That money is money that has to support him, his family, and anything else that might happen to him for the rest of his life. Plus, if his basketball career is cut short, he doesn't get the rest of the money.

It was a wise and mature decision and Richard seems like a pretty decent young man. Why get married to someone if you do not get along with them and you break up with that person every other day? thats a recipe for disaster and divorce.
