dance drill teams are called military because their movements are meant to be very precise. Dance drill teams also are very disciplined. This type of team can be called: military dance, dance drill, drill, or just military if you are in the dance world then you would understand it just from that.

This is not real drill - this is dancing and gymnastics, Google Seattle drill team association - that is real military drill. This is a glorified dance team! They are very good, but military drill team, where are the drill sergeants on the floor judging them ??? Precisely my point!

Wow! When I was in HS ('95-'98), Hillcrest was the best. I'm happy to see they still are. Most awesome. This gave me the chills. Military dances are my favorite :)
Hillcrest is not paying off UHSAA.. You need to remember that they save their money for prop's... The category in which they've taken first.... every single year entered.

The UHSAA review determined Hillcrest did not break a rule. At least that is what I understand was the decision and is the reason Hillcrest is keeping its state title. So Bluelox, explain to me what "all in all" means when you say a rule was broken?
if hillcrest has any integrity they will march into bingham and give them the state trophy. everyone who watched knows they didnt deserve it this year. it should have gone bingham, brighton then hillcrest.

The reaction by the BHS teams and fans further demonstrated a lack of civility and sportsmanship by the BHS teams and fans. The review board reviewed tapes from region and state and determined Hillcrest did not cheat as you claim. I suggest you get your facts accurate. Hillcrest did not change 36 counts in their kickline. If you listen at the ending headstand part you can hear one girl counting 5, 6, 7, 8. :-) To everyone who doesn't believe in Hillcrest... You simply don't understand is all. Hillcrest Drill is infamous of over 20 years. (notice how everyone stops whenever they enter the floor) These girls work extremely hard and live up to a lot of pressure every single day. I'm not taking anything away from other teams (I enjoy others) but Hillcrest dancers represent a legacy that will NEVER be repeated!!!!!!!
there were a couple of teams last year who did use the strattle pop-up lift. Everyone did copy bountiful's power up (roll up through the middle splits with no hands) at davis though.
bingham sure is back. they totally swept the competition yesterday only getting third in lyrical I think, but they got first in dance, military and Kick. although they didn't get grand champion because they didn't have enough dances. but hillcrest was good
I would not call it a sweep. Hillcrest did not compete in kick. Hillcrest was overall chapion and auxillary champion. Binghm beat Hillcrest by .5 point in military. The score was a tie and they went to a tie breaker on military. Dance .. bingham beat hillcrest by 1 point. Since this was Hillcrest's first competition .. the next competitions will be interesting. I agree..Bingham was amazing. I love all of their dances. Kickline and dance costumes was super cool and sexy.
In my opion, Bingham did swept the Jordan Competition, if they compete in Hip-hop, officers they would be over champ. On the other hand, Hillcrest disappointed me this time. Their dance was great as last year, and military was kinda sloppy.
Two dances that blew me aways were Lonepeak's Military and Brighton's Kickline.
Bingham actually did very well on thier military routine. I was shocked when they announced Bingham 4th Place. To me 1st place would have go to Lone Peak, second is Bingham.

wow! haha its so true about hillcrest being legendary. when i told my violin teacher about the jordan beat classic comp, the first thing she asked was "how did hillcrest do?" then i was like "um... i think they took first in everything 5a..." then she was like "crap! they still rock!" haha! she was on brighton high's team and the only thing she remembers beating you in is novelty when she helped choriograph a sweet water novelty. haha! cant wait to see ya this year at the comps!
I will give them this.. I always look forward to them because Brighton is a huge novelty strength team where as Hillcrest is Prop, technique, and performance strength. Although HD pulled together a very great novelty this year "It's the hard knock life" it's sad that kick will be the alternate routine this year. . . i know for a fact that these next two years, hillcrest will be pulling out every great trick they have in the books for certain reasons. it will be intense for sure

Davis might in fact take state. They will need to beat Bingham again and then hope Hillcrest is not as good at they are looking already for the 2008-2009 season.
Whatever you can brag about how good hillcrest is when they bring something NEW to the table. There wasn't even one thing in that routine that made me think, "wow i bet those girls really had to work extra hard on that sequence or move or formation."

bingham sure is back. they totally swept the competition yesterday only getting third in lyrical I think, but they got first in dance, military and Kick. although they didn't get grand champion because they didn't have enough dances. but hillcrest was good

I would not call it a sweep. Hillcrest did not compete in kick. Hillcrest was overall chapion and auxillary champion. Binghm beat Hillcrest by .5 point in military. The score was a tie and they went to a tie breaker on military. Dance .. bingham beat hillcrest by 1 point. Since this was Hillcrest's first competition .. the next competitions will be interesting. I agree..Bingham was amazing. I love all of their dances. Kickline and dance costumes was super cool and sexy.
In my opion, Bingham did swept the Jordan Competition, if they compete in Hip-hop, officers they would be over champ. On the other hand, Hillcrest disappointed me this time. Their dance was great as last year, and military was kinda sloppy.
Two dances that blew me aways were Lonepeak's Military and Brighton's Kickline.

Bingham actually did very well on thier military routine. I was shocked when they announced Bingham 4th Place. To me 1st place would have go to Lone Peak, second is Bingham.

yeah and I'm so sick of every team using their kicks and falls.. hahah it's no ones choreography. honestly every team uses the same stuff in their routines..

yes alot of team using lifts this year. I went to the Jordan Classic competition yesterday, there were a lot of amazing dances. I cant name them all.

anyone that went to the davis competition are you not sooo sick of seeing every team use hillcrest's straddle pop-up lift at 2:29. i never want to see that move again lol get your own choreography!!

Hillcrest CAN do better. But it was very nice to see a new song, costume and a lot (not all) new choreography! Gotta guarantee the win :-)

I know that but still, Hillcrest didn't do anything that like really hard. Beside they're like robots. Overall safe routine..in my opinion.
Good Luck to Hillcrest, Bingham and Brighton at state and Region this year.

yes... i must agree with you that the 5-A teams definitely bring a lot more to the table.. at least compared to my schools drill team! and the sad thing is, next year w/ the re-alignment of the regions.. we are going from 4A to 5A thus competing vs teams like brighton hillcrest and bingham :(
anyways.. GREAT MILITARY ROUTINE! is their a drill coach for hillcrest w/ the last name of collins?

wow! haha its so true about hillcrest being legendary. when i told my violin teacher about the jordan beat classic comp, the first thing she asked was "how did hillcrest do?" then i was like "um... i think they took first in everything 5a..." then she was like "crap! they still rock!" haha! she was on brighton high's team and the only thing she remembers beating you in is novelty when she helped choriograph a sweet water novelty. haha! cant wait to see ya this year at the comps!

I will give them this.. I always look forward to them because Brighton is a huge novelty strength team where as Hillcrest is Prop, technique, and performance strength. Although HD pulled together a very great novelty this year "It's the hard knock life" it's sad that kick will be the alternate routine this year. . . i know for a fact that these next two years, hillcrest will be pulling out every great trick they have in the books for certain reasons. it will be intense for sure

Davis might in fact take state. They will need to beat Bingham again and then hope Hillcrest is not as good at they are looking already for the 2008-2009 season.

Whatever you can brag about how good hillcrest is when they bring something NEW to the table. There wasn't even one thing in that routine that made me think, "wow i bet those girls really had to work extra hard on that sequence or move or formation."
