  • It's funny: A simple song to test one's vocal ability can be so catchy and so great :)

  • this was always one of my favorite scenes, because with all the medical advances in Star Trek sometimes the simplest thing like Music Therapy and even art therapy is often the best way to break through to someone. the comment about if I wanted to go to a concert to hear someone sing, was pretentious why even click on this video then?

  • Just the fuck because

  • They sing very well, but if I wanted to hear people singing, I'd go to a concert, church or chorus. These theatrical performances always strike me as some of the most pretentious moments on "Star Trek," which is odd, considering that the one thing these actors would be qualified to do is act. Probably none of them knows much about physics, astronomy or space travel in real life, but acting ought to be the one thing they know. Yet, it seems pretentious.

  • This is essentially music therapy and it resonated with me as my younger sister's eldest daughter has Downs, and in her early years I believe they did have a form of music therapy.

This is an excellent way of helping those with special needs as Sarina was portrayed as having, sadly in these times of public spending cuts, music therapy is one of the things that is first to be cut. Unless anyone knows differently.

  • Can't get the tune out of my head lol

  • It sounds best with the instruments in the background. <3

  • As a vocal student and instructor, this song is sublime. I love DS9, but this scene always blends the two worlds of music theory and sci-fi into one beautiful package. Bravo! :)

  • HEY THATS DIVATOX FROM POWER RANGERS TURBO!

  • @MrBabykedz1017 im sorry i did not notice that i dont watch stupid power rangers good too know :))))

  • Three Jem'Hadar warriors disliked this video ;)

  • Best ever :]

  • I would sell my vacuum-dessicated remains on the Ferengi Futures Exchange for the sheet music to this. lol.

  • @JayKayDanks I would love to oblige, but the brunette is singing notes that don't exist in the scale ("SLA?") and the fat guy gets drowned out near the end and you can't make out what he's singing because his lips don't match the song.

Sarina's easy, since they cranked her mic up higher than the others. The main guy is also easy, because he's really not doing much but providing the background. Can't get the other two. I got some of the fat guy's but the brunette is killing me.

  • @JayKayDanks lol, i know the music, its in the key of Bb, let me know if you are serious and ill fire it off to ya lol

  • @jointedlimb I'd love a copy of the sheet music if possible. :)

  • One of my Favourite Episodes, Did you know that Jack's singing in this is dubbed?

  • @R8116 Damn, why'd you have to say that. It's the flute business all over again lol.

  • This scene had me stroll around the house going "DO RE MI DO RE MI FA MI RE DO!!!!!!!!!! as loud as I could.

  • Wonderful scene.

  • when you reach this point in the show you see just how fantastic this moment is for Julian and how this moment right here is the fulfillment of his hopes and dreams as a doctor. It's what is his pride and joy.

  • I fell in love a little with Faith Salie watching this episode... her smile when Julian sees her emerge on the Promenade... then of course this scene.

Is too bad she hasn't done more acting... I think her talent's wasted as a gossip show host.

    Still, what am immortal scene.

  • Amazing singing!

  • I totally agree. It's just an excellent scene - My fav of the entire series.

  • the way julian looks at sarina brings tears to my eyes :')

  • My favourate tear jerker in star trek alongside jadzia's death - i miss the old dax!

  • It's simple and beautiful in it's own little way. One of my favourite moments...

  • A truly beautiful and brilliant moment in star trek. The first time I saw this I loved it and it wlways brings a tear to my eye.

  • Never watched this show, but I loved Hilary Shepard Turner on Power Rangers. She's lovely!

  • This scene is a showstopper. I love how Julian is just brimming with pride in them all. Maybe the best scene of Deep Space Nine.

  • Sabrina(Faith C. Salie) is just ADORABLE!

Did you know she had *No training* whatsoever before this? she discovered this talent during the filming of this episode, I would have never guessed. Her voice is like sweet honey to the ears.

It's no surprise that Julian is depicted as being smitten by Sabrina, she's portrayed as an divine vision of perfection, talented, beautiful and intelligent without being conceited at all.

Mmmm, as someone else said, she's truly the stuff dreams are made of.

  • I heard that too about her having no training and discovering her ability to sing in this episode but there is another video on youtube of her in something from the 80's and she's singing...So it leads me to believe she did know she could?

  • the scenes amazing and the girls bueatiful. but julian would fall in love with anything that had legs

  • This scene is easily in my top 10, maybe 20 of "scenes that jerk some tears out of me every time even though I've already seen it over a dozen times."

  • What a show stopping scene! Maybe one of my favroite scenes in the whole series.

  • I think bashirs got a boner

  • I second that! :D

  • Is it really part of the theme tune cos I cant quite make the connection. Whatever it is, its really nice and its a pity it doesn't last longer.

  • Thanks for that video, recently i saw all ds9 for first time, and this episode, really like me.

  • Great, memorable scene from a great episode. Thanks!

  • yes zig good Faith salie

  • yes bashir Chrysalis Molto Allegro Do-Re-Mi lalalal do-re-mi-fa-la-si-dooooooooo

  • I always loved the episodes with the Augments, and seriously, who hasn't known a Lauren, or a Jack ?

  • Some one earlier commented that they're :"just singing the scales", but if you listen to the whole scene from the beginning you'll notice they're actually singing the show's openning theme song: Lauren is singing counter-point, Sabrina is the main melody, and Patrick & Jack are providing the part played by the horns.

  • That's awesome! I didn't know that, thanks for pointing it out. :) I just love this scene, so beautiful. :)

  • Hey that's interesting but it doesnt really sound like the theme from ds9, am I just not hearing it properly or is it from another star trek series?

  • yeh thats ds9

  • @DCPowell68

wow ive watch this scene many times and never noticed that.

i guessed it was some classic melody its amazing how catchy and sublime it is yet i actualy had to hum it back to myself alongside the themesong before it became familiar

  • Hahahahahahaha

  • farty

  • i need a Mp3 of this it's so breathtaking!!

  • fwooor, my new favourite scene... she's breathtaking...

  • it's because of scenes like this that make star trek so enjoyable

  • I agree, its like the scene in Voyager with the doctor and 7of9, although a simple song it was beautifully sung I love it when the cast get involved in stuff like that.

  • can someone make a mp3 of this please?

  • Message me, i'll get you one done.

  • is this composed for the ds9 or...? :)

  • Not really. It's just singing the scales in different orders. Not really a song.

  • Beauty, brains, and an angelic voice. Sarina is a great character. Add political comedy, and you get Faith Salie. Otherwise known as my dream woman.

  • Outstanding Scene. Definitely one of the best Trek Scenes Ever

  • I second (or third, or fourth, or fifth) the motion. This scene is great.

  • thanks for uploading this. it is always wonderful seeing that other people share the same emotions

  • They have wonderful voices, and an exquisite sense of music. I LOVE STAR TREK

  • star trek and acapella (sp?). Who could ask for more?

  • exquisite

  • I wish I could sing like any of them...

  • This is one of my favorite moments in all of trek.
