This movie was so boring they couldn't even find enough scenes to make a good trailer, even with the misleading voiceover. Hell, even UPN did a better job of overselling bad episodes of VGR and ENT!
I think they even used a shot from tng, where the Borg cutting beam is going into the hull, probably from the Best of Both Worlds. Quite a few recycled shots there from First Contact and Generations. As for Insurrection, some of the stunt man effects are unrealistic, you can tell they are just throwing themselves off the bridge. In reality you'd probably be knocked to the floor from that impact.
Just like the trailer for Generations, this trailer is a bit misleading. Makes it sound like Picard and crew go against the federation but they really don't.
Yeah that footage is re-used from First contact... kinda odd though its only a teaser so they prob didnt have many of the cgi shots done when they made this trailer... Though the non inclusion of quantums is a bit dumb...
Yeah, they really made it seem like one rogue admiral going insane instead of Picard seriously taking on the Federation. There should have been at least potential shooting between the Enterprise and other Federation ships.
@bamapagedesign I agree. First Contact was excellent. Insurrection could have been better but it was still good. Nemesis was shit and the reason was that Jonathan Frakes was not in charge. He said it himself that if he was allowed to direct then it would have been better and I agree.
@codemannz See, to me, First Contact was pretty good. Nothing more. Insurrection had a fantastic premise, but suffered from poor implementation. Nemesis was not good at all. Frakes would have taken a good novel and made an even better movie. The new movie was "just ok." Star Trek needs to stop trekking back in time and start moving forward again. Time for a new show. A new Enterprise. A new crew. A new century.
I would have liked to see it on the big screen, but my family weren't fans of Star Trek. As much i have loved it upon seeing it on video, the screening of it would have been better on a wider screen. And to top it off was that gallant score of Jerry Goldsmith.
The Trek movies werent' as good as the series; even the original series. I felt like with the TOS films, the director, producers, etc... were trying to hold on to that "old-series" feel...the series were much better.
It makes it look like other Federation ships are shooting at the Enterprise...but they're not. I think the ST teaser trailers are the most misleading of all time, none moreso than First Contact.
Insurrection really was the unimpressive TNG movie. Then again First Contact is the only TNG movie I can say I LOVE. Generations I hate because of how much disdain Berman and Braga had for TOS, and the way they killed Kirk. Insurrection is pretty much tame, and uninspired...
had it followed the original concept of the TNG crew truly REBELLING against the feds, that would have made it a stand up movie, but its just not... and NEMESIS was pretty much limp dick dramatically from the 45 minutes of cutting they did.
No, they aren't all great. Some are great, some are good, and some are bad. This one IS forgettable. Star Trek has a very specific style of story telling, and most of the TNG movies basically totally forget about it. The legacy, the real legacy is the dream of Gene Roddenberry, a man with a great vision that was ignored 60% of the time.
You are obviously a prisoner of paradigms. Without the ability to evolve. The ST Universe is about evolution, not living in the past. BTW, TNG is the last of Roddenbury. He hand-picked the cast, Not Berman.
The ST universe is a program to discuss today with tommorow, it has a message of humanity becoming more then it is, yes... but what YOU don't get is the entirety of the TNG movies were handled by everyone but Roddenberry, his creative capacity was greatly diminished near the end, and most of Star Trek has not been in his control, filled with regurgitated stories, dull characters, very little development,
very little genuine drama, and very few decent stories. Babylon5 had more genuine emotion and story then most of the post Gene Trek mythos. Firefly had more story, drama and intelligence then four seasons of Enterprise could muster.
Star Trek has been a direct part of my life since I was a 4 years old. I have the original 1964 pitch by Gene Roddenberry. I know what Star Trek is. You're psuedo smartass with the inabbillity to pick between Good Story telling, and poor Story telling, not all Star Trek is good, most of it is mediccre in fact. Voyager, DS9, and Enterprise were done without any input from him, TNG was started by him, but the middle and end were handled by Rick Berman.
No, YOU don't get it. the Star Trek legacy only lives on if the TV shows and movies are at least good. Most of the movies and later TV shows havn't been.
The trailer makes the movie feel like the Federation is the bad guys that Picard and company are going to have to stop it, as well as the aliens trying to take over the Baku planet.
This darker tone would have made for a better movie.
I JUST DRESSED UP AS A THOLIAN FOR MY HIGH SCHOOL CLASSES TODAY XD XD, THEY HAD TO EVEN CALLED THE COPS XD

What does Picard say in the Justice Debate Scene ("How many people does, it take, Admiral??")
Picard: And it will destroy the Ba´ku. Just as cultures have been destroyed in every ____ forced relocation throughout history.
Could someone help me with the gap?

It was planed with a darker tone. It was even planed as a drama where Data would die.
But then Paramount came and said "nono, we want to have a funny movie like STIV" and they had to change the whole script :(
