This is what country/pop should be today. There's a good story, the lyrics are quality, the harmonies are dead on (and not auto-tuned), and the music is actually listenable and memorable.

Country music today just has no thought put into it. These writers just hurry through a song with no message to make the listener think, nor feel anything. It's a wasted 3 minutes of nothing but to make a quick dollar on the radio. It's all about the money, and money and good music just don't go together.

Good song. Country is still my main genre, but I do agree that country was at it's peak in the 90's. I was 5 in 1990, but I wish I was older in the 90's so I could have had the chance to catch it all and be more a part of it: going to concerts, watching the videos for the first time as they aired (not here on YouTube), just the different atmosphere and bigger appreciation that I think country received in the 90's.
