Although this show was well received it ran for only one season because they went over budget for production which naturally upset the tight-spending network. Too bad, as in today's world it could have easily been picked up elsewhere, no so much in the 60s. Truly, what 12-year-old boy wouldn't love this adventuous show? Mummies, giant spiders, pteradactyls, giant lizards, cool jets to fly in, on and on it goes.
There is no episode for the scene with the African natives bearing down on the hover craft, that scene was actually part of the Jack Armstrong pilot, which was originally pitched to the network, but later morphed into Jonny Quest after snags with copyrights to the Jack Armstrong character. Look at the men in the hovercraft and you'll see both bear no resemblance to any Quest characters....actually a blessing though, as JQ turned out excellent
@RatBatSpiderCrab Well, that episode doesn't exist, the scene is only in the end credits. If Jonny Quest had another season, they might have had a story line.
Super-classic. Jonny Quest was the pioneer of true animated adventure cartoons that broke the Warner Brothers/Disney mold of fanciful American cartoons. I remember skeptical adults who later watched it like it was a live-action show on ABC. It encouraged networks to break out into more mature animation themes like Marvel comics had. The recent version is just a pale throwback shadow that can't recapture the original's magic of the times! I mean it was so advanced it still clicks today!
@jay55also Jonny Quest theme was one of his most vibrant ones he did for HB. And he really knew how to give the perfect flavor for this or that cartoon! Everyone who used to watch the Smurfs cartoons remember the la-la song he composed.
My favorite cartoon as a kid. Because it wasn't their time, it's impossible for my kids to understand pre-cable days, Saturday cartoons - on ALL THREE stations, and Sunday's Wild Kingdom followed by the weekly Disney movie with popcorn made in the old popper with butter melted ina pot on the stove (because microwaves weren't around yet).
@cajun812 those were good times! of course the best part was that all the kids stayed indoors until the last cartoon show ended at 12 then everyone is outside on their bicycles and 4 wheeled skates... good times indeed!
One dislike ... ZIIIIIINNNNN!!! *shakes fist*

Okay, this is the epitome of COOL!!
One day dictionaries will be written that will have the definition for "Cool" as "See Jonny Quest".

That would have been a bitch if Jonny and Haji caught Dr. Quest jerking off in that submersibal thing.
