Can I please ask where the best places are to purchase this product? It seems this might be a good idea to back up my photos, videos and music from my laptop onto. What drives are compatible with the unit do you have a list of certain drives on must install?
Does it allow the drives to spin down, if not in use?
IF you want to use it in big mode (2drives as 1) can you start with one drive (full of work docs) and then add a second drive, and NOT lose the contents on the first drive?
The DAS200 doesn't have a "spin down" feature. If you choose to use either combine or striping you need to start off with two drives as the "RAID" can not be migrated or expanded. You could however set the unit up in standard mode (meaning each drive is accessed separately) then when the first drive is getting full you can add another drive and it will not affect the data on the first disk.
