  • @haha7765 Yes. :)

  • @BlushingMonarch

ah, i've heard it and i don't know if is true or not =)

  • @haha7765 He's fathered both of her children, and they've been together for years, but they're not actually married.

  • But that, my dear children, is called CANNIBALISM, and it is in fact frowned upon in most societies.

  • @sweeneysgirl324 Haha, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

  • @sweeneysgirl324 I literally laughed out loud reading your comment! Wish I'd thought of it myself.

  • Helena is my real mother... <3

  • I'd tap that Lovett

  • @DJLubey Tyler Durden got to.

  • @sweeneyTgirl note ur username ;) hehehe

  • I dint know they could sing :P

  • This is my favorite song of the movie I realy love how sadistic those two are it's just brilliant. Though I do love Epiphany to

  • i love how this whole movie is pretty sick and twisted, but still like strangely amazing. love this song!

  • i love da both of them and their voices!!! espcially johhnny's!!!!!!!

  • I love when they say " PUT it on a bun. You never know when its going to run" It rocks

  • I love Johnny's voice here! He's great! Every song from this musical is awesome!:)

  • this is one of the greatest movie's, but is so twisted because it's all based off actions he would only perform if his wife was dead, and he is

    so amazing

  • awsome song

i love this movie great job tim burton:):)

  • I can understand that a lot of people don't get this..

    It's a special kind of fun ;)

but it's also creative, look at the lyrics if you wanne see what I mean..

  • best movie i could watch iit over and over again!!

  • "Seems a downright shame... seems an awful waste..."

I love the begining!! It almost makes me want to try cannibalism sometime. Almost. XD

  • :S gross mate

  • Very creepy, but I know what you mean!! XD Makes you wonder, though. All those people in Mrs. Lovett's shop seemed to love her pies. Maybe... XD

  • best song in the movie

  • I'm totally, completely in love with the notes/tone of voice Johnny uses when he sings "Is that squire on the fire?!?" I LOVE IT!!! Love the movie, all around too, but yeah... I'll quit freaking out now :-D

  • cause she lied to him and he killed his wife without knowing it 'cause she said his wife was dead. I still like Mrs. Lovett. Gr8 song

  • becuz she implied to him that his wife was dead even tho she was still alive

  • The lil boy Edward who killed JOhnny Depp at the end is a very good actor, but I love this song

  • my cousin was all like

"OMG i am gonna hunt that kid down".

    "He killed Johnny Depp".

    it was hilarous

  • wow shes a good singer. i like this song it's a little slow but its good. i love this movie its very bloody...

  • lil kid- toby- kills sweeney.

  • hmmm i bet Mrs. Lovett is a widow. why else would she be a Mrs.

  • She is. The character makes a reference to her husband who apparently died some time ago. She was talking to Toby about how much her 'poor, dear Albert' loved to eat.

  • This is the best movie i had ever seen.

    I loved the fake blood,

    it was so orange!

    And Toby is so cute.

I love it when Sweeney killed the judge. It was SO gorey!

  • I dont think anyone is innocent in this film really I think the character of Mrs Lovett is so desperate to be loved by Sweeney she'll do anything to win his affections, hence this song and this idea. I think she is a lonely woman who's having troubles with work and when the man she loved come back she sees it as a chance for him to love her at last

  • Burton has said that, in addition to just being an adaptation of an amazing musical, he sees this movie as a sort of tribute to the old schlock Hammer Horror movies. That would explain the over the top quality of the blood.

Regardless of the look of the blood, it's a movie about a vengeful lunatic killing anyone who gets close to him and then serving them in pies. So the R makes perfect sense.

  • I disagree with teatree. Tim Burton doesn't display anyone as innocent. The whole point of the movie/play is that one can't place their sympathies with anyone, becuase basically everyone except Joanna and the guy that likes her does something horrible. In this case, Mrs. Lovett lies to Barker, which pisses both him, and the audience, off. Then, as soon as we start feeling bad for him, he's pulls a meanie and kills her. So, Swenney's right; everyone sucks.

  • I love this movie xD

  • Helena plays against the Lansbury type because she is singing as an ingenue; this is more horrific in a gothic text for Burton because he sees her character as an innocent (see Edward Sc., Corpse Bride)

  • I think he would sound like Captain Jack Sparrow because he was the actor of that.. character.. Yah. XD Anyway, love the movie and it has great songs though I don't see why it's rated R. '~' PG16 maybe but.. R? Maybe I'm missing something. XD

  • all the blood in it and murdering made it rated R

  • yeah, but the blood looks like paint!

    I can't beleive it's rated R...

  • It is quite horrific, even though the blood looks like paint. Its blood-thirsty..thats probably why its rated R.

  • not to mention the, you know, cannibalism

  • R? R rated means what? I know M stands for Mature..

  • R is restricted, from what I remember.

  • Restricted.

  • is it just me or has anyone noticed that sometimes when jonny speaks/sings certain lines or words it sounds like captain jack sparrow??

  • thats just his voice

  • she does a wonderful job singing, and so does johnny who slowly move to be my top actor in america teehee

  • They make such a great duet! I seriously envy Helena for getting to play such a killer (pun not intended) role!

  • There's some Regina Spektor over her voice, and I like it.. ^_^

  • I LOVE JOHNNY DEPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham!

  • My favorite movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • they are both so talented! i love this song and love both the brodway and movie versoins!

  • she can to sing

  • just because she can't hold a long note doesn't mean she can't sing. It could just be because...you know...she smokes.

    Hmm. She can sing.

  • anyone else notice in the movie how johnny depp still has a little jack sparrow character in sweeney?

maybe it's just johnny, but the slight sway and the way he cocks his head a little before saying big lines... sometimes you can see it come through.

it's fun to see actors come up with a character so strong that it can be pointed out in their other characters.

    i love this movie. :]

  • ya i know i love it the way jack comes out!!!

  • i know

  • hahah! funny! I said the same thing!

  • love this song

  • This ong is so funny lmao when u think about wat they're singing about

'When u get it, do u get it...'

  • yeap =)

  • Woww

I love this song and I loved the movie

    It's amazing

and Johnny Depp is such a talented actor, he fits into every role the he ever plays perfectly :]

The lyrics of this song are awesome too....

Baking people into pies... what a concept :D

  • exactely :) ... you're absolutely right about Johnny.

I saw it yeasterday and I love the mix of ironism, cynism and comedy in this film! and fantastic music! :)

  • johnny really is a good singer :D

  • Mean context xD

  • Urgh.. I love this song, but I hate that they cut out so much of it! No locksmith, no timker, no tailor, etc...

  • Yeah, I looked up the lyrics online to see if I could finally grasp everything that they say, but then I noticed there were lyrics that I hadn't even heard in the movie. It would have been better with more flavors, I think.

  • I love this song. It's not my favorite, though because it's hard to pick from the so many great songs in the movie. I get the song quite well actually.

  • helena bonham carter <3

  • shepherd pie with actual shepherd on top. great.

  • i like the depressing version of sweeny todd. or ya'll know what i mean right? when he is not so happy and is killing. i haven't seen the new one olny the orignal by dad says i would'nt like it... JOHNNY IS IN IT HOW CAN I NOT LIKE IT?

  • you have 2 see it it is amazing beleive me, I told my mates ab oyut it and they did not wanna c it then they loved it belive u dont know until u try the songs are gr8 along with Jhonny's sexiness!!!

  • it's at 1:27 (:!

  • "these are desperate times mrs lovett, and desperate measures are called for" :D :D :D

  • I like it but I really miss the rime jokes that they make in the theatre

  • yes I noticed that he does use the same pose on the poster for Captain Jack Sparrow...but than again they're somewhat related if you think about it.

    ~Great vid btw~

  • everyone who has ever been Mrs Lovett and Mr Todd have their own singing ways and I think they are all good.

  • has any one else noticed the pose johnny has is the same one he used for one of his posters as jack sparrow.

where hes holding his gun up and he is looking to his left. there is the slight change of course. but still..

    :) mmm sexy pose

  • angela lansbury sings it better...

  • i agree angela lansbury was good but helena is great they both have there own singing styles and the stage play was great and the movie is just plane awsome

  • i find it so funny that the most cheerful song in the entire film is about killing people and making pies out of them!! film was AMAZING! very sad ending tho.

  • Acctually By the Sea was the most cheerful, xDDD

  • yeah that was a cheerful one too :)

  • *applause and standing ovation*

  • Actually, I take back the thing about the guy who wrote the story, because I've heard that either that happened, it was printed in a French paper, or both. It was supposedly a 'penny dreadful,' fictional British books that came at a penny a book

  • Well no one knows for sure whether it's true or not. Most suspect that it was based on a story written by an author from that time period with generally the same storyline, but the author wrote fictional horror stories. It's been said that he drew some information from news articles though and he lived in London, so there's always a chance :]

  • It sort of like Jack the Ripper. Only Jack didn't eat his victims. No one knows what happened same with Sweeney Todd. (I think)

  • Sweeney Todd was arrested quietly in his shop before anyone in the town, outside the law, found out exactly what was going on. Then the townspeople went crazy because hey found out what Margery Lovett was doing and they stormed her shop, they wanted to kill her but she was arrested first. Sweeney was hung but Margery Lovett poisoned herself in her cell before they could hang her. She had come in with the poison hidden in her clothes.

  • im ot sure what exactly you are refering too...

but im really hoping that it has nothing to do with what you think happens in the movie baceause if you've seen it then you would know that there is absolutely no way for either of them to get arrested...

but if i am completely off in understanding what you are talking about... then by all means carry on and dont mind me.

  • *for LauluJaaPystyyn*

  • Don't worry. That doesn't happen in the movie.

  • huh?

  • i went to see the movie saturday night w/ some friends.. his mom had to buy the tickets cause we're too young, but it was good.... i loved the movie....

  • KICK ASS MOVIE <333

  • I've walked past the pie shop and barbers...at night!!!Im to young to see the film but this song rocks though!

  • i Like this song for some reason i think its because im demented.

  • jaded perhaps, but I love it too.

  • Did anyone know that this is based on a true story?

  • It's not. It's actually based off of a French story in "Tell-Tale Magazine," called "A Terrible Story of the Rue de la Harpe." It was popularized in what was known as the penny dreadfuls newspapers, a weekly publications filled with horror stories (man, those Victorians were freaks!).

  • I agree! But my gran said someone DID bake people into pies in the 18-19th century.^_^

  • On wikipedia, it says that it got pretty popular and ended up as an urban myth.

  • In "crime library" it's a full article on Sweeney Todd's life. He was real :D

  • Sweeney Todd was FICTIONAL. The story itself can be dated back to the mid-1800's. There have been serial killers in the past, and there have also been some messed-up people who have killed people to cook them and feed them to other people. And there's even a good chance that one of these guys happened to be a barber, but that's only through sheer coincidence and not relative to the story of Sweeney Todd.

  • the story of specifically mr. sweeney todd was in fact fictional.

But it is very loosely based on real events.

  • The "Tale of Sweeney Todd" started as a penny dreadful. In those days he had no background, no motivation to kill. He was simply a monster to scare the readers. It was when it became a musical that he became a bit more human.

  • i'm willing to believe that.

i only know what my drama teacher told me last year.

    but that sounds quite plausible.

  • well at least someone belives me! LOL XD

  • =3 sweent tod is awsome i love the movie but i will never toucha meat pie again Xd

  • I wanna see Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder as Heathcliff and Catherine in the remake of Wuthering Heights That is going to be filmed.

  • its an 18 in britain!what am i gonna do 2 c the movie if im 15?!

  • The best thing to do is ask an adult about to go in to vouche for you the worst they'll do is say no, most adults are pretty down to earth. If your really desperate tell a 18-23 year old that you'll pay for their admitants. Best of luck

  • wear a big badge that says "18 today" and if they ask for idea pull out an 18th birthday card !

    Just kidding ...

seemed a good idea at the time :P .

  • Me and my sister just got tickets for another movie and snuck into Sweeney. It's very easy....But u probably all ready thought of doing that.

  • haah omg i did that too! But me and my friends are retarded and panicked cause we couldn't find the theatre.. like.. the staff knew what we were trying to do and moved the room lmaos

  • lol! I panicked too! My sister was like u r sooo stupid! And I was! The theatre was right around the corner! My sister was like "u all most pissed ur pants for nothing!"
