man i do have to say, it's a lot different looking at the makeup of our basketball teams than it is for our soccer... in soccer our hopes are with bench warmers in 2nd tier leagues in second tier soccer countries. With basketball we can choose from the best of the best, and if we lose a player or two, there are 5-10 more who can come in and replace him with missing a beat

Defense won't be that big of an issue under Nate McMillan's (USA's Defensive Coordinator) leadership. Team USA has very few weaknesses and a 2 guard that's a bit undersized won't be that big of an issue in international ball where players do not play as rough on the inside as they do in the NBA. D-Rose can work as a 2-guard.

At the 1 we need a distributor and someone who can shoot to stretch the D, that's the only reason I don't like Rondo. @KiDvAs7 That team Curry played on was our FIBA team. They qualified us for the 2012 Olympics. The only reason there was no Lebron, Kobe, CP3, Dwill, etc on that team was because their teams in the NBA were worried about injuries during the 2010-11 season and some players wanted to win the NBA championship more than the FIBA championship. I don't think rookies/soph. belong on team USA unless they earn their spot. Team USA's Main obj. is to get gold, not develop up-and-comers.

That is true, but I was referring to rookies like Blake Griffin he's a 6'11 forward with a good post up game and he's strong on the rebound and HE CAN DUNK :D (and if he worked, he could play a center too)

But yeah, I knew why they didn't play. And yes, I know it was our FIBA team. But yeah, I have nothing else to say. I just think that even with one or two rookies on the team, they could probably still win. They just won't get much court time.

These guys have been key pieces to a team or played a significant role in one way or another.  Whether on their respective international teams or in the NBA. You don't have to be a star to be good. *Side note: I think Marc Gasol is a better big man than Pau Gasol (more so defensively and rebounding than offensively but Marc's offense is good too.)

He normally played about 30+ minutes and gave good effort. His main weaknesses was fatigue and mobility. Yao could've been even better, had he not sustained numerous injuries over his career which ultimately forced him into early retirement. Happens to even the best players.
