He made loads of videos, so what is he on about? And he funds the dairy industry, hypocrite? < did i spell that right?.maybe? I loved morrissey for ages, 20 years or more ( i still do,as he was a stepping stone to sanity) but you realise once you let your mind see truth, that the dairy industry is as barbaric and murderous as the meat industry ...oh wait , they are the same industry.: / vegetarians = murder. .vegan on the other hand is far more tuned,
His personality and mannerisms are fascinating, and also quite amusing. He's much more sorted out now. I'm certain it would've been very difficult to have a relationship (any sort) with him back then. Probably less difficult now, but no more satisfying. Long Live Morrissey, the last great Enigma.
Why is that if someone says that Morrissey is arrogant (which he clearly is - I don't really know how he ISN'T) people get shitty with them. He IS arrogant though. Videos are not dangerous, they are art forms too; it just depends on if you want to be artistic on them. He says that music and videos should be 2 different things, yet pop music is used extensively in films - so is that wrong? Should we remove "What A Feeling" from Flashdance then, or "Take My Breath Away" from Top Gun?
Of course, yes Morrissey is arrogant and to say he isn`t is a lie and this is coming from a massive fan, i mean all this what he`s saying is absolute bollock`s, i mean he`s made load`s of music video`s since this so he`s talking shite
Paul Gambaccini has always been a bit awkward IMHO; you should have heard him commentating with Trevor Nelson over the Michael Jackson funeral ... embarrassing!
haha, I get strangely xenophobic when it comes to foreigners interacting with The Smiths.
For me their story will always be a most English of tales, how Johnny the young bright eyed optimistic guitarist unearthed our beloved poet from his bookwormed reclusion, to form one of the most influential bands to ever exist.
It's probably the most platonicaly romantic thing to ever happen in music, how they had to work together to escape their working class dole-ridden fate.
I'm a huge fan of The Smiths and Morrissey.... and the point he made about not making pop promo videos made perfect sense at the time... and even more now! But i ask this as a fan... why shortly after this was filmed did The Smiths go on to make several videos? I consider Morrissey to be very principled, i just wonder why he would have changed his mind about making pop vids when seemed so anti them at the time. Not like him to buckle from pressure from execs or the lure of big bucks? Puzzled!
Well, indeed, they made video's. Even This Charming Man already had a promo video. But for example the videos of TCM and The Boy With the Thorn In His Side are very down-to-earth, just showcasing the band (except for Girlfriend in a Coma, Stop Me and Ask).
morrissey is not as real as he claims, he is clearly a batty man and never admitted it

I love the Smiths but if I was a young man in the mid 80s - I would have considered Morrissey as a tosser. I have to be honest.
ESPECIALLY when you see these kinds of interviews from this era.

Dangerous? That's a bit much, isn't it? I mean, guns are dangerous. Pop videos?
BaubleRob 2 years ago
Well, music means the world to Morrissey. So anything that goes at cost (is that proper English?) of the music is, for him, dangerous.

Wonderful video, i haven't seen this. Could do without the yank though, Makes things a bit awkward and out of place. Morrissey is great as usual.

He has too much integrity to do videos, but he WILL appear on TV-AM with someone out of Play School. And the Ringo of Game For A Laugh.
