when the hunting season ends the galgos are seen as a costly burden and its cheaper to get rid of them and buy new ones in the next season than to keep them alive for a year. Its a tradition in Spain to hang them so as to punish the dog for poor hunting performance, slower dogs being hung lower from the tree so they suffer for longer, they even have the nick-name "piano players" due to the way thier back feet kick the ground as they are dying :(

A new generation of compassionate young people in Spain are saying no to this terrible cruelty, we must support them and encourage Spanish government to implement animal protection laws immediately. All animals need respect and care.
There can be no excuse for such vicious cruelty. Many of these greyhounds are brought from Ireland. The Spanish people are steeped in a tradition of violence towards animals i.e. bullfighting and now this sickening attrocity. I just want to puke.
