Hey bro. I've gotta 8 stringed ukulele straight from Rarotonga/Cook Islands. I need to learn how to play it mean like you bro lol How do you do that muting/muffling affect buz???? I wanna learn how to skank it with it hard out haha..
@clonado00 in case you haven't gotten one, it's always good to start at a concert or soprano, so you can get the tuning. But Baritone comes with different strings so you may want to get used to the GCEA tuning so you can switch the strings if you're so inclined.
I love ska! This video is great. I've only been playing ukulele for a day so I'm having trouble with the muting on the down strum. I'm mostly focusing on just getting the chords down and strumming correctly but I couldn't resist checking out how to play ska on the ukulele. Hopefully I'll get it down soon! Are you muting it with your left hand? Do you have a video that could help with muting?
Your video is so helpful, but I am confused about some of the chords you played. Your chords looked different than the major chords I have learned. I am a very, very new beginner. Could you explain this in more detail? Thanks again.
Hey man! thanx for the tutorial, i'm learning the strum pattern more for guitar than uke but works similar, made a big difference seeing it than just hearing it, and where i'm from there's lotsa uke players glad to see it's not uncommon in the mainland
Actually, to all those who think reggae came first, you are mistaken. Ska came before reggae, reggae was a slowed down, more broken down variation of ska.
@skalin yeah but most people (incorrectly, nevertheless) don't know the difference between rocksteady and reggae. Rocksteady came before both ska and reggae
Thanks for sharing. By the way, ska is the ancestor of reggae. Ska style began in the '50s and some folks started slowing it down and calling it reggae. So you could say that reggae is really just slowed down ska. :D

Actually, in the 50's people starting infusing Reggae with Punk Rock... and that's where you get Ska. Early wave Ska sounds almost identical to Reggae, and as the waves progressed, it went further toward the Punk Rock spectrum.
sorry bro you are kiddin... in late 70 when the punk was born some bands in england like the specials start mixing ska revival and punk it was called 2-tone..
The ukulele is best known for its association with Hawaiian music, but it is known to have been derived from two different Portuguese instruments: the braguinha and the cavaquinho. This was brought with them when they immigrated to Hawai'i.
The name "ukulele" actually means, "jumping flea" in Hawaiian.
I've been playing the ukulele since I was a kid and on occasions play with a guitar.
The standard tuning is G, C, E, A. It also depends on the size and what kind of strings you use. You can play the bar chords on the ukulele also on the guitar I think on the 5th or 7th fret.

1)what kind of guitar is that and why are you using it instead of "normal" acoustic one
2) do you use different tuning or what? it doesnt seem like you are using standart finger possitions when you play chords
