hey kennedy 13: it's funny, i wrote a poem for jim carroll shortly after he passed on based on his poem for kurt cobain. it is called "7 reflections for jim carroll." [poet billy lamont]
Yes, it does. And since I forgot to say it before, thank you so much for posting it Billy. A brilliant poet, a great writer. Gone too soon, like Bukowski and Hunter S before him. Breaks my heart....
frollun2: you seem unable to recognise genius when you hear it. Amazing that you managed to connect with Kurt at all, since Carroll was one of his biggest influences poetically and personally. Some people just never get it. I feel so sorry for you.....And yes, Jim was a bit of a skeleton - it was the years of heroin, street life and poverty. Life writes our stories upon our bodies. Wonder what yours tells us?
man i couldn't finish this.. but hey... kurt cobains had a skeleton write a poem about him... that has gotta be a first... somewhere in this weird universe (made a rhyme)
i actually feel kinda naughty for stating that but HEY... atleast its commercial free.
O God, Jim, I miss him, I mean even though I never technically "met him"...still, he was my everything...I, a once and former hippie child let loose at the age of 18 on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, I, so rooted in my belief that as a breech baby I had never wanted 2 be here, "Please God, don't send me out there again, there will be 2 much pain." But Jim carried me from the cradle of a scared, forced rhyme poet-child 2 one whom after reading "Just Visiting" came face-2-face w/ her visceral.
yeah he was best friends of kurt cobain. Geez how young he was only in early 90's and things change quick.. gues we all grow quick and old unfortunaly lol. But he does a great speach about kurt coabin,.
I never knew there was an unplugged for poets.

While I do love the poem, I don't agree at all that Kurt killed himself. Kurt was murdered.

Fuck rhymes...who needs them when you speak the truth laced with empathy? If you see this piece as a failed attempt, you are a moron.

just bought a book today that has this poem in it; it is called "The spoken word revolution redux" its a truly amazing read.
however, watching it, and hearing it, really gives more of a feel than the words on the printed paper.

there once was a grunger called kurt
who's feelings were irreversibly hurt
in lieu of disgrace
he shot himself in the face
and now he smells worse than a turd.
