  • LoooooooooooSeeeeeeeeers...

  • the shape is like honda crx

  • @redstarfish666 hahaaha, do you speak in French ? i'm sorry for your pride but this driver dose not impress me.. good bye Oncle Tom

  • @TheJP534

I really don't speak French but for some reason I know the French for 'vagina'... and 'touch' O_o

I'm the driver of the Smart, and trust me; you could put any driver in the car and the stupid Mercedes traction control and tiptronic gearbox would cause the event to be just as boring. :)

  • @redstarfish666 ok.. you cannot remove tje traction controler ? wird... I understand dude, I will remove my comment for you, have a nice day starfish

  • @TheJP534

There's a button to switch the traction control off but Mercedes made sure it still stays on for safety (just not as much). :/

And you don't have to worry about removing the comment. :D

I just felt like responding to a comment the way most people do. ^_^

    Have a nice day French/Canadian dude. (Y)

  • @redstarfish666 yes but bro think outside the box....remove the fuse. you got ya-self a drifta

  • Comment removed

  • Sad.... that's the only way you can spin the tires...! on ice and snow.

  • faggg

  • it's my new car

    smart roadster coupé red

    yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

  • awsome car, too bad they're not in the us

  • try that without the e-brake.

  • ihr könnt nix !

  • die amis können eh alle nicht fahren... -.- die und ihr automatik.. wo bleibt da der spass`?

  • i love the smart roadster , i've heard it is slow acceleration , is this true ? and also is that the brabus ? or the regular versoin ? P.S THAT LOOKED WELL FUN ! ;)

  • Hi! Mine wasn't the Brabus but it was tuned by Smarts'R'Us in Nottingham with a 35mm drop, Evil Twin remap, induction kit and Twin Exhaust. Was kickin out about 120bhp so more powerful than a Brabus.

If ur pulling off on a steep hill, the thing DOESN'T MOVE! :D

The mix of a slow tiptronic 'box and turbo lag on a 700cc engine means it just sits there revvin it's tiny nuts off! But then the turbo kicks in and u shoot off (usually just before a car's about to side-swipe you). Amazing fun though. :D

  • @redstarfish666 hey man! what mpg do u get? i have a roadster with similar setup, but red dot stage 2 remap. i get around 40 mpg at 70 mph motorway cruising. i think its not so good. also i get excessive oil use. my car hasn't covert too many miles and it has a new turbo too. the compression is also fine in all cylinder.

  • Hi, I no longer have the Smart. I used to get about 40mpg too. It used to keep up with much more powerful cars (on the right roads) and so if you compare the mpg figures to something like a 1.8 Astra Coupe that gets around 35mpg, it's not so bad.

Mine had no problems with oil but it went through 2 clutches in less than 30k miles. With a good gearbox, the Roadster would have been an outstanding car. Still the best car I've owned to this day.

I'm sure I'll have another, one day. :)

  • @redstarfish666 LMFAO ur a fag for havin a smart car....n wit a turbo its only 120 hp HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA ur so gayyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • @prosurfer2222 lemme you have a civic with 130hp get a life you fag the guy is having fun

  • @danandkaila no i have an accord wit a fully built h22 turbo at 22psi making over 450hp....low compression pistons, eagle rods, stage 3 clutch 2855lbs........stock weight

  • @redstarfish666 the brabus has 200hp +

  • @supercrossmatt13 Lol! :D

It really doesn't. Would be amazing if it did! Smart made a couple of prototype twin-engined Roadster Coupe's (which looked a lot like mine) and they had just over 200bhp. They were never sold though. The commercially available Brabus only had around 120bhp. Still good fun in such a light car though.

  • @redstarfish666 yea and you can always swap the engine with a gsxr1000

  • @supercrossmatt13 I've toyed with that idea. Something I might do in a couple of years and then keep it as a toy. Would have to get rid of the stupid gearbox though. It's far too slow and clunky for a Gixxer lump.

  • Love the look of the Smart Roadster Coupe. With a small turbo or super it'd be a hell of a fun car.

  • it has a turbo. 0.7 cc and 82hp

  • Ah, so you have the diesel then? We only got the petrol Smart ForTwo here in the States :c

I really liked the Smart Brabus Coupe however, or the Brabus ForFour.

  • no the smart roadster and roadster coupe as well as the first gen for2 are all very small gasoline turbo engine. The new gen for2 went to a larger NA gasoline engine from mitsubishi

  • @Synper311 It has a turbo :P

  • is it all wheel drive? i have a solstice but dont drive it in much snow.

  • It's mid-engine RWD, hence why I thought it would be fun in the snow. However, the Mercedes safety devices are really intrusive and stop you enjoying it so much.

Only now do I know (now I've sold the car) that there are tricks you can use to disable them.

  • @redstarfish666

Got a roadster a while ago and hoping to have some fun in the snow as well.

Just wondering, is this with the ESP turned OFF?

If so, what other tricks can u use to FULLY dissable it?

    Thanx!!

  • @konansk

The video was done with the ESP 'switched off', but not fully disabled. The only method I know about is the paper clip bent to join two pins of the ECU connecter socket in the drivers' footwell.

No idea which two to join but there's bound to be info online somewhere.

Get it turned off and have some fun. If you video it, put a link as a comment on this video. Would be cool to see it. Still love the Smart Roadsters. :)

  • i have the same car(soft-top),same colour but i painted that the colour of ferrari because red of mercedes sucks...yours is very goodlooking though...let me believe that it's not possible to have 120 hp on your wheels...what says the dynamometer??

  • slow down grandma!

  • Haha!! :D

Trust me, that's as fast as the traction control would let it go. Stupid Mercedes and their safety crap.. :)

  • i unplugged mine there's a guide on how to do it online somewhere, also unplugged my power steering much more fun to drive.

  • Comment removed

  • don't try this at home kids? what, drive responsibly around an open parking lot staying under 5mph...was your mother in the car?

  • where would you get a smart roadster?

  • looks good

  • Thanks. :)

  • this is v6 ?

  • I wish! :D

No, it's just a regular roadster but with Evil Twin tuning to give it around 120bhp.

The roof panels were painted silver and the front and rear bumpers painted red to try and replicate the look of the v6 a little.

  • hell no it a 3cyl

  • tthis car is fucking all smarts

  • Lol! ^_^

  • if that is really full power, then that car must have a REALLY intrusive traction control system. coming from mercedes, i wouldnt doubt they packed the smart roadster choc full of merc safety assists.

  • Lol! ^_^

The traction control was 'turned off'. I don't know why they give you the option to turn it off if it's just going to stay in the background anyway. I really did have my foot to the floor at times but it just made the traction control kick in even more. Still had fun though. :)

  • Most if not all RWD vehicles are horrible in snow. Get a pair of snow tires, you will be fine.

  • full power???

  • very nice looking car guys but you gotta kick it more sideways like i do its alot of fun when you get a good long drift going but nice video insightful and pretty cool looking car if i may say so looks better then the little smart cars

  • Thanks mate. :)

  • Do you know if there coming to america or are they here allready

  • I'm afraid Smart Gmbh have stopped making the Roadster now mate.

The last one was made last year and now they've sold the design rights to some independent company who keep promising to bring it back under the AC badge. They're calling it Project Kimber but it's been quiet for far too long.

The reason Smart stopped producing them was due to a lack of sales (too expensive).

It was never released in America due to the US having stricter safety laws.

  • i really like the smart roadtser and thought about buying a brabus fpr me. But the gearbox is the fucking lamest thing on earth so i took a bmw roadster :)

  • I agree with you about the gearbox. If only they'd have used a real manual or at least a half decent tiptronic. Still great fun though. :D

  • Erm, if you actually look at the title screen at the start of the video, you will realise that it does say smart roadster coupe, and that is exactly what it is... i think the owner would know :p

  • Nice. But that's not a Roadster, its a Coupe.

  • How has this video managed to get over 23,000 views but no comments for 5 months?

I expected at least one person to tell me how much they hate Smart cars or something.

  • At top gear they say that the smart suck, and i agree!!!!

  • Fair enough! Lol!

  • they didn't say it sucks. they said the only thing wrong with it is the gearbox is laggy. and it would only suck if your trying to go fast, cause this car doesn't achieve that very well

  • THE SMART CAR IS THE NEW VW BUG!

    fortwo = the orginal bug

roadster = super bug 1500cc (enthusitist will no what i mean)

    forfour = comvi ^^

  • I thought those were only concept cars?

  • well, apparently not ;)

  • would love to try that with my roadie in the winter. think only necessary

  • so what do smart cars do? whats different about them?

  • They are very light (700kg), have a tiny engine (700cc) with a massive turbo and are stupidly fun to drive. They handle just like a go-kart! They have removable body panels (the red bits on my car) so you can change the colour of your Smart. The best thing about smarts is that you get the buzz of going fast without having to risk your life!

My last car was a 3litre twin turbo Supra- Very quick but nowhere near as much fun to drive as the Smart.

  • see when you say massive turbo.... it's tiny :-) And they weigh nearer 800kg but who's counting lol looks like you were having fun there. Had you disabled all the esp properly? (the cheat way with the paperclip?) ;-)

  • :) I had no idea you could use a paperclip to disable the esp. It would have made things a lot more fun. My Roadster had a much bigger turbo fitted. It filled the one side of the engine bay completely. I sold it not too long ago and have now moved on to Jap performance. Still crave the Smart though. :)

  • my fun has had one of these Smart Roadster in Australia for the past 3years. and even now she still says its the best car she has ever owned (the most expensive being a new BMW M3 back in 2001)

700cc + 6 seqential gears + 700kg = feels like your birthday every time you get a red light, coz taking off again never stops being fun ^^

i have the 42, practicaly the same, engine in the back, 700kg, just the abense of boot & bonnet, gotta love the french... sometimes ;)

  • il est magnific ton road!

    felicitation.

  • I love this car really want one.

  • in australia we can pick up a second hand

    fortwo = 10k ($7,000us)

    forfour = 13k ($9,500us)

    Roadster = 21k ($16,000us)

and all 3 are super zippy & stylish, my point being such cheap, reiable well made little things and falls into most peoples budgets!

  • kafte ton

  • Nice interesting post! But, have you seen what happens if you put diamonds in a blender? Check it out blend.lostfrog 'dot' com

  • no drifting... at all. "dont try this at home" pfft.

  • commentary very good. love the vid. should have gone a bit more wild!

  • Yeah I know. the damn thing kept changing gear as I'd get into a drift. If only it had a real gearbox rather than a manual. Plus, even though the traction control was turned off, the ABS kept kicking in and stopping it from sliding. Very hard. Also, there are a lot of fences, trees, kerbs and a massive resevoir around the edges and I didn't fancy killing my car.

  • I love the commentary on it! I didn't realise he was doing it until I watched it back on my laptop! :)

"don't try this at home kids"! Lol!
