great video.. spence field is beautiful, but has a sad past. In 1969, a 6 year old boy name Dennis Martin vanished and never was found.. not even a trace of him.. thounsands of people looked for him for several months.. Some people think he was stolen, some think it was a bear, others think he perished in the mountains...

this is a bear haven--you almost always see a bear in the field--so many people leave food scraps--last time i was there--found 2 sardine cans

@iceaxe56 It's a shame that people will put bears at risk like that. Great way to have an innocent bear put down because they attacked a human or came in to ttown looking for more food. Idiot humans!

When I was 18 yrs. old in 1960, I made my first backpacking trip ever to Spence Field. There was a lot more of the grassy bald area then. Since then, there has been a lot of growth of shrubbery type plants. Maybe I will go back there someday - last time I was there was over 20 years ago at least.
