I only watched a couple episodes On the Lot, but I took personal offence to Spielberg for finishing Zack as fifth. His Danger Zone is something that HE would have problem producing.
And the funniest is that, Zack got judged by people who are less of directors than him. They were presumed bigger because, lo and behold: America has no taste, but judges by the money.
So dumb ass who gets 10 million from his uncle and makes 5 million profit on it, is a "geat director". Pathetic.
For the record, the winner was Will Bigham. He's working on a project with the working title 'Semi-Retired' (IMDb won't tell you any more than that without a paid IMDb Pro membership), and he has written, edited and acted in a few films/shorts, but no major directing credits yet, according to IMDb. The general opinion among IMDb board posters seems to be that, because 'On The Lot' was a reality show, DreamWorks was under no obligation to produce anything he came up with.
Also, according to Wikipedia, DreamWorks has not really been able to strike out on its own without deals and/or financing from other companies, including Disney and Paramount, so if Will has had any ideas for DreamWorks, it's possible that they may be on the back-burner for financial reasons.
I sometimes wonder how much more DreamWorks could have done by now with Zach working for them... : )
Great stuff Zach. Die Hardly Working was amazing. I loved the concept, the camera work, the editing, it was all great. Your film style really reminds me of a young Sam Raimi. Very cartoon-like and playful. Maybe not in concept, but in camera motion and cinematography. I see EVIL DEAD 2 in everyshot. Camera work shows unbelievable potential. I would love to get some tips from you. I've taken on filmmaking over the last year. Plz take a look at my films and let me know what you think
Hello ZACH (if this really is you)!! I loved your work, I wish you won! What was the song you used in the short film danger zone, I looked for it everywhere!
I was overly surprised when I found out you weren't up to become at least one of the final two but no matter, we all know you deserve the win. You've got fans all over the globe to back you up!
zach u should have won the lot ur bonus feature filmswere awesome the first 1 surprised so much it lterally sucked me in! u just rule! i love ur hobby of visual effects and u never should have left it stunk when u left [no i'm not a fan girl nor a girl i'm just complimenting u] get a fimlm in movie theaters as quick as u can!
As far as I was concerned you were the clear winner - the others were talented, but you outshone them all. Do you think the fact that you were a Canadian had any affect on the US voting public that resulted in your leaving?
We will be looking for & following your work thru all the years to come - you are blessed with an amazing set of gifts. Thanks for sharing with us!
Zach! I can't believe that you were sent home! I thought that from the begining of "On the Lot" that you were going to win! Anyway, I hope that we get to see more of you in the not-to-distant future!
Zach! I watched every episode and even tho I started rooting for Marty, (I'm from Washington) I always called in to vote for you too. You already are a director and I know you will go far in the business. I was shocked when you left OTL. I'm still shocked!
Zach, you are AMAZING!! I was extremely shocked that you had to leave, and I almost cried...haha I wish you the best. I'm sure you will go far =] My boyfriend and I are waiting for a movie from you to watch together. Best wishes!
Everyone was absolutely astonished that you left. In fact, I have a friend that worked as an associate producer's assistant and she told me that when you left their ratings dropped significantly. I, for one, was only watching for you, and maybe Will, but mostly you. But the show got canceled and you'll be huge, so stay on it.
Zach you should of won the whole thing. But when you left on the lot i cried and i was shocked. But even you still left you didn't give up on special effects and/or your dream.
Great show, should of been Zach's for the taking.
