As a Canadian, I'm prepared to say that if alive, James Naismith (Canadian and the inventor of basketball) would declare that this is the greatest team to have ever played in the game. It was a pure joy watching them play and to define them...they OWNED the competition. It was like they had them in the palm of their hands as they played!

I would pick Shaq instead of Christian Laettner as the token college player. The dream team was already missing a centre in Hakeem- and Shaq would have filled that void.

I said this on another video, but listening to Magic describe the qualities of every player on the squad is why if I were starting a team I would probably pick him first. He knew what you could do better than you knew what you could do, and then made you better at doing it (if that makes sense).

Simply the best team ever assembled. The perfect mix of players and personalities. Pure joy to watch then and now. Only Magic could be the spokesman for this group. Always unselfish and gracious, the epitome of sportsmanship. When I watch their highlight vidoes, I am sixteen again.

Why did christian laettner show up? He was only on the team because who he was coming out of college and the overwelming media hype. He went to ONE all star game in his ENTIRE career. The other lowest all star attendence out of the roster was 6 time all star Chris Mullin who just was elected to the HALL of FAME for his own amazing career. Christian laettner go home and stay home.
