Gordon had an issue playing defense. He'll give you a great game like this, and then score 17 points the next game while still giving up 30 ppg. He was just a step above Jamal Crawford who was another shotgun.
The Bulls should have offered Gordon a 1 year $15 million contract.
A core 8 or 9 of Rose, Gordon, Hinrich, Deng, Salmons, Gibson, Noah, & Miller wood have great! (If the Bulls had Deng they would have won this series because their bench would have been stabler.)
Then in 2010, make sure you have your core before signing free agents.

When you look at the signings of Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva, I have this theory that they are the next Rip Hamilton and Rasheed Wallace for Detroit when you compare the stats of each of the players. There's a reason why Detroit signed them.
Rip and Sheed can play some D, BG and CV cant play D to save their lives,and Detroit's culture is defense, to sign two guys who clearly cant play D for a defensive scheme makes no sense

The Gordon/Hamilton comparison, I can somewhat see. But, Villanueva and Sheed? The fact that they're both stretch fours is the only thing they have in common.
Villanueva will turn out to become a player like Rasheed Wallace. That's why Detroit signed him. He spreds the floor with his 3 point range. Instead of waiting for 2010, they decided to sign Villanueva and Gordon because they have similar skill sets of Hamilton and Sheed. And with the coaching staff and the players of the Pistons, it's only a matter of time that Gordon and Villanueva become decent defenders. It's all about heart and they both can learn that in Detroit.
Like I said, Gordon and Hamilton are similar. Sheed and Charlie, however, aside from the fact that both spread the floor, have virtually nothing in common.
Back in his hay day, Sheed was an ELITE post defender, and he was also outstanding in the post using that far-reaching fallaway jumper of his. Villanueva is a face-up slasher with an outside jumper who has yet to demonstrate that he has any decent defensive capabilities. They aren't very similar at all.
True but I think Detroit expects or wants to change Villanueva into the player Sheed was/is. He has the makings to be as as good as Sheed was and Gordon is already the player Hamilton is/was. He's probably even better.
The thing that separates Gordon from Hamilton is that Gordon is a straight shooter, with a few tear drops here and there. Although Rip's an excellent mid-range shooter, he's a dangerous player because he can drive and post up smaller guards.
I'm a Magic fan, and I still have nightmares of rip posting up our guys. We've never run across that problem with Ben, though.

The pistons will be ok, but they will be one of the worst defensive squads in the league. They have no true big man either. However as the lineup stands there is no better 3 point shooting team out there.

im not a bulls fan but seriously gordon was sooo clutch in that game it was freakin unbelievable. he had like 10 points in the last min. he kept coming back every single posession. amazing.

as much as i valued gordon's scoring ability, this video also demonstrates gordon's non-team play style. i saw at least four plays where there was an easier basket with a wide open player.

When you look at the signings of Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva, I have this theory that they are the next Rip Hamilton and Rasheed Wallace for Detroit when you compare the stats of each of the players. There's a reason why Detroit signed them.

CV averages 0.6 blocks a game for his career
Rip and Sheed can play some D, BG and CV cant play D to save their lives,and Detroit's culture is defense, to sign two guys who clearly cant play D for a defensive scheme makes no sense

You don't get it. They'll potentially become the next Rip and Rasheed of the Pistons. They'll be taught to play good d with guys like Rip and Tayshaun. Just believe be when I say that they're gonna potentially be Rip and Sheed. They have similar stats that's why Detroit signed the both.

Rip and Sheed also had Larry Brown a HOF coach Flip was good but he was more offensive and that didn't work.When Scott Skiles coach the bulls at a time they were one of the best defensive teams in the NBA but BG still couldn't play defense,Ben is a good 6th man but hes not a great starter if he couldn't play D for 5 years now he cant play D now. CV has potential,but Sheed plays way better D than him and Rip is taller and can use his body,They can't play lockdown D overnight.

The Gordon/Hamilton comparison, I can somewhat see. But, Villanueva and Sheed? The fact that they're both stretch fours is the only thing they have in common.

Villanueva will turn out to become a player like Rasheed Wallace. That's why Detroit signed him. He spreds the floor with his 3 point range. Instead of waiting for 2010, they decided to sign Villanueva and Gordon because they have similar skill sets of Hamilton and Sheed. And with the coaching staff and the players of the Pistons, it's only a matter of time that Gordon and Villanueva become decent defenders. It's all about heart and they both can learn that in Detroit.

Like I said, Gordon and Hamilton are similar. Sheed and Charlie, however, aside from the fact that both spread the floor, have virtually nothing in common.
Back in his hay day, Sheed was an ELITE post defender, and he was also outstanding in the post using that far-reaching fallaway jumper of his. Villanueva is a face-up slasher with an outside jumper who has yet to demonstrate that he has any decent defensive capabilities. They aren't very similar at all.

True but I think Detroit expects or wants to change Villanueva into the player Sheed was/is. He has the makings to be as as good as Sheed was and Gordon is already the player Hamilton is/was. He's probably even better.

The thing that separates Gordon from Hamilton is that Gordon is a straight shooter, with a few tear drops here and there. Although Rip's an excellent mid-range shooter, he's a dangerous player because he can drive and post up smaller guards.
I'm a Magic fan, and I still have nightmares of rip posting up our guys. We've never run across that problem with Ben, though.

lol kapono and morrow. lets see how well they shoot when they're constantly left to create their own shot with an entire defense gunning for you. BG doesn't just spot shoot, he can create and hit 3 pointers off the dribble at percentages that most players struggle to hit in the midrange.

The pistons will be ok, but they will be one of the worst defensive squads in the league. They have no true big man either. However as the lineup stands there is no better 3 point shooting team out there.
