Liddy made the fatal mistake. Why did he take a knife out and try to stab Dexter in the first place? What exactly was he trying to do here? In the same way he was trying to stab Dexter, Dexter took the knife around and stabbed him in the chest. He shouldn't have looked too surprised as that's what he was trying to do to Dexter himself.
This is one of those kills I didn't like....Liddy is a scumbag and I didn't like him but he's not a evil guy from everything we've seen. This is one of those moments where the audience dismisses morality in favor of the Protagonist I suppose.
@DrakeBrunette I agree. I feel like Dexter's moral code has gotten progressively looser as the show has gone on. People just ignore it because they've thrown in more violent killers and cheap action scenes. Plus in the last two seasons he's been downright stupid, which is highly uncharacteristic of his character. I miss the meticulous Dexter.
@35WHODAT Well, the first rule of the code is still "Don't get caught"... but I agree with you on the "stupid" part :( and I'd like more funny scenes as well. Things got too serious...
@35WHODAT After learning that his father commited suicide because of him, Dex has been abandoning his code, getting away from his father teachings, since they "all failed and created a monster". His ghost-dad even said it few times during later episodes that he's not going by the code, which actually brought bad things on Dex.. That's desired character progression IMHO that he's not following his dad anymore (he's feeling bad that he killed himself)
