Terry carelessly keeps the carp out of the water for just over three minutes. I had to laugh at his comment at 4:12 "She was well pleased to get back" - No shit Sherlock; how would you feel if your head was held underwater for three minutes? You clearly are a knowledgeable fisherman - it's just a crying shame your fish handling skills aren't quite good. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS TRANSPORT BIG FISH LIKE THAT IN A SLING OR NET WHEN RETURNING THEM BACK TO THE WATER. If dropped, it could have died.

@wahoobass Carp can survive for well over a hour if they have to so 3 minutes want harm it at all.

The fish was obviously fine because it swam off straight away. The only thing he did wrong was carry the fish back to the water in his arms instead of putting it in a sling. Even when he carried it back to the water he held it low to the ground so if it did fall it would hardly damage the fish. He is one of the most knowledgeable and skilled anglers out there so i think he knows what he is doing.

agree with 21RSAS, terry is one of the best in the buissness, he knows how to handle fish on the bank, he has had some lumps and knows exactly what he is doing, and carp can, beleive it or not, last hours out of water, pike and zander however are much weaker and delecate, one wrong move with a pike could be fatle whereas carp are much more hardy

he had people with him, don't you think if he was in trouble that he would of just asked for help putting the fish in the net to rest it while fighting the other carp. doesn't take rocket science. i agree though, don't do what hearns is doing if you're on your own.

you should always carry the fish back to the water in the net regardless of who you are and how many people you have with you. That way you will never drop a fish if it starts to flap.

It was out of the water for 3 minutes, that's not very long at all, plus it would have been even less if it hadn't have been flapping about. He most likely had another net spare and he's got camera men and crew etc. around him to help out if the other rod goes off. Wether you're own your own or net doesn't matter. if you've got a fish on the bank and the rod goes off you need to get the fish in the water and the get to the rod when you're done.

I used to think hes abit of a nob but to be honest after following him closely now for a few years i find unless you do that hes easily regarded as a nob but actaully he does know a fair bit but for some reason his vids/dvds what have you dont show the good bits, Ive learn a fair bit from him in the past but mainly i like the way he enjoys the best looking carp now and not the biggest. I now use that excuse every where i go when i catch the only small ones in the lake lol.
