straddle the control arm inbetween 2 - 2x4. With a hammer, hit the shaft of the ball joint so that it'll pop out the bottom. Or you can rent the ball joint press/installer at Autozone. Youll get your money back.
@irep88 the bearings where fine bro. I replaced the control arm with an other from the junkyard and I installed new balljoints. So after close inspection, the problem was a bad control arm. The hole wasnt round on the control arm, it was oval. But other than that, everything is good now.
my truck rides really rough roads that have uneven surfaces everywhere make the truck very uncomfortable to drive and when i hit tiny little cracks my front end feels slightly lose big lumps in the road dont make it feel lose what could this be?
@joeldude76 In your case, it may be bad bushings. Check your lower and upper control arm bushings. The ball joint could be bad too. ALso the Struts (front shocks) may be bad already. Checkout my video of part 1 so that you can verify if the ball joint is bad. Also grab the top and bottom of the wheel then move it in and out. This will verify if your wheel bearing are bad. Good luck man.
@SilentOneCorajuda13 i checked the control arm bushings and all of them are cracked like tiny cracks around the edges does this mean their bad? i will need to check for ball joint though and my tires are bald so im sure thats making it ride rough
@joeldude76 the cracks are normal due to dry rot. If the tires are bald on the edge, then there is a problem with alignment. you'll have to check both sides. did u check the upper and lower control arm bushings? The problem is somewhere in the frontend.drop the truck to the ground and push ur body wieght on both fenders. THe truck should bounce a little bit. But if it feels too spongy or mushy, then the struts may be bad. Bad front end struts usually bounce and cause bad vibrations when driving.
@SilentOneCorajuda13 and now that i look at it the inside of the tires are a little more worn down than the outside and my alignmen is off because it pulls to the right slightly and i replaced the front shocks with cheap monroe shocks and the rears with monroe reflexes ( i replaced them at opposite times) i will buy monroe reflex shocks for the front and give you an update because i think mismatched shocks isnt right
Not sure which it was. So I hit the junyard and got A-Arm from a 92 RS 16" wheels. I replaced my whole suspension. So now Im riding SMOOTH. Everything is new; Ball joints, sway bar links, center link, struts, bushings, inner and outer tie rod ends.
I think ball joint, take off the tire and make a new vid of it rocking back and forth showing what you can see. Just had to replace a ball joint on a Pontiac
