  • Can I send a link to a public dropbox folder with the map in it?

  • @Perrytwelve yep

  • where should I send the links (Dropbox doesn't allow entire folders to be linked)?

  • @Perrytwelve zip it up, and upload to dropbox/mediafire etc then send me the link :)

  • I haven't seen or heard of a deadline. Is there any?

  • @OululainenIhiminen It has to be in by the time I check on the 6th of feb.

  • @jigarbov I'am near done any way, I'll just have to test it a bit, and balance a little.

  • Also, Jig, since I'm not really aloud to go on youtube (I'm using mobile youtube on my Nook Color right now), can you make an email addresss for me to send you the world save? Should I use mediafire or megaupload, or what, as well?

  • Does it have to have redstone?

  • @lunermario123456789 It must have some sort of redstone system in place. Be it a iron door controlled by a button, or an elaborate redstone puzzle.

  • What would you rather, a .zip or .rar file?

  • @MorrisTheHorris Either is fine :)

  • What if I grew a tree, and due to the time I spent working on the map, the tree grew outside of the boundaries. Would I be disqualified?

  • @masterdarts8 Yes because it would have been an intentional attempt to breach the size restriction. Lots of entries so far have trees.

  • @masterdarts8 Unless it was an accident... in which case I would cut it off and then it would look stupid :p

  • @jigarbov Well it would be an accident. Would an ugly tree take away points? D:

  • @masterdarts8 of course! Art is a grading criteria.

  • @jigarbov Could I have a portal to the nether/end as the final goal? I don't want to put too much detail about what I was going to do with it so no one steals my idea =P. But the goal would to just reach it by doing some "tasks". Nothing would be in the end/nether, but it technically goes out of the area...

  • @masterdarts8 Going into a portal would probably then break the rules as you have a 20x20x20 area, but once you go through the portal you have more space, which would be in violation but in a different dimension.

  • can we see the entry's untill now? becouse we couldn't find any , ( only 1 ) Any links?

  • @mastanrobertin No, I might do a little video showing the outsides of them all and maybe how I measure them. But I wont be showing the main encounter... Don't want people stealing their ideas :D

  • Next few questions, how do I send it to you and is it okay if it can only be played like four times before have to be reset

  • @Pistachio6981 you can upload to mediafire or something then pm me with a link

  • Next few questions are, how do i send it to you and is it okay if the map can only be played like four times before things have to be reseted

  • @Pistachio6981 I have an entry now that can only be played once (tnt) but it's also one of the best entries I've gotten so far in terms of atmosphere. The only issue I have with replayability is that you need to be able to finish the challenge. So for example if you place an item on a pressure plate, and the item despawns and you can no longer reach that pressure plate and therefor cannot beat the challenge... then it would be considered a bug.

  • Would it be okay if I sent you the world map and make it bigger with scenery on the outside but all functions would fit into the 20x20x20, and could be moved into the air and still function

  • @Pistachio6981 If you want, but you wont get any extra score. Everything graded must be within the 20x20x20 area Since I'll be cutting them out and putting them into a totally separate map.

  • mmmph! i need the snapshot for my map so you can spawn mobs from dispensers! PLEEEEASE, jig? :D

  • @TheMojopo Nope sorry! Must work in 1.1.

  • Q:can you send a schematic

  • @TerracraftGaming Sure can. However any signs you have in the map wont be copied over... I don't think.

  • @TerracraftGaming Actually scrap what I just wrote. I just received a schematic and the signs loaded just fine... However I had heard reports saying that some signs go missing. Just something to keep in mind. :)

  • Can we have multiple things inside the cube? Like multiple sidequests?

  • @peanutm712 Yeah, you can fit as much as you like in it. It can be as complex as a mini adventure or as simple as a single epic puzzle.

  • I'll be watching you...

  • nice FAQ :)

  • am I allowed to have a monster start in a particular spot. I am not sure if it would work in the schematics, and I think that the encounter would need to be at the start of the map (so the player can't walk away and the monster can't despawn.

  • @jamesahibbard You can for the sake of the competition, however it probably wouldn't be there in the adventure map. I wouldn't rely on it too much.

  • "I'll be watching you..." ahahah lols

  • Hmm just posting my thoughts as the video goes on:

1:51 Yes, you can't jump while on a ladder in 1.1 (at least I can't). So pretty much all ladder parkour is impossible :(

That also means no Invisible walkway :'(

2:14 Wait, I don't get it. That person & hut you built is outside the encounter :O

So can you please re-explain the thing about beauty/aesthetics of the build & how you can start & get gear outside the encounter area & yet it still considers as part of the encounter :S

  • @anistuffs The person and hut I built was the top portion of the encounter (but still part of it) It counts as part of the space and acts as a sort of "intro" but still a part of it. The area below would have to be like 15~ tall to accommodate it. The encounter as a whole doesn't have to be a battle. You could have an empty room with a potion stand, ask the player to make 3 fire potions, deposit them onto a pressure plate to open a door and that would count as an "encounter".

  • @jigarbov Oh I see, I got confused with you saying make the area beautiful & stuff :S

Another question, how does copy-pasting in mcedit effect ImageToMap maps?

My guess is that since they are saved as part of the world folder, they are not saved, but I could be wrong. Please tell me I'm wrong :(

  • @anistuffs It probably doesn't work, though since I said you can use any tools to make your encounter I can't say it's against the rules to use them. However they may get lost in translation into the bigger map when I compile them all.

  • @jigarbov Yeah, okay, makes sense.

Too bad though. That would've made the storytelling a LOT better than just a jungle of signs :S

Ah well back to the drawing board :)

  • @anistuffs Map_notes are a seperate .dat file. You can't include them with a schematic unless you bundle map_0.dat (or whatever number it is) with it.

  • @Nirgalbunny Yeah, maybe there are ways to include them but that idea's gone out the window since for some reason I can't seem to install .net framework 4 (which is needed to run Imagetomap). I keep getting errors in the install. Maybe because I'm running XP SP2 :'(

  • Okay Jig, seriously, at least let me watch the video before making me shout in laughter just from the desc, sheesh XD

  • Ha! Best description ever!!! I think I'm going to try!!!

  • Okay i got mine build i will make a video on it later you make a video and post it as a video response to the first video about this? i will also have a link to the map in the DES of my video and game play is that what you want for a entery? (i hope so :D)

  • @mackapoot Yep, I look forward to it :)

  • @jigarbov okay video respose sent i hope please tell me u got it D: if not i think the video should be on my utube page :D

  • I love the end of the FAQ, lol

  • @TJMonk94 I don't know what you're talking about ;)

  • I have some redstone under the floor of my encounter which is in the 20 block height but not the blocks it is on top of. Do I need to bring the roof down one block or does that count as "not part of the encounter"

  • @planetfall666 If I copy and paste the 20x20x20 and put it in air, it will probably not work because there would be nothing supporting the redstone, correct? In that case it is a required part of the encounter and therefor is counted in the area. You'll have to lower your roof it sounds like.

  • @jigarbov Aight, thanks.

  • how to make block invisible

  • @AqworldLancer621 I have some good invisible block videos on my channel. Just go to the main page and search for invisible.

  • MAY WE USE ELEMENTS FROM OTHER PPL'S VIDEOS

  • @Joopez1 You can't just go and copy someone elses build, be it in a video or not, but using inspiration from places is a fine way to create something new. Also you don't need to write in caps. I read all comments :P

  • Creativity? I've got that down. You'll love my idea. I haven't started working on it yet, and I've got school tommorow... I'll find time.

  • @AnonymouslyAgnostic plenty of time remaining :)

  • Will hiding the redstone count...? I mean, I can easily do so, I'm pretty freakin' awesome when it comes to incorperating redstone into my builds, but... I'm going for abandoned industrial theme, with "frayed" wiring and stuff.

  • @AnonymouslyAgnostic Not sure how you mean. I don't mind seeing deco redstone sticking out and looking all industrial. But the entire encounter (including any circuits) has to fit the 20x20x20 area.

  • we have to have the redstone in the 20x20x20 area? ffs -.- i just finished and theres to much redstone to fit in the area. thanks for clarifying that before i wasted all day.

  • @minecraftdoneright It was clarified in the first video, as well as in the description and multiple times in the comments. Most of the FAQ's in the description here were copied from the first one.

  • @jigarbov it doesnt say anywere the redstone itself must be in the 20x20x20 box -.-

  • @minecraftdoneright Copied from the unchanged section of the previous description "The encounter must fit a 20 by 20 by 20 cube. It MUST include redstone in some sort of working fashion." This was part of the script that I read out word for word. As well as within the original faq on that video. This rule wont change. Sorry you miss understood and wasted your day. Luckily there is still 14 days to go.

  • @jigarbov i cnat fit all the redstone into such a small area -.- good job, you just fucked anyone who wanted to actually enter something cool.

  • @minecraftdoneright Then don't enter. Not my loss. This competition is to celebrate a milestone, not sure why you have to come here and be all angry because you didn't understand the rules :/ Start again or move on. The rules wont change for anyone or reason. We're done with this conversation here, it's too negative! If you still have issues you can pm me, but I wont change my mind.

  • lololololololo awesome FAQ they are FUNNY

  • I can't wait to enter, I'm not really fussed about the prizes (not that I would say no though) but the fact that it could all be put together into one big map really excites me. Possible minecrafts 1st community adventure map?

  • @ox0bradley0xo I think I saw someone trying something like this a long time ago... not sure how well it went though as I don't recall seeing a follow up.

  • Q: are multiple people allowed to work on the map?

    (didnt see it any where)

  • @mackapoot I don't see why not. However it would only count as 1 entry, so you could only win 1 prize. 20x20x20 is a pretty small area for a 2 person build though.

  • Im working on mine

Love your videos, simple but effective

  • @gordogreat14 Good luck! and thanks :)
