I didn't realise that for Bermuda, defence and foreign affairs remain the responsibility of the United Kingdom, which also retains responsibility to ensure good government. It must approve any changes to the Constitution of Bermuda. It's not much but it's something :-)

I live in Newfoundland now, and thought about travelling to St. Pierre et Miquelon for a vacation in a year or two, and explore the true French culture in addition to French Canadian (Quebecois) culture I experienced in Montreal in 2006.
First priority is travelling to Labrador as its customary for a Newfoundlander, including those not Newfie born like myself, to visit Labrador at least once in their lifetime.
1) Yes we can go across the isthmus in winter in car
2) we call "bakeapples" des plate-bières. And we also make liqueurs or jam with them. Very delicious!
3) Those llamas stay in Miquelon, there isn't llamas in St-Pierre
4) St-Pierre is 6000 people and Miquelon only 600.
5) In winter, everyboy needs sunny and warmy holidays... if they had money, they leave! A lot of families used to leave each Easter holidays for instance.
6) Well... it's difficult to answer we don't know France except with TV news... and the news are always bad! So parents are a little bit stressed when their children have to go for studies (high school) but in our mind, i think children et teens join quebec's mind and adults join french'mind. Whatever it's hard to feel european when you're far from the continent!
7) Yes there are some remnants' Basque heritage like the "fronton" or "Basque's days" in summer with a big party last night, and our last name, houses' colours and their flag...

Why don't the islands just join Canada and be a province or a part of Quebec ... because realy 200 000 people in a two French islands in the middle of Canada ... it would be better for them I mean it's like Sweden having a small island of the coast of Brazil... 1) by plane from montreal (QC), halifax (NS), moncton (NB), sydney (NS) and st john's (NFL)
