  • I play and I think I have a continental grip! well basically my index finger is slightly up and I have a v from my thumb to my index that,s probebly a different grip!

  • People shouldn't get too caught up in worrying about what the name of the grip they use is. Just learn what works for u. This and other vids are good to learn the basics and fundamentals and advantages to certain and positions etc.. That said, grip is the most important thing to learn in my opinion to get a consistent swing.

  • I use this contenental in double backhand return too.I guess that should be ok?

  • hey when i hold the eastern forehand grip ...im not comfortable with it so can u show how to swing the racket properly ....i mean how should we swing the racket

  • @abhicr9 well... there's less of a swing for the eastern for me personally. For me, it is alot harder to get the ball to stay in the court dependably with the eastern... i mainly use eastern for hard to reach shots. if i have time to set myself, i wouldnt use it.

  • my girlfriend uses the continental grip, and she gets more powerful strokes with it.

  • I can get all the top I need using this grip. I have no idea how people manage to hit using a Western grip. It blows me away that anyone can even twist their wrist like that.

  • Yep, and that's why all of the old people over 50 (old? come on) will be able to keep playing for a long, long time.

If you think you can become an "old" player with a western forehand grip and baseline only play, you're crazy...

You'll be lucky to play until you're 50 w/out major arm, shoulder, back, etc. injuries.

  • Dont know why, but here all the old people (50+)

play with Continental, maybe it's the old grip.

  • I only use continental for serves and for spin in backhand hits

  • @HanKang0 how bout volleys?

  • da vi ebam mater

  • continental or eastern? which one guys?

  • For forehand, semiwestern and for one handed backhand, left eastern (sorry for my english). Continental for me only for serve

  • You also may put spin in the ball with the Continental

  • Hi Coach,i`m from egypt nd here we r using alot of grips but i`m playing with the continental grip but i`m trying these days to change my grip to the eastern grip to give my ball some spin so what do you think are you with me in that or i must play with the continental only or i use both of them ?!!?

  • hi shady, can you tell me how to prepare the continental grip???? please state the chronology or procedures <_<

  • To melancholicEMO26

Ok, hold the racquet up with your non-dominant hand and have the first bevel facing up, then pretend you're having a handshake with your racquet, and there's your continental grip.

  • To ShadyBond007

You need to learn how to play in a few different grips, not just the continental because the continental is for basic stuff like what Brent said.

  • yeah.. too bad youre late sir, I already mastered the grip..and guess what when iam studying, the grip the procedures you said came up. thanks anyway.

hint: i posted this One year ago, I learned the Continental Grip 2 weeks after i Posted my comment ^_^ peace and have a good day sir!
