  • Playing this for our Winter Concert.

I play flute oboe, but sometimes I play flute. I really enjoy the part when the flutes have that one solo when they trail up and then back down, and etc. The solo for oboe is really boring. D:

  • omg thanks for posting this video. i play the flute and we're playing this in my grade nine concert band, none of the flutes know how to play it, and our teacher wont help us, and all of us learn by hearing the music. thanks again this is really gonna help me learn how to play it kinda

  • my junior high band played this at superstate in illinois and it is counted 123456 3+4+

  • it's a fun tune to play

  • heh, i'm in eighth grade and we are playing this for a concert tonight. You guys aren't even nearly as good as we are, you guys should work on the trumpet part in the 40's. AND your Timpany's pitch and tuning is Way off. And way too loud right before the flute part. i play the flute, that part is soo hard. anyway it sounds okay...

  • @704ank That was a couple years ago. I'm not even in that band anymore.

  • @704ank at una honor band this year my band director hand his students play this which our marching band were already playing and the timpani's are waaaaaaaaaay off tune. but other wise ya'll did very good

  • @704ank lol we played this in highschool. it just for fun. mind you we are a one A school but we kick butt with the band, 126 kids in the highschool band now, im graduated but we played this when i was a senior.

  • im in 7th grade and were playing this im flute1

  • 1st trumpet for this is hard, its worse with the snare on one side banging away, and base drum on the other banging away nonstop

  • im in percussion hahah that sucks, we play this other song called gypsy dance by james campbell. its awesome!

  • playing this song for my band right now. ahaha i'm a flute :P

  • I remember playing this in 7th grade band. I loved it, the time signature was so different from what I'd played before. I played 1st clarinet on it, this taught me to use my alternates for C, C#, and B in the second register. If you don't understand the idea of a constant tempo, this piece is great to help with that. When the music starts to get hard, it's usually nice to not get scared over those changing time signatures all the time, especially when you're going on a technical piece.

  • i play percussion and our band might b playin this 4 our spring concert woodwinds sound hard

  • @mystyka13 lol yea it is kinda hard :P we're playing this song right now for my band hehe

  • dude im percussion too, and im playing this for our ensemble, im in 6th grade, but im looking forward to it. Im playing marimba so ya!

  • I played this in Junior high, can't remember what grade though, it was my first year as 1st clarinet wow that deffinetly got my chops going!

  • I finally found this song!!!! All I remember from playing this in 7th grade is the time signature and title. I am now a senior in high school. Now time to find the other song that's haunting me. Thank you.

  • i played the bass clarinet for this song and i was tryign to hear the cool one measure part he has after the flute solo at the beggining of the piece. i couldnt hear it unfortunately. this was such an awesome song. Though after playing it like 5 times i got sick of it and my band teacher gave me the first clarinet part. AWESOME SonG!

  • what's the time signature on this? this may sound really stupid but im only at a seventh grade level, but i dont think that its in 6/8 or 2/4 in the beginning. i havent seen the music myself, but why is the third and fourth beat faster than the first and second? could someone explain this to me?

  • It's in 6/8+2/4

The eight note stays constant, but it's counted like both. So you count it like 123456 1&2&. It stays the same tempo, though.

I hope that helped. I'm not really good at explaining things like this.

    xoxo-Ashleigh

  • @kaggy12 You can also discribe as a hemiola of 5/4.

  • @kaggy12 in my band we count in 10/8 its simpler

  • i love playing this... i play tympani. little problem... we've now only got two tympani

  • I play percussion for this song =] =] Triangle, claves and triangle!! WOO! I LOVE THIS SONG! =]

  • im second clarinet in this song yet its still really hard! lol

  • I played this song in 7th grade. Sadly, I was 3rd trumpet :( I like this song a lot though. It is amazing.

  • The Baritone sax part for this is so... Boring, I love it but by the time you're finished you're sick of the bass line. The end is a bit more fun though

  • haha i remember when i played this in junior high it was hard as heck since we were only able to play at a grade 2-3 level and our teacher pushed us past our limits it was a great year :) ty for posting this brings back memories

  • Lol. I'm in junior high and my teacher is trying to make us play this song, even though we suck xD

  • 5* nice!

but trumpet backed off a little bit in the beginning when he started to play... and ouch, the baritone kinda let his lips go about halfway through the beautiful part @ 4:00... lol i play that part on Bass Clarinet and it sounds amazing.

  • this song is deceptively fucking tricky on tenor saxophone. And for the guy who was asking, the tenor sax has the solo. If it's the solo i think you're talking about.

  • I have to play the timpani in this. It's really hard, mind you we've only played it once.

  • im on my just about ending my third year why

  • wow, that's nice, my symphony played this piece, i got maracas lol, it's probably just the vid or my laptop but the percussion is a little bit too loud. i don't mean that as an insult, just kinda sounds like it with the snare and timp but percussion always seems to stand out more for me haha. i really like everything else though, perfect.

  • my second Question is are you playing the tymphony part with a snare drum? If so I need to no who came up with that and why?

  • Hi my band is new to this piece and me and my friend are playing Oboe. I need to know who has the Solo us or the Tenor Sax's they are sort of playing over us and our Band teacher say's they have the solo not us Does this band have any Tenor Sax's, if it does did your band teacher tell them to not play their part? I need answers before March

  • Please, before you comment my videos just to insult it, check your spelling and grammar. Thank you.

    xoxo-Ashleigh

  • were doing this for our upcoming concert, and i have to say we sound better... im sure it sounds better if u were actually there, but still...

  • the oboe really needs to work on his/her solo im an oboe player and he/she missed 50 percent of the solo and the tuning was somewat scary :)

other than that and procution it was awsome

  • Well exactly how many years have you played Oboe?

  • I also play the oboe for this song & noticed the same thing.

    you're right.

  • the wind section does very good, exept the percusion section was weak.

for some reason during the timpany solo i heard snare drum playing.

i didnt even here snare drum at its entrance, 24.

and there was no triangle marrocos and suspended cymbal.

im playing this song in school

  • Wahh~ We just started playing this song in my band class today. I'm new on percussion for this year, and I'm giving the snare drum part a try. Seeing as how I've never used the drum kit, it's rather overwhelming e.e;! The 6/8 + 2/4 time time signature is so catchy, though! I was tapping the rythm all through lunch~ xD

    I'm so looking forward to working on it. I just with the percussion was louder so I could hear it better and get an idea of how it's supposed to sound e.e;

  • anyone know where i can find this piece played as orchestra and not band? I'm in orchestra and is starting to play this <.< hope i do good... Anyway the video was really awesome!

  • Not saying you guys aren't good. You guys are great, but what happened to the part where the trumpets play the sixteenth triplets around 8 measures after 24, that's one of my favorite parts of the song.

  • You're probably thinking of another song. There isn't a part wrote like that.

  • No, we're playing this in band now, and I'm first trumpet for it. I know about it, the part took me about an hour of practice.

  • o.o wow. really good!!

  • naw i loved this piece... was one of my faves..

    got us gold at festival..

  • we play this in a 7th grade band!! up to this level!!

  • I did this in middle school! It's such a fun piece. And the sad fact is my high school band was not up to this level....

  • This was a fun piece to play. Our middle school wasn't that great...

The sound is really quiet, but everyone did splendidly!
