked like a nice truck. I like Fords. I have had a lot of them. any truck can slip into the water like this. Nothing to do with the name.

Your truck is not ruined...you could always turn it into an aquarium...or perhaps with an undercoating and a little waterproofing, add pontoons to that sucker, put a couple of chase lounges in the back with a cooler of beer, and hire out as Red Neck Fishing trips.

Your truck is not ruined...you could always turn it into an aquarium...or perhaps with an undercoating and a little waterproofing, add pontoons to that sucker, put a couple of chase lounges in the back with a cooler of beer, and hire out as Red Neck Fishing trips.
