I wish John was still alive to see the magnificent job you did on his creation Tom. A nicer, more humbler man i never met than Johnny Najjar, and his wife Ginny. I will always cherish my visit with them at their home in Sarasota. Now that the XM and the Italien are gone Tom, what are your newest ventures?? Someone needs to find Iacocca's 62 Thunderbird Roadster with the 406 4 spd and the in dash tach.... Or how about the fabled 54 mark II Retractable?? That one is a local Detroit legend!
I imagine that they just wanted to show that it all would work as a production car. It came very close. Anyway, you have to let the air out of the spare to get it in or out of the trunk so the plan needed some fine tuning. It was a fun car to restore.
You should enter this car into the Pebble Beach Concours De Elegance. It would really be a head turner!! And I live 40 min from there, it would be great to meet you and see your beautiful Merc on display! :)
Is the car street legal? It would be nice to be able to drive a car like this on the open road. I know it's not practical because of the rarity of it, but it would still be fun.
Another amazing Tom Maruska restoration that is both well documented and educational at every step of the way. Congratulations for your work in excellence, and your desire to share information with others.
This is incredible! Thanks for posting it, and most of all ... THANKS for restoring it!! My son and I saw the car last weekend at the Concours at Meadowbrook ... AWESOME!!!
amazing work, i don't know how you did it, but it looks better than new, and i will share this with all my friends i am sure they will find this very interesting, overall great video and great work, you did a amazing job, just like all the other cars you have done, also i imagine this car is fairly light? i mean compared to a steel car, also could it be road legal? and you need to snap some pictures of this, i would love to have some pictures of it, and keep up the great work! :)
That car is wicked cool & interesting! Finally i see another car with a big round clock on the Passenger side dash and with a Sweeping second hand. -BOGAR!

very cool - i just saw another group do a recreation of a 1956 pontiac club de Mer that's being auctioned in palm beach this weekend.
There's tons of cool retro-future designs of cars that would make killer custom rides today - easier to accomplish with today's tec too.

@followyourbliss101
A friend of mine built the Club de Mer clone and sold it at Barrett-Jackson in Jan '09.
What auction is it at this weekend and do you have a link to it?
Thanks
