"Taxes affect my every day more than, you know, reproductive rights do." Not if you were denied birth control, would up with an unintended pregnancy, etc. etc.. Wow.
She says she's an atheist because she's a moral slob--the same thing a lot of combative religious people say about atheists. She's an airhead but cagey enough to realize that there's a niche market for atheists who cater who cater to religious conservatives. There are a number of bigots who appreciate validation from a couple members of the group they hate. Anti-Semites often value anti-Semitic Jews & a good many white racists have a soft spot for Uncle Ruckus types who dump on fellow blacks.
She is so obviously spewing BS. She basically calls her self amoral (or at least less moral than theists). Then there is the fact that she focuses on Christianity and how she has not been "found" yet. Even agnostics do not act like this.
"I get..I understand the allure of religion" That doesn't make it right nor does it make it credible or even relevant. The fact that this women obstinately claims to be an Atheist makes me cringe. She states that she doesn't judge the way people make decision biased on their beliefs. Yet minutes earlier states, its important that a president has a religious siding, to better make decisions... S.E. Cupp is a contradiction inside a paradox warped in a box, filled stupid...
"This is a person who is answering to a higher power every night [...], that's important to me". What!?!?! You've basically established you'd rather have a schizophrenic leading our country than a rationally, forward thinking adult... Her intellectual dishonestly is bewildering! "Why would i want some who thinks 98% of the world is crazy running the country", because its irrelevant to his stance on matters of national importance.
I am, quite literally, rendered speechless by this women - not in a good way either. Does she play a part similar to Stephen Colberts' Fox news satire, except in reverse? Or is she really that diluted about her "position"? She claims to be a staunch atheist yet she displays a complete lack of realism towards the subject... "religion keeps a person [...], honest". No, WRONG! Morality does that no some omnipresent deity.
You know those idiots who think Obama is a Muslim? I can understand their reasoning...
I'm an Atheist, so when Obama says he's a Christian, I believe him. It's something that I have to take his word on, but I'm willing to do so.
But with Cupp, when she says she's an Atheist, I have to raise an eyebrow. Really? You're an Atheist, but you're constantly ripping on Atheists and telling Christians that they're SO AWESOME and right about everything, and you would just LOVE to be one of them.
But with Cupp, when she says she's an Atheist, I have to raise an eyebrow. Really? You're an Atheist... but you're always ripping on Atheists and telling Christians that they're SO AWESOME and right about everything, and you would just LOVE to be one of them... That's very uncharacteristic of an Atheist.
Right-Wing Christian Nutjobs think the exact same way about Obama. They have a mental set of requirements that someone would need to fulfill (i.e. is Republican) to qualify as 'Christian'.
So they mark Obama as a Muslim, because he's not a Christian the same way they're Christian(TM). If he isn't a Christian... he must be a secret Muslim...
It's hard for me to say that someone isn't a 'Real Atheist' without feeling dirty about breaking No True Scotsman. It really is, but to me, S.E. Cupp is to Atheism what Joe Lieberman is to the Democratic Party. They wear the title of one group while actively trying to undermine that group.
Oh for goodness sake, if she thinks that it's religion that keeps people on a "correct moral path," then who the hell is she to say which one is right? This lady is a walking contradiction. It's not the Atheist conservative; that's all fine, but honestly, I bet she cannot even tell you why she's an atheist...
I appreciate that even though she's an atheist, she is not the hateful, militant type. I think it's cool that she is not hateful toward Christianity or Christian people.
"Today’s culture is dominated by the philosophy of mysticism (irrationalism)—altruism—collectivism, the base from which only statism can be derived; the statists (of any brand: communist, fascist or welfare) are merely cashing in on it—while the “conservatives” are scurrying to ride on the enemy’s premises and, somehow, to achieve political freedom by stealth. It can’t be done."
Where did S E Cupp come from? I started seeing her on MSNBC & thought I was watching a School Teacher Porn. Is this a real person? She seems like a parody of several useless people. And that name? Does anyone have a link to the video 'Two Girls and an S.E. Cupp? I can see her doing that.
What a fraud. From the use of those initials in her name to the ubiquitous glasses, she is SO trying to be something she clearly is not...an intellectual. What atheist gets a graduate degree in religious studies? She shoulda stayed a ballet dancer cuz I will admit, she's got nice legs.
"I was raised as hard-working and independent" explaining why she became conservative. Yes because are qualities that only define conservatives. What a bunch of garbage.
She kept looking on her left when talking about Obama, same shit Clinton did when he lied to the American people about Monica. Body language people, body language...her eyes became small too hahahahaha the truth has a fixed head while lies can travel the whole globe and come back in few seconds bohahaha
Hitler spoke to a higher power, his of course. Hitler killed 6 million Jews in Europe. Do you find comfort in that Miss SE tea party Cupp ????? when Obama took over office, this lady did not like it, she thinks Obama is very dangerous and it is her duty to remove him with the help of the higher power, of course. She is very dangerous, but most people can't see that unless they read between the lines. back to Hitler...he answered a higher power that is called Satanic power.why Bush is different ?
She is a fan of somebody who killed 2 million people in Iraq and Afghanistan and on 9/11. What's his name ? governor bush, yeah governor! because that was the last job he got legally...Why can't she say: I am against all religions except Christianity that she is defending ???? I think that she is using Religion to attack religion and hijack people's faith ;-) she is smart but not wise yet LOL Jews and Muslims should watch out from this lady...mark my word beautiful people...right it down...
come on s.e....you haven't closed the door on faith because most of the right are christian. You can't alienate your base. these are the people that buy your books. lol i love that your not an "angry" athiest..lol that's all i come across is angry athiest. I don't understand them either.
I DONT UNDERSTAND shes hot, got an MA and is an atheist yet she's FUCKING dumb (not so much of a surprise considering the hotness, but a surprise considering the MA) and she FUCKING DEFENDS INSTITUIONAL RELIGION.
George Bush didn't beleive in limited government. GW had the same agenda as Obama, he just didn't escalate things as fast as Obama because he couldn't get away with it. I disagree with S. E. Cupp on the scores that I give GW... I give him all F's and I give Obama all F's as well. The next "selected" president will have the same agenda.
I agree with dlbattle, I think S.E. Cupp is a well groomed actress. She has a pretty face and a good story line. I really think she says she is an atheist just to give herself a mystical thought in everyone's head. This is the first time I have ever seen S.E. Cupp and I can't see alot of difference in her and the other well paid Glenn Beck only she doesn't have a TV program yet. I really think she has been placed in her position to confuse conservatives and liberals alike... Buyer Beware!
god id tear s.e up......what a babe.........i pray shes never been probed by liberal dick leftist loser pencil dicks....shes only worthy of the best conservative dicking possible-------lol!!
Correcting another post, Christopher Hitchens is an atheist but he is NOT a conservative. His objection to fascism (religious fascism in recent years) and support for US efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan do not make him a Republican.
Correcting another post, Christopher Hitchens is an atheist but he is NOT a conservative. His objection to fascism (religious fascism in recent years) and support for US efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan do not make him a Republican.
@lovemaker94 You need a better translator, you are not making any sense whatsoever. I am finished talking to someone who cannot communicate normally. How am I monk and an atheist (correct spelling)? Piss off you fool.
@lovemaker94 I stand by what I said- she is the worst person in the world. I don't understand why you're freaking out on me with just complete nonsense. You are a sad person and I hope you learn to conform full thoughts that have relevance to what you may take issue.
@RACISTASSHOLE You fool. Atheism is merely lack of belief in a deity. Just because someone supports Christian movements due to the benefits they bring, doesn't mean they violate any "codes of atheism."
She doesn't believe that there is a God, therefore she is an atheist. She likes the idea though, and thinks it's beneficial, but she's still an atheist.
After traveling more than 60,000 miles over the past two years to virtually every crack and corner of this vast country, my studied observation is that the ratio of Christians to non-Christians who are true freedom fighters is probably no better than 50%. I will further say that often times Christians are actually greater enemies to freedom than are non-Christians. I never thought I would hear myself say that, but, today, I really believe it.
@ShishirYerramilli Well, it's from a hard-core conservative Pastor. So not only is he not unbiased, he would be biased for the religious side! And if a person like him says there's no difference between believers and non-believers... that's even better.
@jessc1979 I check him out and he sounds like an average Ron Paul supporter! Indeed he is a politician to the right of Bush! His gripe is with evangelicals who he thinks promoted to Bush to an American Fuhrer! His words!
Such a source! He is more of a libertarian than conservative Christian, OF COURSE he wouldnt care for Christian support of mainstream Republicans. He craves the independent/libertarian vote!
hahaha ,please next time try and quote a pastor who is NOT a politician!
@ShishirYerramilli Who cares if he's a politician? I judge people by their actions not simply from their occupation as you do. And he's not a full-time politician anyway, he only ran twice as far as I know, so stop bringing the fact that he's a politician up because you're desperate.
If anything, it proves he's more honest because he's not some Republican hack who always tows the party line. And yeah, Bush is a little bit like a dictator, where have you been?
@ShishirYerramilli Bush isn't a dictator? Patriot Act, outing spies, signing statements, use of torture. Yeah.. *you're* the one to talk about credibility.
@jessc1979 Last time I checked ,Bush was restrained by Congress , was subject to elections and left office. Some dictator and oh BTW if Bush is a dictator using the criteria you mentioned Obama is far far worse!
@ShishirYerramilli Restrained by Congress?? Holy shit, do some reading for a change. What, somebody can't act like a dictator if he only has 8 years? There aren't actual despots who lasted shorter than that?
And yeah, you're right, I think Obama is a bit like a dictator too. Both of them have legitimate cases for impeachment against them
@jessc1979 You seem to be severely retarded, are you sure you are allowed to drive?
Bush was elected in and served his two terms and left the office, what type of dictator is that. Congress in 2004 and 2006 shot down his social security reform proposal, the Senate selection of Harriet Myers, restricted funding for the Iraq War.Bush was guilty of cronyism but thats not authoritarianism!
So you think Obama is also a dictator, let me guess do you subscribe to Lyndon LaRouges newsletter?
@ShishirYerramilli I don't know who Larouge is (maybe I heard his name somewhere).
Just how bad does somebody have to be to be 'a little bit like a dictator' in your book? Would he have to serve for a lifetime and not have to deal with congress and then he would be a dictator? Wow, that's a lot of lee-way, no wonder America got so screwed by their leaders.
A couple of shoot-downs by Congress and that's it? Yeah, he wasn't a full-blown Gaddafi dictator but he wasn't just a mere cronyist either.
@jessc1979 "so stop bringing the fact that he's a politician up because you're desperate."
Desperate? Project much? Everytime someone tells me to STOP bringing up some point because its irrelevant is a clear sign that they are on the losing side as they are no longer able to argue on merits of their idea and have to demolish the trump card of the other!
Nothing makes that more clear than your lame justification "I judge .. actions..,not occupation",well genius, his job defines his actions!!
@ShishirYerramilli I already demolished ur 'politician' argument dipshit. It's ppl like u who are desperate and quite stupid ("bush" isn't a dictator). I'm doing u a favor by telling u not to use dumb arguments.
Not all politicians are the same, and I said, he's not a full-time politician. Only a lame person who doesn't think and can't spot a tyranny when it's waterboarding him would judge somebody simply by his occupation.
Jobs don't define actions as much as character does.
@jessc1979 Oh shut up you idiot. Referring to elected Presidents as dictators is the mark of a damn fool!
Yes name calling and making unsubstantiated claims is not desperated at all, despite the fact that Bush unlike FDR and Wilson(both democrats) did not censor speech, unjustly imprison innocent civilians(Japanese Americans) and political demonize opponents as enemies of the state.First go and criticize them and then we can talk.
Also idiot, politics is job that overwhelms your entire being!
@ShishirYerramilli Now you want to change the subject again and get me to focus on Democrats instead of Bush. Getting a little desperate because you can't defense ur position anymore?
Politics is a job that overwhelms your entire being? Maybe the crooks you support, but I go for people are ideologically consistent unlike Bush and Obama. (Hey, I just criticized Obama! Hope your head didn't explode).
@jessc1979 Why do you keep proving your stupidity! Of course I will bring up other wartime Presidents to compare ! Bushs presidence did not occur in a vaccum and has to be analyzed in the proper historical context. If you are too braindead to take that into consideration thats not my problem!
"Jobs don't define actions as much as character does."
You can keep repeating that ,it wont affect the veracity of my statement about politicians
@ShishirYerramilli Your statements aren't true. You can compare all you want, bring up Hitler, FDR, Obama, etc, and get me to criticize them first, I'm not going to fall for your little trap, dummy.
@ShishirYerramilli I'm guessing you meant that comment for me. And just to prove how much of an idiot you are, show me where I'm a big liberal supporter of Obama...
@ShishirYerramilli You, with ur LaRouche again. I can think for myself, unlike you.
Yeah, I'm a leftist, maybe that means I'm *more* likely to support BO, but I don't. I think for myself and would never vote for him. Only a fool would do that.
A little bit like a dictator is not quite the same as a full-blown dictator.
@ShishirYerramilli And what makes you think he's more libertarian? True, he's for the legalization of marijuana (in some form), but he's against gay in the military and gay marriage (he still uses the term sodomites), takes the Bible literally and is against abortion.
Even if he was a libertarian, that doesn't change the fact that if anything, he would be biased *against* atheists. There's no reason why wouldn't he want the Christian vote as much as any other.
@jessc1979 Well he is a libertarian who doest "tow the party line"(see that works both ways). His positions on the foreign, domestic policy, state rights, economy are almost identical to Ron Paul.If you are too thick to see that, thats not my problem!
What gives you the idea that libertarians are biased AGAINST athiests?!!That is one of the more stupider claims you have made(which is saying a lot).
Oh he does want the Christian vote, but he sure has a funny way of going about it!
@ShishirYerramilli I never said his policies are not identical to Ron Paul, I said he was more conservative than libertarian. If you couldn't read that, that *is* your problem. And by the way, he ran on the Constitution Party ticket, not the Libertarian Party's.
And I also didn't say that Libertarians area against atheists, I said that even if he was, that wouldn't change anything. What would make somebody more likely to be biased against atheists is being a conservative evangelical christian.
@jessc1979 I never claimed that you said he was unlike Ron Paul. All I did was pointed out a fact! Not only you cant read but you are also retarded!
Ron Paul also ran on the Constitution party ticket ,and there is significant overlap between Constituion and Libertarian!
I see your clumsy attempt at propaganda- Pastor Baldwin is good because he is a useful idiot who criticizes mainstream conservative Christians, but he is bad because HE is a conservative Christian!
@ShishirYerramilli "His positions on the foreign, domestic policy, state rights, economy are almost identical to Ron Paul. If you are too thick to see that, thats not my problem!" <-- The inference is obvious. Now you're a liar too.
When did Ron Paul run on the Const. ticket? He's got endorsements and ran on 1988 Liber. Not that there isn't overlap.
And when did I say that Baldwin was bad because he was a conserv. christian? I just disagree with him but respect his consistency.
@jessc1979 In the flurry of responses, I overlooked that, that was my mistake.
Now onto better things.
He stopped running on the Const party as it is two party system! And he wasnt making much headway.
You dont care for conservative Christians or their ways and call a leader they admire(rightly or wrongly,I dont care that much for Bush either) a fascist.
You say you dont think conserv Christians are bad but using the inference method, am I to conclude that they are good.
@ShishirYerramilli R we talking Ron Paul? When did he run on Const Party ticket? You mean Liber ticket in 1988 right? So yeah, I agree that it's not practical to run as a 3rd party because of various elements in American politics.
Conservative christians may have admired Bush initially, but like liberals now, they cooled to him (not completely) eventually.
Saying cons. christians are not bad is not the same as saying they are good. Some are good, some are bad.
@jessc1979 Yes conservatives have cooled on him (including myself)
But I can criticize someone without calling them fascists!
We have cooled on him because he turned out to be more liberal than anticipated-No child left behind, medicare, nation building and yes curbing of civil liberties for suspects. It is possible to criticize the latter without resorting to fascism slur!
I never all cons Christians are perfect, but that athiests ascribe only the worst motives to them.
@ShishirYerramilli Your problem is you can't see fascism when it's in front of you. Somebody doesn't have to be a full-blown dictator to be practicing some form of fascism. I think I did say, "a little bit" like a dictator. You're the person who brought Hitler up, not me.
And only conservative Christians would exaggerate about atheists. Like Baldwin, I find both good and bad people on both sides, but overall, yeah, cons. christ not that good for the country.
@jessc1979 What you call "fascism" I call big govt intrusion and yes all Presidents are guilty of this at some point or the other, I am in favor of drastically shrinking federal government and restore more power to town, municipalities, districts and upwards to states and so on.
Most towns can govern themselves wtithout any assistance from DC.
I believe in seperation of church and state and feel religion should be a private matter but witness what a godless society has done to Western Europe!
@ShishirYerramilli I won't (at this time) argue with the first 90% of this comment since it's a different discussion (although I agree with most of it). But before I say anything, I would like hear, specifically, what you think a godless society has done to Western Europe. It may not be as religious as the US, but it's not *that* godless is it? England has an official religion, Germans are forced to pay tithes (Hitchens), the Vatican is there, etc.
@jessc1979 The Vatican is nation unto itself where its "citizens" are also the wards of the church. It is purely voluntary.
Yes it is bizarre that Queen of England is also head of the Anglican Church and that Germans pay tithe(you learn something new everyday) ,these are quaint customs that have no bearing on the behavior of their citizens. Religious observance in Western Europe in general is at all time low.The people are filled with spiritual malaise which explains their low birth rate.
@ShishirYerramilli Ok, but aside from low birth rate, could you tell me (and I ask this sincerely) what problems has godlessness caused in Europe?
On the birth rate thing, honestly, I'm not that bothered by it. It might be good for the planet if the overall population went down slowly. Unfortunately, this isn't happening in a lot of other counties and I don't see a connection between spirituality and having a high birth rate.
@jessc1979 Well for one ,the average person is unable to stand up to Islamist self confidence and the threat of Muslim demography. The flipside to this is people resort to desperate last minute measures such as banning hijab or minarets( which are clearly discriminatory).Americans have no need to do so as their belief systems accomadate Muslim and other faiths from a position of faith than weakness.
The ideal birth rate is between 2.2 and 3.4 per woman, any less -extinction, any more-3rd world!
@ShishirYerramilli I thot the ideal birth rate (for replacement) was closer to 2.1 per couple. But anyway, I thought the problem with Islam in Europe has more to do with their immigration policy of letting anybody in while having them live segregated and not assimilated so they just stay in their communities and watch Al-Jazeera all day. I don't see this as having to do anything with faith vs. non-faith. That's just my view.
@jessc1979 2.1 is the bare minimum yes but slightly higher is better.
Sure Europes knuckleheaded policy of elites importing foreigners but not allowing them to assimilate due to the entrenched heirarchies in education and jobs( racism in Netherlands and Germany others like France is more due to a tinge of ancien regime) didnt help matters
As the Muslims get more vocal and self confident, the native Europeans dont have a corresponding value system to fight them with, hence the current stand off
@ShishirYerramilli What value system are we talking about? Why would you need to be religious to have a value system? Europeans might not be as religious, but there are quite enough of them aren't there (I don't have the exact numbers). As Christopher Hitchens has shown, there isn't an ethical saying an act that a believer can make that a non-believer wouldn't.
The only way I could see more religion preventing the problem is if they become like Queen Isabella and become intolerant of muslims.
@jessc1979 I really dont care too much about what christopher hitchens says or thinks, I often find him provocative and informative but his conclusions are reached through a convuluted Trotskyite logic which I find hard to accept.
What value system? The normal bourgeois ethic-hard work, church, family, patriotism etc, etc,(had thesebeen maintained, there would be no need for Isabella) which werediminished by the Left, there is very little to fill thatvoid and leaves them open to an Islamic Conquest
@ShishirYerramilli Hitchens is one of our most astute essayists. Not right all the time but worth listening to.
Ethics/Hard Work/Patriotism, etc. These are things that both believers and non-believers can have/do. So no, it's not godlessness that is causing problems in Europe. Is there a solution that can only be done by believers? Anybody can be against any evil brought on by other religions.
America is more religious than most of Europe, yet it's falling behind in many indicators
@jessc1979 You have left out family and religion,ah they are intertwined arent they? Ethics ,hardwork and patriotism mean absolutely nothing in the long term in a framented society.
America is falling behind Europe??!!!An incredible claim! What indicators? America's economy is more sound(note the implosion of the European model) , American divorce rates may be high hey but atleast Americans get married!
And we already covered the demographic disaster in Europe.NYC crime rate is lower thanParis
@jessc1979 Healthcare and education are indeed terrible. In both cases I side with Republicans because they argue for the lesser evil. However that is not enough.
It is easy to spend a lot on healthcare if you tax your citizens 35% upwards(minimum) and dont spend much on defense(thats what U.S is for).
U.S currently has the worst of both worlds-a rapacious system where HMOs and pharmaceutical rule the roost and all the while taxpayers get stuck for the medical bills of illegal immigrants.
@ShishirYerramilli No major arguments on any of them except I'm not convinced that the good family values that non-believers share are necessarily religiously inspired. Did they not have good family values before Christ (or Abraham if you prefer).
I can't imagine any pre-Abrahamic (or Eastern religion) society surviving without some of the values that you and I are referring to.
@jessc1979 Also forgot to mention you are making the false assumption that no religion existed before the major existing organized religions such Judaism,Hinduism,Taoism(I singled these out as they are the oldest existing religions and pretty much all other major religions today sprung from them)
Sure there was a supernatural belief system before organized religion but they were a Darwinin might is right type animistic belief systems which prevails in Africa even today despite their ..contd
@jessc1979 thin veneer of Islam or Christianity. This explains to a great deal why Africa has remained in the current state and has trouble forming stable two parent family structures which are essential for a healthy society(they are either polygamous or matriarchal) ,are unable rise above tribal loyalties to form viable nation states.Witness how most of African corruption is actually tribal nepotism with no conception of a greater good!
@ShishirYerramilli Family and religion are intertwined? Sure. But you could easily be an atheist with strong family values and that wouldn't be a contradiction.
And we've all heard of people who were shunned by familly members because they stopped believing in their religion. Heck, I met an ex-fundamentalist a few weeks ago who converted away from it in a few days through reading 1 of Dawkins' books. He didn't tell his family 4 fear of how they wld react. I've never seen this with ex-atheists.
@jessc1979 I dont doubt that there are very devoted decent individuals with strong family values(such as Hitchens). However their values are part of the establishment they grew up and are religiously inspired even if they do reject the religion.
Its hard to belive in this day and age, families shunning their members for the relatively trivial offense of apostasy when more grave sins such teenage pregnancy(see Palins) are forgiven. Those are rare but do occur, but are less frequent intheWest
@jessc1979 Forgot to mention ,I prefer Theodore Dalrymple to Hitchens. He is also a British athiest Jew but thats where the similarity ends.Unlike Hitchens, he has witnessed first hand the collapse of British society in particular, Europe in general and attributes not just to lack of religion but lack of purpose due to the expanding welfare state(and he links the two)
No one is against evil brought by other religions but it pales in comparision to the evil brought by athiest regimes such as USSR
@ShishirYerramilli "Bush isn't a dictator." Yeah, that's *not* a stupid claim by any stretch.
What's so funny about his way of going about getting the Christian vote. Oh right, being honest and calling it like he sees it instead of pandering like the rest of the Republican Party. I'll take honesty from a conservative rather than fake Christian posturing from liberals anyway, and I'm not even close to being a conservative.
And if u think being against abortion a& gay marriage is libertarian...
@jessc1979 Being "honest and seeing it like it is" .....right like referring to evangelicals as supporting their Fuhrer!
Thats a good ,sound ,reasoned argument!!BTW speaking of athiests, Hitler and Nazis were incredibly hostile to Christianity(which they considered a Jewish fraud) as it sapped the German spirit.
You are in good company indeed!
Oh and there were plenty of gays among Nazis as well!
The founder of the abortion movement Margaret Sanger hated blacks and wanted them sterilized
@ShishirYerramilli Why would you bring up all those Atheist arguments as if I took the position that 'All atheists are good'.
First of all, Hitler was a Catholic. The Catholic church celebrated his b-day. 40% of the SS were Catholics. 6 years in to the Hitler era, only 1.5% of Germans were unbelievers. You don't think the entire Nazi Party came form that 1.5% do you? Hitler's definitely not in my company.
I don't know who Sanger is, but hey, Bush executed a lot of black people when he was gov.
@jessc1979 Hitler was not a practicing Catholic anymore than Marx was a practicing Jew!Sorry such lame attempts at misdirection will not work!
You are an idiot, there is a vast difference between executing criminals(who happen to be black) and having a conscious scheme of eliminating the black population via eugenics.
@ShishirYerramilli Executing criminals 'who happen to be black.' Wow, what a dreamer.
Saying that Hitler wasn't a practicing Catholic is another of those lame excuses people keep propagating. And hey, let's say he wasn't a Catholic, he did make a lot of use of them, it's not like they restrained him or anything.
@jessc1979 Due to the Great Society,War on Poverty ,Sexual Revolutions and other liberal projects, the black society was especially devastated and the resulting disproportionate crime among young black men is the sorry result.Nothing racist in saying that. After all ,young British whites are victims of the same dysfuntions(read Theodore Dalrymple)
Yes the Catholic Church didnt sufficiently condemn HItler.Thats due to Pius' lack of moral courage and integrity rather than sympathy for the regime.
@ShishirYerramilli Jesus, why are you going off on the black society. First with that Sanger person and now this. I thought we were talking about evil Atheists have done, and why we're talking about that in the context of Bush's regime, I don't know.
And ok, I'll agree with your statement about the Catholic church.
@ShishirYerramilli My point about abortion was to show that Chuck Baldwin was a conservative. Libertarians can be against it too but it's 50/50 with them. That was my point about it. Not about who is wrong or who is right, that's a different discussion. You can look up my comments again.
And true, atheists are usually not against abortion, but a lot of religious are the same.
So yeah, let's say this Sanger person was a racist, doesn't change anything about Bush.
Reproductive rights don't concern you? Isn't that an inherently "small government" position? You know, keeping the man (BIG government) outta ya snizz.
I'm sorry. but anyone who yields to a higher power and is rather concerned about pleasing such a higher power rather than their state does not deserve to be in power.
Those who would rather vote a religious man than one who commits themselves to academia also does not deserve to participate in our nation's political discourse. Anti-intellectualism will be the end of us.
People keep saying that C-Cup is a liar. I beg to differ. She is not smart enough to be a liar. She truly believes every nut-case thing she says without regard to the fact that she contradicts herself from moment to moment. I think that at some point in her life there were several minutes in which her brain was oxygen starved. We should feel sorry for this woman; she's an invalid.
@Jack194343 -- I guess it's better than being hate filled jackass, ain't that right homey? How you like that ass of yours cooked? Seared or over easy?
the president is supposed to answer to the american people...so she says that she would rather have a president who answers to an imaginary friend instead of a president who answers to over 308 million REAL people...and then she claims that she's an atheist...atheist my ass!!!
What I find interesting (from a critical perspective) after the fact that she is tremendously vapid, are her gestures. Observe her closely, she speaks and moves just like a stripper. Not that being a stripper is bad, but it is definitely a profession that attracts people like SE Cupp, promoting a point of view without any real understanding of it. In the case of strippers I refer to feminism, in the case of Cupp I refer to atheism. Her exaggerated hand motions, mouth movements and facial motion
16:25 why is tit that every so-called intellectual liberal seems to think that just because you have faith you walk around having a constant conversaton with God in your head? I mean seriously?
Am I supopsed to tkae this interveiwer seriously now as an objective non-biased figure. Give me break.
For the record, people of faith do not "hear voices" or have back and forth convrsations with God.
She's not an atheist, she's a liar. The only reason she says she's an atheist is to establish some thin layer of unbiased credibility, and it's obvious when you listen to the things she's defending that she's christian.
@drpeppa2357 I agree. Its almost as if its a conspiracy concocted by FNC, the Discovery Institute, and the Tea Party (hyperbole, btw). One day she'll accept Jesus in her life. She'll be a recovering atheist. When one determines that he/she is a nonbeliever, it is quite a liberating experience. The entire concept of faith and dogma then seems silly & childish. Forget about voting for an atheist president, a true atheist awaits the day when faith isn't even an issue in a presidential race.
yeah she call me and 10 million ameicans stupid and lazy for smoking marijuana if you think we are stupid and lazy give me a thumbs down if you think shes the lazy stuiped one give me a thumbs up
she's agnostic not atheist. i'm atheist libertarian and i cringe and roll my eyes when conservative leaders talk about god and social issues. oh my god , people are turned off by that so they vote for left wing socialists. we need an atheist libertarian running for president under the gop ticket. a person who is for gay marriage , abortion, legalization of drugs. religious people need to stay out of politics , please it's 2011! when somebody is against gay marriage , i am like wtf.
Her gimmick is wearing a cute dress shirt with a tie and Elvis Costello glasses juxtaposed with alot of skin and revealing her body which is as hot as the next porn star's..
This woman is absolutely delusional. How can she possibly claim to be an atheist and whole heartedly admire a man who claims to answer to a "higher power" who she doesn't believe in? There is something fundamentally wrong with that way of thinking.
Part of the confusion is that the % of people that are atheists and non-religion are very different. The % of people that are atheists is always globally under 5% but non religious is often 15% or higher. She is using the conservative estimates on Atheism as 'non-religious'- But she is referring to her own kind of non-religion, ie. atheism.

Anti-Semites often value anti-Semitic Jews & a good many white racists have a soft spot for Uncle Ruckus types who dump on fellow blacks.
loupgarou5z3w 2 months ago

"Why would i want some who thinks 98% of the world is crazy running the country", because its irrelevant to his stance on matters of national importance.
binx2629 3 months ago

TConX 4 months ago
So they mark Obama as a Muslim, because he's not a Christian the same way they're Christian(TM). If he isn't a Christian... he must be a secret Muslim...
It's hard for me to say that someone isn't a 'Real Atheist' without feeling dirty about breaking No True Scotsman. It really is, but to me, S.E. Cupp is to Atheism what Joe Lieberman is to the Democratic Party. They wear the title of one group while actively trying to undermine that group.

@ShishirYerramilli Who cares if he's a politician? I judge people by their actions not simply from their occupation as you do. And he's not a full-time politician anyway, he only ran twice as far as I know, so stop bringing the fact that he's a politician up because you're desperate.

jessc1979 4 months ago
@jessc1979 You seem to be severely retarded, are you sure you are allowed to drive?
Bush was elected in and served his two terms and left the office, what type of dictator is that. Congress in 2004 and 2006 shot down his social security reform proposal, the Senate selection of Harriet Myers, restricted funding for the Iraq War.Bush was guilty of cronyism but thats not authoritarianism!
So you think Obama is also a dictator, let me guess do you subscribe to Lyndon LaRouges newsletter?
ShishirYerramilli 4 months ago
@ShishirYerramilli I don't know who Larouge is (maybe I heard his name somewhere).
Just how bad does somebody have to be to be 'a little bit like a dictator' in your book? Would he have to serve for a lifetime and not have to deal with congress and then he would be a dictator? Wow, that's a lot of lee-way, no wonder America got so screwed by their leaders.
A couple of shoot-downs by Congress and that's it? Yeah, he wasn't a full-blown Gaddafi dictator but he wasn't just a mere cronyist either.
jessc1979 4 months ago
@jessc1979 "so stop bringing the fact that he's a politician up because you're desperate."
Desperate? Project much? Everytime someone tells me to STOP bringing up some point because its irrelevant is a clear sign that they are on the losing side as they are no longer able to argue on merits of their idea and have to demolish the trump card of the other!
Nothing makes that more clear than your lame justification "I judge .. actions..,not occupation",well genius, his job defines his actions!!
ShishirYerramilli 4 months ago

ShishirYerramilli 4 months ago

ShishirYerramilli 4 months ago

Yeah, I'm a leftist, maybe that means I'm *more* likely to support BO, but I don't. I think for myself and would never vote for him. Only a fool would do that.
A little bit like a dictator is not quite the same as a full-blown dictator.
jessc1979 4 months ago
@ShishirYerramilli And what makes you think he's more libertarian? True, he's for the legalization of marijuana (in some form), but he's against gay in the military and gay marriage (he still uses the term sodomites), takes the Bible literally and is against abortion.
Even if he was a libertarian, that doesn't change the fact that if anything, he would be biased *against* atheists. There's no reason why wouldn't he want the Christian vote as much as any other.
jessc1979 4 months ago
@jessc1979 Well he is a libertarian who doest "tow the party line"(see that works both ways). His positions on the foreign, domestic policy, state rights, economy are almost identical to Ron Paul.If you are too thick to see that, thats not my problem!
What gives you the idea that libertarians are biased AGAINST athiests?!!That is one of the more stupider claims you have made(which is saying a lot).
Oh he does want the Christian vote, but he sure has a funny way of going about it!
ShishirYerramilli 4 months ago
@ShishirYerramilli I never said his policies are not identical to Ron Paul, I said he was more conservative than libertarian. If you couldn't read that, that *is* your problem. And by the way, he ran on the Constitution Party ticket, not the Libertarian Party's.
And I also didn't say that Libertarians area against atheists, I said that even if he was, that wouldn't change anything. What would make somebody more likely to be biased against atheists is being a conservative evangelical christian.
jessc1979 4 months ago
@jessc1979 I never claimed that you said he was unlike Ron Paul. All I did was pointed out a fact! Not only you cant read but you are also retarded!
Ron Paul also ran on the Constitution party ticket ,and there is significant overlap between Constituion and Libertarian!
I see your clumsy attempt at propaganda- Pastor Baldwin is good because he is a useful idiot who criticizes mainstream conservative Christians, but he is bad because HE is a conservative Christian!
haha, you are just clueless!
ShishirYerramilli 4 months ago
@ShishirYerramilli "His positions on the foreign, domestic policy, state rights, economy are almost identical to Ron Paul. If you are too thick to see that, thats not my problem!" <-- The inference is obvious. Now you're a liar too.
When did Ron Paul run on the Const. ticket? He's got endorsements and ran on 1988 Liber. Not that there isn't overlap.
And when did I say that Baldwin was bad because he was a conserv. christian? I just disagree with him but respect his consistency.
jessc1979 4 months ago
@jessc1979 In the flurry of responses, I overlooked that, that was my mistake.
Now onto better things.
He stopped running on the Const party as it is two party system! And he wasnt making much headway.
You dont care for conservative Christians or their ways and call a leader they admire(rightly or wrongly,I dont care that much for Bush either) a fascist.
You say you dont think conserv Christians are bad but using the inference method, am I to conclude that they are good.
ShishirYerramilli 4 months ago
@ShishirYerramilli R we talking Ron Paul? When did he run on Const Party ticket? You mean Liber ticket in 1988 right? So yeah, I agree that it's not practical to run as a 3rd party because of various elements in American politics.
Conservative christians may have admired Bush initially, but like liberals now, they cooled to him (not completely) eventually.
Saying cons. christians are not bad is not the same as saying they are good. Some are good, some are bad.
jessc1979 4 months ago
@jessc1979 Yes conservatives have cooled on him (including myself)
But I can criticize someone without calling them fascists!
We have cooled on him because he turned out to be more liberal than anticipated-No child left behind, medicare, nation building and yes curbing of civil liberties for suspects. It is possible to criticize the latter without resorting to fascism slur!
I never all cons Christians are perfect, but that athiests ascribe only the worst motives to them.
ShishirYerramilli 4 months ago
@ShishirYerramilli Your problem is you can't see fascism when it's in front of you. Somebody doesn't have to be a full-blown dictator to be practicing some form of fascism. I think I did say, "a little bit" like a dictator. You're the person who brought Hitler up, not me.
And only conservative Christians would exaggerate about atheists. Like Baldwin, I find both good and bad people on both sides, but overall, yeah, cons. christ not that good for the country.
jessc1979 4 months ago
@jessc1979 What you call "fascism" I call big govt intrusion and yes all Presidents are guilty of this at some point or the other, I am in favor of drastically shrinking federal government and restore more power to town, municipalities, districts and upwards to states and so on.
Most towns can govern themselves wtithout any assistance from DC.
I believe in seperation of church and state and feel religion should be a private matter but witness what a godless society has done to Western Europe!
ShishirYerramilli 4 months ago
@ShishirYerramilli I won't (at this time) argue with the first 90% of this comment since it's a different discussion (although I agree with most of it). But before I say anything, I would like hear, specifically, what you think a godless society has done to Western Europe. It may not be as religious as the US, but it's not *that* godless is it? England has an official religion, Germans are forced to pay tithes (Hitchens), the Vatican is there, etc.
jessc1979 4 months ago
@jessc1979 The Vatican is nation unto itself where its "citizens" are also the wards of the church. It is purely voluntary.
Yes it is bizarre that Queen of England is also head of the Anglican Church and that Germans pay tithe(you learn something new everyday) ,these are quaint customs that have no bearing on the behavior of their citizens. Religious observance in Western Europe in general is at all time low.The people are filled with spiritual malaise which explains their low birth rate.
ShishirYerramilli 4 months ago

ShishirYerramilli 4 months ago
@ShishirYerramilli I thot the ideal birth rate (for replacement) was closer to 2.1 per couple. But anyway, I thought the problem with Islam in Europe has more to do with their immigration policy of letting anybody in while having them live segregated and not assimilated so they just stay in their communities and watch Al-Jazeera all day. I don't see this as having to do anything with faith vs. non-faith. That's just my view.
jessc1979 4 months ago
@jessc1979 2.1 is the bare minimum yes but slightly higher is better.
Sure Europes knuckleheaded policy of elites importing foreigners but not allowing them to assimilate due to the entrenched heirarchies in education and jobs( racism in Netherlands and Germany others like France is more due to a tinge of ancien regime) didnt help matters
As the Muslims get more vocal and self confident, the native Europeans dont have a corresponding value system to fight them with, hence the current stand off
ShishirYerramilli 4 months ago
@ShishirYerramilli What value system are we talking about? Why would you need to be religious to have a value system? Europeans might not be as religious, but there are quite enough of them aren't there (I don't have the exact numbers). As Christopher Hitchens has shown, there isn't an ethical saying an act that a believer can make that a non-believer wouldn't.
The only way I could see more religion preventing the problem is if they become like Queen Isabella and become intolerant of muslims.
jessc1979 4 months ago
@jessc1979 I really dont care too much about what christopher hitchens says or thinks, I often find him provocative and informative but his conclusions are reached through a convuluted Trotskyite logic which I find hard to accept.
What value system? The normal bourgeois ethic-hard work, church, family, patriotism etc, etc,(had thesebeen maintained, there would be no need for Isabella) which werediminished by the Left, there is very little to fill thatvoid and leaves them open to an Islamic Conquest
ShishirYerramilli 4 months ago
@ShishirYerramilli Hitchens is one of our most astute essayists. Not right all the time but worth listening to.
Ethics/Hard Work/Patriotism, etc. These are things that both believers and non-believers can have/do. So no, it's not godlessness that is causing problems in Europe. Is there a solution that can only be done by believers? Anybody can be against any evil brought on by other religions.
America is more religious than most of Europe, yet it's falling behind in many indicators
jessc1979 4 months ago
@jessc1979 You have left out family and religion,ah they are intertwined arent they? Ethics ,hardwork and patriotism mean absolutely nothing in the long term in a framented society.
America is falling behind Europe??!!!An incredible claim! What indicators? America's economy is more sound(note the implosion of the European model) , American divorce rates may be high hey but atleast Americans get married!
And we already covered the demographic disaster in Europe.NYC crime rate is lower thanParis
ShishirYerramilli 4 months ago
@ShishirYerramilli Worth looking into.
I believe America is behind in health care and education. That's not so incredible.
jessc1979 4 months ago
@jessc1979 Healthcare and education are indeed terrible. In both cases I side with Republicans because they argue for the lesser evil. However that is not enough.
It is easy to spend a lot on healthcare if you tax your citizens 35% upwards(minimum) and dont spend much on defense(thats what U.S is for).
U.S currently has the worst of both worlds-a rapacious system where HMOs and pharmaceutical rule the roost and all the while taxpayers get stuck for the medical bills of illegal immigrants.
ShishirYerramilli 4 months ago

ShishirYerramilli 4 months ago
@ShishirYerramilli Family and religion are intertwined? Sure. But you could easily be an atheist with strong family values and that wouldn't be a contradiction.
And we've all heard of people who were shunned by familly members because they stopped believing in their religion. Heck, I met an ex-fundamentalist a few weeks ago who converted away from it in a few days through reading 1 of Dawkins' books. He didn't tell his family 4 fear of how they wld react. I've never seen this with ex-atheists.
jessc1979 4 months ago
@jessc1979 I dont doubt that there are very devoted decent individuals with strong family values(such as Hitchens). However their values are part of the establishment they grew up and are religiously inspired even if they do reject the religion.
Its hard to belive in this day and age, families shunning their members for the relatively trivial offense of apostasy when more grave sins such teenage pregnancy(see Palins) are forgiven. Those are rare but do occur, but are less frequent intheWest
ShishirYerramilli 4 months ago
@jessc1979 Forgot to mention ,I prefer Theodore Dalrymple to Hitchens. He is also a British athiest Jew but thats where the similarity ends.Unlike Hitchens, he has witnessed first hand the collapse of British society in particular, Europe in general and attributes not just to lack of religion but lack of purpose due to the expanding welfare state(and he links the two)
No one is against evil brought by other religions but it pales in comparision to the evil brought by athiest regimes such as USSR

And if u think being against abortion a& gay marriage is libertarian...
jessc1979 4 months ago
@jessc1979 Being "honest and seeing it like it is" .....right like referring to evangelicals as supporting their Fuhrer!
Thats a good ,sound ,reasoned argument!!BTW speaking of athiests, Hitler and Nazis were incredibly hostile to Christianity(which they considered a Jewish fraud) as it sapped the German spirit.
You are in good company indeed!
Oh and there were plenty of gays among Nazis as well!
The founder of the abortion movement Margaret Sanger hated blacks and wanted them sterilized
ShishirYerramilli 4 months ago
@ShishirYerramilli Why would you bring up all those Atheist arguments as if I took the position that 'All atheists are good'.
First of all, Hitler was a Catholic. The Catholic church celebrated his b-day. 40% of the SS were Catholics. 6 years in to the Hitler era, only 1.5% of Germans were unbelievers. You don't think the entire Nazi Party came form that 1.5% do you? Hitler's definitely not in my company.
I don't know who Sanger is, but hey, Bush executed a lot of black people when he was gov.
jessc1979 4 months ago
@jessc1979 Hitler was not a practicing Catholic anymore than Marx was a practicing Jew!Sorry such lame attempts at misdirection will not work!
You are an idiot, there is a vast difference between executing criminals(who happen to be black) and having a conscious scheme of eliminating the black population via eugenics.
ShishirYerramilli 4 months ago
@ShishirYerramilli Executing criminals 'who happen to be black.' Wow, what a dreamer.
Saying that Hitler wasn't a practicing Catholic is another of those lame excuses people keep propagating. And hey, let's say he wasn't a Catholic, he did make a lot of use of them, it's not like they restrained him or anything.
jessc1979 4 months ago
@jessc1979 Due to the Great Society,War on Poverty ,Sexual Revolutions and other liberal projects, the black society was especially devastated and the resulting disproportionate crime among young black men is the sorry result.Nothing racist in saying that. After all ,young British whites are victims of the same dysfuntions(read Theodore Dalrymple)
Yes the Catholic Church didnt sufficiently condemn HItler.Thats due to Pius' lack of moral courage and integrity rather than sympathy for the regime.
ShishirYerramilli 4 months ago
@ShishirYerramilli Jesus, why are you going off on the black society. First with that Sanger person and now this. I thought we were talking about evil Atheists have done, and why we're talking about that in the context of Bush's regime, I don't know.
And ok, I'll agree with your statement about the Catholic church.
jessc1979 4 months ago
@jessc1979 Thats because you brought up abortion(promoted by athiests) which Sanger was the godmother of, and the allegation of racism against Bush.
My response was appropo to those allegations.
ShishirYerramilli 4 months ago
@ShishirYerramilli My point about abortion was to show that Chuck Baldwin was a conservative. Libertarians can be against it too but it's 50/50 with them. That was my point about it. Not about who is wrong or who is right, that's a different discussion. You can look up my comments again.
And true, atheists are usually not against abortion, but a lot of religious are the same.
So yeah, let's say this Sanger person was a racist, doesn't change anything about Bush.

I'm sorry. but anyone who yields to a higher power and is rather concerned about pleasing such a higher power rather than their state does not deserve to be in power.
Those who would rather vote a religious man than one who commits themselves to academia also does not deserve to participate in our nation's political discourse. Anti-intellectualism will be the end of us.

She's not an atheist, she's a liar. The only reason she says she's an atheist is to establish some thin layer of unbiased credibility, and it's obvious when you listen to the things she's defending that she's christian.
drpeppa2357 11 months ago 2
@drpeppa2357 I agree. Its almost as if its a conspiracy concocted by FNC, the Discovery Institute, and the Tea Party (hyperbole, btw). One day she'll accept Jesus in her life. She'll be a recovering atheist. When one determines that he/she is a nonbeliever, it is quite a liberating experience. The entire concept of faith and dogma then seems silly & childish. Forget about voting for an atheist president, a true atheist awaits the day when faith isn't even an issue in a presidential race.

Part of the confusion is that the % of people that are atheists and non-religion are very different. The % of people that are atheists is always globally under 5% but non religious is often 15% or higher. She is using the conservative estimates on Atheism as 'non-religious'- But she is referring to her own kind of non-religion, ie. atheism.
