@stormbringer27 the movie, insidious is good because it's suspensful and keeps you guessing until the mid-end, and it has its fair share of jumpy moments ..

fims that weren't in your list, but i would recommend : IT, Poltergeist, Jeepers Creepers, The Descent, The Wicker Man, The Silence of the Lambs (more of a thriller, but infamously chilling).

those movies all managed to scare me intensely. i hoped this helped :)

@saltypop13 yeah i have seen a few on that list, been a big fan of the hannibal lecter series for awhile, watching most of the poltergeist movies and i used to love jeepers creepers when it came out but only realy found the first one that scary but still enjoyed the second, i need to check out the others you listed though, thanks for reccomendations, heard a few people mention insidious so that'll be the first i'll look at :)

I'm sorry, but today's horror/terror flicks don't have any 'punch in the guts' type feel of the 70's - 80's greats. SAW and all these half-baked 70's remakes just don't have any meaning or leave you with a shudder the way the great's did. Putting heavy metal music in and saying 'Oh yes, there will be blood' or 'Let the games begin' and have a little vantriliquist puppet on a tricycle ride around everywhere caters to 12 - 17 yr olds. And even then these movies don't stick with these kids.

@MassiveM110 It's not exactly a slasher film! It has an extremely creepy and eerie atmosphere and the strangers themselves are terrifying! The setting is one of the creepiest parts of The Strangers! I wouldn't call it a slasher because they killed ONE PERSON and it wasn't even in slasher killing format! They tied them up and tortured them by stabbing them over and over again! It's more of a torture/home invasion creepy film than a slasher film! They are basicly making their lives misery in this!
