I've only been living in Brighton for a couple years, so I wasn't very familiar with Mr. Butch, but I certainly remember seeing him. I mean, how could you miss him? He was a pretty noticible figure--he kinda stood out. I dunno, he was just tall and had a presence. Loved this film! I really think it captured his essence, and was a very deep, thoughtful and introspective piece.
Thankx! It's so cool that due to technology now over 1000 people have seen the film! In the past 10 years it was probably seen by 100 or so people... Glad folks appreciate it!
Excellent. Love the raw melt-down allston kenmore jump blur Mr. Butch playing double pipes and making the lady's dream smile texture of this film. Was this shot in 1998? Any outake clips lost on the cutting room floor? THANX for posting. Just linked it from: MrButchShow sites.
Awesome! yeah this was my first film, for my Film 1 class at Emerson College, I was living right above Pizzeria Uno at the time... there was more footage, the audio was recorded onto a cassette tape, had about 45 minutes, some good stuff! Would have to dig for it though...
Oh, the jump blur stuff was initially an accident, the gate on the Bolex didn't work properly, and I had to reshppt, but in the end, I decided to incorporate the footage into the film.
This is so much better than most Mr. B videos on the net where you've got a bunch of giggling college pricks who've lived in Boston for three month making a sideshow attraction out of the poor guy. Nice.
Quick Mr. B anecdote: He applied at the takeout place I used to work at, and for the availability section under Friday and Saturday, he wrote "FUCK YOU".
