at 2:29, it's not a G5. you have G as the root, B as the major 3rd, and G again an octave higher. It's just a little G major with no 5th. Cool lesson nevertheless, and thanks for sharing.

Anyone that knows music knows exactly what this gentleman is talking about. The Paramore song is very good and uses a lot of Rush references. The end chord of this song is very similar to the first chords of Sub Divisions. Check it out.

I love how full of it people are. Saying that one type of music 'can't touch' another only leads to elitism, an utterly useless trait in music.

If we refuse to accept the validity of modern talent, we'll just end up in an unoriginal mire of music that has been played before. If you don't like Paramore, that's fair enough, taste is unexplainable; however, to place Rush on a pedestal like that is just stupid. All who put their full effort into their music should be respected equally.

can anyone help with the picking pattern on this? on Gmaj7 you pick the 6th string, 5th, 4th, then back up, right? when you move to the Gmaj6 you play the same pattern but pick the 4th string again? he explains it in 3:05 but i can't get the pattern right

i've watched several of these"rockon" instr vids. Seems to me they use a muted sort of compressed tone so that listeners can more easily tell the differentiation in the notes played. They're not trying to put on a performance here.
