Trying to buy Wine at a self-checkout aisle at Walmart

NEVER use the self-checkout at Wal-mart. The Walmart corporate people will say things like "We want the busy hard-working American customer in and out as fast as possible" or "we are adding a state of the art checkout device to make our customers shopping experience more pleasurable". When in reality, the CEO wants to pocket that $20,000 a year he would have spent on an actual checkout worker....

Yeah keep on using those computer checkouts then wonder why there are no human cashiers in the near future but prices are the same or higher. Every lane replaced with a self checkout puts a human out of work and the more they are used the more they will convert and layoff humans. Some of you will laugh but the people at Walmart corporate didnt put these in for your convenience, they did it to make more money. First they kill the local business then they put internal workers out of a job.

Self-checkout is good because it increases efficiency. Just like the tractor did to farming. A few hundred years ago, 50% of the population worked on the farms, now less than 1% does, because it's all automated.

Soon, these 'dumb jobs' in the retail industry will be replaced by machines, freeing up humans to study, learn, and improve themselves, and have more leisure time. This is good. But it's bad for the people at the bottom (i.e. people not skilled enough read: stupid, to get a good job).

Hope you're never "too dumb to read, write or hold a job" and have to look for something to put food on the table and make the mortgage while you continue to think about efficiency (efficiency equates to your employer getting more out of you for the same or less money basically) and leisure time - you're going to have plenty of it while you look for "educated" level work.  You are not only putting "dumb job" employees out of work but increasing your taxes to pay for aid programs.

They use chinese workers and pay them next to nothing then bring that into small towns across America and destroy all family owned stores. It's a corperate takeover of our country. Our store got VERY lucky lol...I work at a Wal-Mart in Iowa whom had self checkouts at the old store but at the Supercenter we have NONE THANK GOD! I don't have to hear that "approval needed" phrase over and over again lol.

I think the self checkouts are the easiest job to do. yeah it gets annoying to overide, but you dont have to sack and just look at the camera, and screen. :)
