I would get this if I still played on PC, it won't be a hit on Xbox though, and because of this, this game is the only game in the XBLA House Party that I don't want, will wait and see how they all are rated and may get this as the 'free' game any way.
You do know this game was based entirely off of an FTP game made for PC right? In fact it was of the same name and we Nexicans have been playing it for years XD
@qwertypower9 Well done for stating the obvious, original is a play for free game, Quake was well worth paying for compared to this at the time though. I'm also on about the re-release of the game, about buying this version saying that it's not worth it for console but would if I had it on PC. Try reading first, troll.
wow... you all fail if you think this was a unreal tournament knock off..... Nexuiz was a freeware pc and mac game that made fps way different... i know for a fact is wayy different from the unreal franchise nor the halo franchise..... its more fast paced, side scrolling and i would suggest this to more of an experienced fps person than someone who is a noob to fps's i.e when someone shoots you with a rocket... you blow up instantly
Wow, even the story line ripped off of Unreal Tournament. Look at the logo 2. Looks like the unreal tournament logo made in japanese and upside down. I just hope it will be good, Cuz unreal tournament 3 kind of blew compared to the old ones.
If they are not careful with what code they use for this game it could be one of the worse GPL violations I have seen in in some time. Not a game I would buy after what they did to the old Nexuiz game and its developers.
Christ there are a lot of people hating on this. So let me get this stright, a new IP can't give us a new fast paced quake/ut type experience (keeping in mind the last one was released in 2007). However it's perfectly fine for BF/COD to recycle the same boring slow repetitive bullshit every year or so?
I'd take a fresh "Unreal Tournament knock-off" over proning on the floor, crawling to objectives, camping (that's your bf3) and being killed by lame ass killstreak-weapons (that's your cod).
@AzureScorch The first Nexuiz was released in 2005. It doesn't hurt to move off the beaten path and find games other than those advertised and distributed by big publishing companies.
Well It's kind of ignorant to make a decision about something before you know anything about it, but I kind of have to agree with everybody else here. From this trailer the game just looks like a cheap Unreal Tournament knock-off. I would very much like to see a video with some full-length game play.
for the CryEngine 3 the graphics really didn't look that great, but since that isn't a release trailer I'm hoping it will look better and not as cheesy as a unreal tournament knock off
i wonder how many people realize this game has been available for free for a while, and now with THQ they will re-create it with CryEngine 3 and be able to distribute it on consoles
@DyzfunktionD Hopefully the gaming industry will be coming out of a slump again in the next few years. I've seen more promising titles in the works recently than I have in forever. Nexuiz wasn't one of my favorite games, but it was enjoyable old school fun. If you're gonna run with an old idea, at least run with a good one. There's been too much carbon copying of mediocrity in recent years.
@DyzfunktionD and what were you referring to? I don't know the exact context but judging from a more global consumer prospective, because you played something 12 years ago, it's no longer worth anything. People listen to music created years, decades or centuries ago. Movies are given the same replay value. Why are games exempt?
@zenvidar I would argue that video games are different than music in this regard. Video games are interactive experiences, and if you have played a game very similar to one that is soon to come out, you dont become excited. I didn't say it was a bad game. I said I would pass on it because it looks TIRED AND OLD to me. Its like when Monopoly is rehashed into 50 different variations ... its still fuckin Monopoly. I am not interested in Nexuiz because I have played that same tired type of game b4!
@DyzfunktionD Just because a game might not be successful does not mean it isn't a good game. This is a reboot of a 2005 game also called Nexuiz. There are tons of awful games that are picked up by big publishers and even manage to make great money or get a lot of players. I'm not saying this will be good, but not much is good anymore to begin with. Money to be made, quality to be disregarded.
This lost my interest as soon as the project went commercial. No money from me, I'd still play rocket-minsta CTF on UFB

Although this was created by ripping off and betraying the original (open source) Nexuiz, it does look pretty good otherwise.

@getout2012 It would have to be a modern shooter for it to be generic.

@zenvidar I'm aware the first Nexuiz came out some years ago. ;) And some of my favourite game are indie.
I'm just not understanding why people apparently dislike this game whilst so many people praise mediocre AAA shooters.
