  • This lady has a very special talent and her music is very special, even to those of us who don't speak her language.

  • Oh this is just beautiful... very powerful.. and she has a beautiful voice... great upload...

  • thank you - love and respect

  • Who is that singing next to her? She sounds like a flute.

  • Her daughter inherited her mother's talent for singing. Their voices compliment each other so well. An awesome performance.

  • Can anyone help me with the phonetics? For example: -s it "ambeh majah dah" and so on...

  • Let's focus on how joanne spreads love and light with her heart and voice. We don't need any more separation between humans on this planet. Let's check the ego side and open up your heart to beauty instead of conditioned responses to a collective ego threat that is our titles that we hold (religions, tribe, whatever it may be)

  • i know this song myself, i grew up with the teachings in my lodge, and even i know better, this should not be posted on the internet because it is a very sacred song. you dont own this song and are disrespecting the people who do.

  • CAn anyone post the phonetics to the song so that someone who is not a native speaker can attempt to sing the words with authenticity? I adore this and would love to sing it to my friend who has CF and her name means MORNING LIGHT...

  • She's married to a half breed who has no love whatsoever for his true birth mother. That is the modern state of being for these scumbags!

  • ho miigwech

  • Gloriously Beautiful !!!! Well Done !!!! Peace Tisha :)

  • This is Joanne's daughter!? She's grown up to be so pretty! No wonder they have the same tone singing together.

  • these are REAL WOMEN so transcending

what if when when thought of women we had this image?

they redefine power and beauty with there voice/spirit alone!

  • this song i learned 25yrs ago

its a sacred song sung in the morning to greet the day

    sunrise ceremony

    good job

    beautiful song

please keep singing it this way

no white man instruments use the drum

    you're a beautiful singer

  • in my Ojibway culture the song sings about getting up early in the morning because we have a work to do. We have to do our work before the ends...we have to smoke our traditional pipes and ask for guidance...my wife and I also sing this song...just type in Harold Flett

  • @eagledancerflett Awesome

  • Can someone translate the lyrics into English or direct me to somewhere they are

    already translated?

  • Thank you for uploading this beautiful song. Their voices are perfectly harmonized from their hearts.

  • So so glad she explained It, it sounds amazing. I wish I could hear it live.

  • @Dealz1988 All of her stuff is wonderful. I've been very fortunate to meet her and her family. My favorite stuff by her is on Orenda.

  • Thanks so much for this song - love it and I love

    Joanne! Yakoke Thank you (choctaw)!

  • It's an ojibway song given to a man who was "an old man" when my kookum was young. He was from a community outside Sault St Marie. He said he'd dreamt of the song and was told to share it - so he did. I really enjoyed hearing her sing it and she explains the power of song so well in the interview afterwards .. thanks for posting!

  • Wonderful. Thank you so much.

  • This is a powerful song indeed. As Joann says it takes you to a spiritual place when sung. It was originally given to my friend Lawrence Laughing by an elder and he let Joann sing it and she and her daughter did an excellent Job. I love it.

  • JOanne Shendoah can lift you to another place with her vocals and songs. And you don't even have to know the language. That is powerful! She is one of my favorite singers and I have most of her recorded music! Awesome lady!

  • These words move me because they are Ojibway. I understand every word and it is so powerful to hear it in my own tongue. I'm so blessed today to hear this song.

  • @whiteturtlewoman So then would you be able to provide some translations?
