I am American and yes, I do believe that the Haitian revolt did contribute to the Louisiana Purchase which gave my country the state that my parents were born in.
I think that it is more likely that the Haitians suffered after that revolt due to racism than anything else.

Pact with the devil? I doubt that. If there is anything resembling truth to what Robertson said it is perhaps the people prayed to an African god.

The Louisiana Purchase encompassed all or part of 14 current U.S. states and two Canadian provinces. The land purchased contained all of present-day Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, parts of Minnesota that were west of the Mississippi River, most of North Dakota, nearly all of South Dakota, northeastern New Mexico, the portions of Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado east of the Continental Divide, and Louisiana west of the Mississippi River, including the city of New Orleans.

FYI -- the vast majority of Haitians are Roman Catholic. Last time I checked, that made them Christians.
Listen, just because Pat Robertson felt compelled to pull insultingly ignorant comments out of his ass doesn't mean you should emulate his idiocy. Besides, if God was in the habit of personally punishing all evil people, half the American banking industry would be roasting in hell even as we speak. So drop the "God is punishing them" crap.

Of course we know that Robertson's sole purpose in life is to squeeze as much money out of the old ladies living on social security to the point that they have to survive by eating canned dog food. Evoking Satan is a good tool for him to use towards that end.
