Proud user of the fools guard( lower guard). No one ever does expect it to really make a difference in a sparring match. I also used it before playing soul calibur, my friend got really pissed at me for using it. Yes, it is effective.
@TDH1198 On premier night, in addition to my small contribution, there were wonderful demonstrations performed by the Clemson University Fencing team, students of the late Mr. Hank Reinhardt & a Belegarth group. For a more complete record of the event, please view the Youtube clip "RTB Premiere Event at The Brooks Center".
@baphomet418 Here is bit of information that you might find interesting. "As of 2000, several million people practice Kendo in Japan, including about 1.2 million who have been awarded a rank-Dan in the art. Kendo is (also) enjoyed by about one million practitioners abroad" per a AUSKF affiliated school's website. Thank you for watching.
Hey Tom, I was in one of your classes at Clemson in Fall '07 and remembered you mentioning this movie. I just happened to come across it on Netflix and watched it. I really enjoyed it.
Nice demo.Looks like everyone did have a great time as well. Was there anyone representing Euro/Western styles there besides the Fencing Team? Just wondering.
Thanks. At the Premier, demos were performed by not only my school but also the Clemson University Fencing team & a Live Action Role Players organization. However, in the film, there are a variety of Western sword arts & organizations being represented. Great stuff!

WOW, the cutting part was unreal.
I would not want to be on the wrong end of that blade.
It only takes one strike and its over!
