You're severely overestimating domestic black market activity. Most gun crimes, contrary to what you may believe, are carried out with guns PURCHASED legally. They don't become illegal firearms until someone actually pulls the trigger or doesn't bother to re-up on his permit. Gun control won't cut into weapons most effective for home defense since no one is going to think to put a ban on high-impact pistols but rather ban low-cal rifles which aren't effective in closed quarters.

Where did you get your stats; they seem outrageous? As far as I can see, there is no significant change in Australia. Also, changes could be from other factors: economics ects. Furthermore 12mos is not long enough to get meaningful stats.
