honestly, this hit was nothing compared to many others.. i think its a little harsh to say it was the worst hit in history.. i know he didnt have the puck but if any of you ever played hockey, u would know that the game is fast and he might of thought that seabrook had the puck.. he was going in for a clean hit.. it was just unlucky that right at the end he caught him up high... if he didnt fall and get knocked out for a quick second.. it would of been a 2 minute penalty for interference.

btw, lets not forget ovechkin is a repeat offender too. he got 2 games earlier in the season. why didnt he get 8 games? oh thats right, hes not a duck. once we actually had a team strong enough to compete(06-07), the league startin throwin bs at us. well, it didnt stop us from winnin a cup than and it wont stop us from makin the playoffs this year. god forbid a team from california can play hockey.

@butterpants87 The difference between the Ovy 2 game and Wiz 8 game suspensions is that Wiz hit someone without tha puck. The league also called it a retaliatory hit. Neither of which were the case with Ovy's hit. It has noithing to do with the teams involved. It also didn't help Wiz's case that it happend at a time when the league office is actively looking into what to do about head shots. Gonchar and Cooke should have recieved similar suspensions this year.

@powerserge31 It was not a hit from behind. Perry was skating in that direction. Using your opinion one could skate up ice backwards with the puck and not be hit. Regardless it was shoulder on shoulder, not between the numbers on his back. Perry did touch the puck behind the net. The hit would be considered contiuation of the play.

It's a part of the game, the reason it is a part of the game because it adds an extra element of play, and if you were plugged in at all you would know that they were friends and he feels very bad about the hit, while i do agree that the NHL has been getting a bad rap lately it's just a part of the game

me neither. ended up bad but he had it coming and i like the fact that wisniewski was out to get him cuz it shows guys still wont get away with shit and need to stick up for what they do. i didnt watch the bruins pens game last night but after looking at PIMS on scorecard i can tell cooke had to stick up for himself. sometimes it ends up, sometimes its clean, but regardless youll have to stand up for what you do and thats a huge part of gritty hockey. that grit should never leave the pros.

honestly, this hit was nothing compared to many others.. i think its a little harsh to say it was the worst hit in history.. i know he didnt have the puck but if any of you ever played hockey, u would know that the game is fast and he might of thought that seabrook had the puck.. he was going in for a clean hit.. it was just unlucky that right at the end he caught him up high... if he didnt fall and get knocked out for a quick second.. it would of been a 2 minute penalty for interference.

The difference is Seabrook wasn't aiming at Perry's head, he was just trying to intercept him with a check and caught his head because Perry was faster.
Wisniewski may have said he didn't 'mean to hurt him' or whatever, but he had the guy clear in his sights and checked him high and in the face.

@Onesti If you have ever played hockey at a competitive level you would know that every hit you are intending to blow people up. put them out and have them looking over their shoulder. Check out Cory Sarichs collection of hits specially the one on patrick marleu he got a 2 min penalty for a hard hit . the outcome should not justify the suspension it should be the action and that wasnt really bad. Mike Babcock said it best on the ovi hit "it was a stronger guy hitting a weaker guy"

and btw, wheres the suspension to seabrook for the late hit to the back of perrys head? if seabrook hadnt taken that cheap shot, wiz wouldnt have run him over. also, i cant remember who got slapped with 2 minutes for charging at the end of the 1st for the hawks, but that was just as bad as wiz's hit. he came from the bench across the ice, jumps, leads with his elbows, and its 2 seconds after the horn! wheres the suspension there? just because he didnt land the hit doesnt mean he had less intent

Hard to believe 8 games was all Wisniewski got, then he sniffs like a little girl about being suspended. He even calls Seabrook his "friend"... Wow, some friend! O.O This isn't Wisniewski's first suspension for dirty hits, but I guess he needs to break a guy's neck and ruin his victim's life before he figures out how to throw a hit that isn't vicious and illegal? Hardly a "bs" suspension as one poster put it. The NHL needs to expand it's "Intent to Injure" rule to encompass players.

When is the NHL going to fix this? I mean most of the headlines coming out of the league are negative ones (Cookes hit, Ovies hit, Now this) I mean I study sports psychology and this is a major issue. Concussions aren't a normal injury, Its serious. Something needs to be done by Bettman and his group of people to get this fixed.
