I think the intro riff needs more heaviness, maybe you should play it with open hi-hat and with more cymbals on drums. Cool RS style break at 3:45 , it's progression and it's end too. Man, there is no need for second break at 6:57. It'd be better to use it for another song
@OdeToTheOcean Hey thanks for the input man. Yeah, drums are open ended, thats just what i came up with for them. Ill keep what you said about the intro in mind when we actually start playing with a drummer, ha. I agree the second break may not be needed, but i do like the ending, I have a hard time transitioning to that ending riff, so that 'break' is what happened. Ill definitely revist that. Anyway, thanks again for checking it out!
Sounds good man. Could use some mastering though. I can help :) Send me a message if you're interested. And since your videos help me out so much, Ill do it for free ;)
@TwentyThirdEye ahh definitely. I dont know if id have you just do it though... but some general tips would be greatly appreciated. About anything really, recording, mixing, or mastering. Im very new to it. Thanks!
@cliffMagriff Good man! I can definitely respect that. It's not hard to learn this stuff. I think one thing that will help you after hearing this is to learn about stereo imaging. (slight delays between the left and right channels to make recordings sound more natural) That's what made the difference for me when I started recording. Go find some free VST's (or torrent some good ones. I wont judge) and use the presets, see what they are doing, and slowly start learning. Good luck!
@cliffMagriff Another tip; take your time when mixing. It's not a race. And don't listen to your mix over and over again. Take frequent breaks and ALWAYS sleep on it before publishing a mix. You will tend to miss stuff when hearing your song over and over again. Always try to listen like a fan would.
@exhume19 that was a fast comment! ha, thanks. yeah, admittedly this one is a little too similiar at times to some of my obvious influences (russian circles, pelican). I hope its not too bad though. Anyway, this is an older one, theres a couple of newer ones that i think are fairly original. Dont get me wrong though, this song is solid as fuck in my opinion.

I can hear the post-rock influences very clearly. I like it!
