  • Is this metro 45 clip still with the Golds? Sounds really amazing btw... I'm a metro owner, and LPF member ;-)

  • @MilesToneAmps no this is with the 4x12 vintage 20's

  • @lespaul10 Celestion Heritage 20's?

  • @MilesToneAmps yes in a 4x12 mojo cab...thanks for watching

  • You been doin spot o paintin ?

  • Les, you let the notes flow out like they need to. Lovely.

  • nice playing. Green was a bassist 1st. As a bassist myself I think the reason he is hard to imitate is his phrasing. Most guitarists push the beat pretty hard, Green does not, he approaches his guitar like a bass player feels the time, in the pocket or slightly behind.

  • @TheBassfresh thanks for your comment and insight.

  • I can't thank you enough for rekindling my desire to start playing again, a year ago, sorry its taken me so long to get back to you, Thank you for sharing your technical info as to your set-up , as to amp, pedals, pu's, speakers, your take on Peter Green.

His music is so spell like, its magic, I tell ya, hope to see more Peter Green tunes.

Great Job, it shows a lot hard work, has payed off.

  • @59rlespaul thankyou and happy holidays

  • super supernatural .

  • Oh yes! Wonderful interpretation of this classic Greeny instrumental. Lovely tone from your les paul. I agree what others have said already about the sustained notes but, what the hell, great playing.

  • @gone2thedogz thankyou

  • That's a beautiful Les Paul!!! Great job on a great tune!!!

  • that guitar is easy on the eyes.

    how much it cost?

  • excellent 5********

  • turn your amp up to 14 and you wont have to hit those 4 high sustained notes but one time...good job mate..!

  • LOL...thanks for the comment.

  • Classics, both of them...thanks for the nice comment.

  • Man, that's really lovely tone. Great!

You could have used some amp feedback to sustain these Green notes longer ;)

Can you post a link to a backing tack you have used?

  • Wow lespaul10, great work there. Peter Green was the absolute master and you'd bring an appreciative smile from him I'm sure.

  • Thanks I appreciate that.

  • nice try man,how he held those notes........

  • thanks yeah you got that right.

  • I saw the Fleetwood Mac in the summer '68 and it was one of the best shows I ever had the pleasure.

You've done well to capture Peter's sound.

  • I can only imagine how that show would have been, I was just a small tot at that time. Thanks for the comment.

  • There's a live recording of Fleetwood Mac in Boston that captures the essence of that time altho' Then Play On hadn't been released when I saw them. Jeremy Spencer provided the early RnR covers, Danny Kirwan provided the pop/rock and Peter Green provided the blues.

  • Live In Boston is available dude. HDCD Remaster.

  • Pretty good noodling for a painter...lol! I paint also, but sure couldn't pull this classic off like that...Thx lp10!

  • Again, wonderful one, you have plenty of talent and a ton of tone.

  • Thankyou, much appreciated

  • WOW! This guitar sounds amazing!

  • Thanks very much

  • Absolutly masterful tone! Nice improvisations. Have you got you pick-ups wired similar to Greens? One of his best for sure! And in 67, this song topped Claptons playing!

  • Thanks, your comment is much appreciated. I used to have a set of pups in this guitar that were in fact "out of phase" in the mid position. I got a great Green tone with that mod.

  • wonderful tone. Are those Throbak 101 LTD's?

  • yes they are the throbak 101's, thanks for you comment.

  • Lovely playing here, as is your version of "need your love so bad". I think peter recorded the tune with the marshalls cranked up as far as they could go to get the sustain. I read that Gary Moore used some kind of sustainer device on his version.

    Regards.

  • It's a fair attempt, but you could have a go at a number 'based upon' this one but give youself more scope to really get into it more. The sound is as close as I've heard, very nice tone, very Greeny.

  • Yeah I agree with ya..thats why I call it "stupid noodle" I appreciate your constructive critism and thanks for the comment.

  • Nice! It's clear that the sustained notes are quite hard ; the trick is to play loud with the larsen.

  • Sounds great Phil, What amp?

  • Thanks Black, this is the Metro 45 cranked and then a little post reverb added.

  • verry well try, dont be ashamed, only garry moor comes real close, but peter brings tears..

  • Thanks 52, your comment is spot on!!

  • amazing man. great tone. great playing.

  • Thank you for watching.

  • awesome mate ur tone and feeling are spot on

  • Thanks I appreciate your comments.

  • awesome playing mate that was great

  • Killer!!!

  • Hey Phil,I don't know what you've been doing different these days, but keep doing it. Your playing really seems to be moving into a whole nother level, and man I really like it. Great playing as always, cheers

  • Thanks Lefty, I appreciate your thoughts. These days, I'm not sure what I'm doing. And I say that in all honesty.

  • One word. Steroids. He's been juicin'......lol!!!

  • Forgiveth him Peter for he knoweth not what he doith..:) Dr. ...you almost always sound better when sporting painters' pants..(.)(.) Was there any (God Forbid) effects pedals snuck in here behind our backs? You NEVER give yourself ENOUGH credit Geeze....your touch and Tone are First Rate & not easily attained until one has invested years upon years with flesh to steel my Brotha.

  • No pedals this time around Pop Pops.....just a little added reverb........after the fact.

  • sounds great!

  • Thanks Soop........I would love to hear your take on this classic.....I KNOW you coculd nail it just as you nailed that classic "Sunnyside" off Bare Trees.

  • Very nice.

Dont worry too much about those long sustaining notes, youre great phil but that was a special man and a special guitar.

Also Im hearing something, maybe its room ambience or a very slight reverb added in at editing but Im DIGGING it. I always feel like part of Peter's magic was that he sounded like he was playing in a fog (which is why the super natural was so aptley named) and you definately got a peice of that!

  • Thanks PMC...yeah I added a little bit of reverb to both the left and right channel to try and give it that feel. Thanks for the most kind words.

  • Excellent feel and vibrato. Love the tone your getting. I wish I'd gone JTM45 rather than 5E3 sometimes.... No sin here. Very nice playing! Take care, T

  • Thanks T. Ya cant go wrong with a 5E3. You get great tone and feel out of that rig.
