The GTR is an amazing Technical Achievement and track weapon. Its seriously amazing but not emotional or beautiful. If I had to use it as a race car Id take it any day but as a fun road car id rather have a 911 or zr1.

If they had shitty technologies, they would not be in GT-R.
But just to make you laugh a little, today's news says Mercedes SLS AMG was actually supposed to be the next gen Dodge Viper. But that did not happen all because of Daimler's stupid management of Chrysler. In the end, Chrysler is now shutting down Viper, but the next gen Viper technology is now all in the Mercedes SLS AMG. Wipers not working properly in a damn cold temperature(I've seen a lot of people having troubles with this. The transmission of the GTR is very cleaver but compared with the one of the Ferrari California, Audi S4 oder Porsche 911 very heavy, very big and very very expensive! The last disadvantage becomes clear when you see the cause for this! It was developed for and only for the Nissan GTR!
But a semi-automatic has no double clutch! An BMW M5 has a semiautomatic! Even if it is possible to switch automatically for you in the 'Automatic' program. Double clutch transmissions are generally classified as a kind of automatic transmission! But no discussion about that because that's different from source to source! I know it from the transmission industry that it's classified as an automatic transmission!
Actually the traditional term used to describe that gearbox is Semi-Automatic (that's what it's called in Formula 1 cars, which works similarly - controlled by paddle shifters, and no clutch pedal).
And the Borg Warner Aichi DCT (that's what the transmission of the GTR is called) is not the only transaxle DCT, because there is also one from Getrag for the Ferrari California called 7DCL750 with 7gears, not 6 like the Borg Warner thing! And Porsche has a ZF DCT called PDK, with has 7 gears too and is much better than the borg warner aichi DCT!
In the US, many GTR were called to the nissan workshops because of transmission failures!
It is automatic but not an automatic! As said an automatic transmission has an torque converter! A Dual or Double Clutch Transmission is based on an manual transmission but automatized and fitted with two clutches!
It was invented by Porsche in the 80's for a race car! The 962! And then the gave Audi the technology for the Audi S1 Pikes Peak and then VW was the first, who put it into production for mass market in 2005 for the Golf V GTI!

Mr. Mizuno, the one responsible for the development of GT-R had many troubles building this car. In fact, GT-R could be built because of his philosophy, not because of Lotus and Cosworth. If they had shitty technologies, they would not be in GT-R.

But just to make you laugh a little, today's news says Mercedes SLS AMG was actually supposed to be the next gen Dodge Viper. But that did not happen all because of Daimler's stupid management of Chrysler. In the end, Chrysler is now shutting down Viper, but the next gen Viper technology is now all in the Mercedes SLS AMG. SLS engineering is all done by the Dodge team, Merc guys just wrapped it around with their typical cheap leather interior. Europe = Shit. :)

Wipers not working properly in a damn cold temperature(I've seen a lot of people having troubles with this. Seems like German cars are plagued with this kinda problem) so I replaced with the Made in Germany wipers......and the problem got even WORSE, A/C not working properly, car stalling, etc. Do you call this quality? No. It's called Made in China.
I love Nissan because of their seriousness when it comes to competition against Porsche. And? Their cars are very reliable.

Only if it was just "shit happens", then I would not worry about it. But let's see, in 2006, on Consumer Reports, Mercedes-Benz was the MOST UNRELIABLE BRAND in the entire U.S. market. Even more unreliable than Land Rover.
When I saw it, I could tell it was time for me to just leave the Germans. Too unreliable, and I can just see the German cars are only for the rich who can swap their cars like once in a month. I will just stick with the Japanese.

The first video I showed you, it's about the Australian owners of BMW 7 series, and they've spent over 100,000 dollars for just "repair" over the years. Some guy owned 3 of them but all 3 had too many problems to list. I know an American guy who also spent so much for just repair with his 7 series.
And the other guy's video, he shows BMW 3 series' build quality. If you see, you can tell materials are very cheap.
Germans need to learn one or two from Toyota, seriously.

Hear me out, I want a car that can last, not just breaking down. I can not afford that kind of trouble. And obviously I can not afford like 100,000 dollar repair cost in 2 or 3 years. I can not imagine myself taking care of that, because I can only have just one car.
If the German cars were built to last, and very solid, then I would not even be hating the German cars by now. No, not just German cars, but all European cars. Too expensive, too much repair cost. Not for me.

@tallicaguitar88 owning? that's an overstatement from a guy i would describe as a playstation racer. GTRs are known to be fierce rivals of the 911s and to judge which is better straight out of the factory would only give you inconclusive results. neither one is better on the highway stock; similar 0-60, similar top speed, similar displacement. videos from japan shows GTR is better, videos from EU shows the 911 is faster. but instead of taking their word for it, why dont you try it first hand?

I never said the old skylines had no heritage, i know the r32 won lots of races, but the only reason it was so good and the reason it was banned is because it was the only car with 4wd. Back then most cars didnt even have turbos, let alone 4wd. A bit like the new evo x, an evo 6 is a world rally championship winner, but an evo x is just a piece of shit made so thick shits like you will buy it for the badge

Yes therefore the Nissan GTR has no launch control anymore, because launch control can't used too oft (6 times one after another for example at the Ferrari F599 GTB)!
The transmission of the GTR is very cleaver but compared with the one of the Ferrari California, Audi S4 oder Porsche 911 very heavy, very big and very very expensive! The last disadvantage becomes clear when you see the cause for this! It was developed for and only for the Nissan GTR!

But a semi-automatic has no double clutch! An BMW M5 has a semiautomatic! Even if it is possible to switch automatically for you in the 'Automatic' program. Double clutch transmissions are generally classified as a kind of automatic transmission! But no discussion about that because that's different from source to source! I know it from the transmission industry that it's classified as an automatic transmission!

Actually the traditional term used to describe that gearbox is Semi-Automatic (that's what it's called in Formula 1 cars, which works similarly - controlled by paddle shifters, and no clutch pedal).

And the Borg Warner Aichi DCT (that's what the transmission of the GTR is called) is not the only transaxle DCT, because there is also one from Getrag for the Ferrari California called 7DCL750 with 7gears, not 6 like the Borg Warner thing! And Porsche has a ZF DCT called PDK, with has 7 gears too and is much better than the borg warner aichi DCT!
In the US, many GTR were called to the nissan workshops because of transmission failures!

It is automatic but not an automatic! As said an automatic transmission has an torque converter! A Dual or Double Clutch Transmission is based on an manual transmission but automatized and fitted with two clutches!
It was invented by Porsche in the 80's for a race car! The 962! And then the gave Audi the technology for the Audi S1 Pikes Peak and then VW was the first, who put it into production for mass market in 2005 for the Golf V GTI!
